Charity festival set to remember those lost in war Wednesday 4 November, 7.30pm The Marine Hall Fleetwood Tribute will be paid to the brave men and women who have fallen while serving their country at the Northern Festival of Remembrance in Fleetwood.

County Councillor John Shedwick will narrate the event which will see a Parade of Standards and Cadets led by members of F Company Scots Guards and a Drum Head Service conducted by the Reverend David Greenwood.

On Wednesday 4 November, the Mayor and Mayoress of Wyre, Councillor Tom I Balmain and Mrs Alene Balmain, are hosting the festival at Marine Hall in Fleetwood.

The event takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 4 November and all the proceeds will be donated to The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The festival features a host of musical delights including The Band of the King’s Division led by Captain Stewart Halliday, Classic Sound, Ann Cookson, Peter Baldwin, Barbara Jackson Theatre Arts and the Festival Singers.

These exercises will not halt the progression of the disease but they do promote a feeling of well being and are mentally stimulating ( as well as being a good laugh in the process!!) The Firework Extravaganza Event looks to be as good as ever with thousands of people from Fleetwood and across Wyre expected to line the promenade around the Marine Hall. This is a brilliant event for the town, and has helped significantly reduce ASB across the town compared to previous years. THE MOUNT RACING CLUB UPDATE

A great start from Summer Storm

s the Winter months start to draw in its time to start switching our racing attentions from the Flat to the National Hunt scene and our very own jumper Summer Storm has made a pleasing start for us. Firstly we made our very first trip to the picturesque Northumberland course of Hexham where Summer lined up in a 2 mile Maiden Hurdle with Tony Kelly in the saddle. Despite being off the course for 309 days he put in a fluent and very neat round of jumping and travelled strongly throughout the race only tiring in the latter stages before finishing a very creditable 2nd behind a race fit and well fancied winner. 3 weeks later we travelled even further North with him as we made our first ever visit to the Scottish track of Kelso where Summer Storm lined up in a class 4 Maiden Hurdle over 2 miles with Tony Kelly again in the saddle. Despite the race not being run to suit with virtually no pace at all in it, Summer travelled strongly throughout it and put in another good round of jumping before being slightly outpaced from the 2nd last when the inevitable ‘sprint finish’ kicked in. Once headed though he showed a great attitude and battled all the way to the line to claim another creditable 3rd placing. ummer Storm has come out of both races fine and was 100% sound after them. He’s a very lightly raced horse who at the age of five has only had 5 racecourse starts in his career. For this reason we are in no rush to hurry him along and are happy to adopt the softly softly approach whilst he’s still learning his trade. He’s a horse who travels strongly through his races but doesn’t have the turn of foot

TOP: Summer Storm at Kelso BOTTOM: Summer Storm in jumping action at Kelso at the end and for that reason we will now look to step him up in trip, a move which we think will benefit him a lot and bring him on for it. Touch wood he’s had no reactions to his old leg injury and is looking stronger and has bags of enthusiasm for the game and a really likeable attitude to it. The step up to maybe 2m4f will be a massive plus to him and in time we can see him turning into a decent Novice Chaser as well. Exciting times and plenty for his Owners to look forward to
