Royal engagement at The Hamptons Residents at a local care centre enjoyed a royal visit in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Leading local care centre, The Hamptons, located off Heyhouses Lane in Lytham St Annes, was visited by mini Queen, Isla Bates, age three, who planted a tree as part of HRH The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative; a campaign to enhance the environment and provide a lasting legacy in honour of Elizabeth II’s jubilee year with the ultimate aim of benefitting future generations. The royal engagement commenced with a red carpet arrival for the mini-Queen who was accompanied by her guard of honour, Major Briscoe MBE from the Duke of Lancashire Regiment and her grandfather Andrew Fairhurst, a veteran of the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment. Making it a true family occasion, Isla’s nanna Cath Fairhurst and mum Alexandra Fairhurst, were also in attendance, along with Dominic Kay and Dawn Collett, all of whom work for New Care. Residents and their families cheered when the tree was planted and then enjoyed a summer barbecue to officially kick start the Platinum Jubilee celebrations at the home. Home manager at The Hamptons, Sara Allton, commented: “Our royal visit was the perfect way to commence a weekend of Jubilee celebrations and our residents were truly delighted with Isla who was amazing in her role as mini Queen. It was a fabulous afternoon with smiles and laughter and the sharing of many memories over The Queen’s 70 year reign.” Part of New Care, The Hamptons is a beautiful care home offering exceptional levels of residential, nursing and dementia care in a safe and comfortable environment. Wyre’s beaches named among the best in the country Beaches in Fleetwood, Cleveleys and Rossall have all received Seaside Awards today, recognising them as some of the best in the country. Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has announced the winners of the prestigious Seaside Awards for summer 2022 and Jubilee beach in Cleveleys, Marine and Ferry beaches in Fleetwood and Rossall beach have all received an award. Councillor Roger Berry, Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Services and Community Safety at Wyre Council comments, “It’s great news to hear that our beaches have received Seaside Awards once again. We really do have some of the most beautiful beaches and these awards mean that people visiting them can be assured they meet the highest standards. Thank you to all the staff at Wyre Council and our volunteers, local beach care groups and partners who work so hard to keep our beaches clean and safe. While the words are regularly spoken, the intensity with which they were said perhaps should have given some indication that Elizabeth truly was giving herself over to the nation, a fact that has been borne out in the 70 years that have followed. 34

STRUGGLES Taking strength from all around her, the Queen has never professed to have all the answers. “I know of no single formula for success.
