Max Surban to Accept Siloy Bantugan Award
MaxSurban,theKingofVisayanNovelty Songs, will appear in the live presentation of the Cebu Siloy Music Awards2023onMay26,2023.
Max Surban will receive the Siloy Bantugan Award. He is cited for not only producing Bisaya novelty songs, but also classics such as Baleleng and his duets with Pilita Corrales. He is among the pioneers in indie music production and is unafraid to collaborate with other artists like the Bisaya rock band Missing Filemon.
He will announce this year’s Siloy Bahanding Awit that had as previous winners Manny Lapingcao’s “Estudyante o Estambay”, Paul Melendez’ “Make Believe” and Eva de los Santos’ “My Everything”. Surban is expected to sing one of his popular songs.
Among those who haveconfirmed their appearance in the FBLivepresentation are: Australiabased music producer and author Ben Noynay, Minpop 2022 winner Benmark Mercado, indie artist Do Medi, multi-awarded singer-songwriter Ferdinand Aragon, 22 Tango standout Jericho Streegan, Filscap Choice awardee Mary Anchit, Bisaya rap pioneer Yo Emperado, and Jiji Aligno, rockguitarwiz of the NewZealand metal bands Scorn of Creation and DarkDivinity. Invitations have been extended to 22 Tango founder Cattski Espina and Hahaha Hasula hitmaker Kurt Fick.
Cebu Siloy Music Awards began in 2017 and has been presented via FB Live since 2000. It is filmed in New Zealand and hosted by Mel B. Libre who presently handles B ORIG GLOBAL, a New Zealand radio show focused on Bisaya Original artists and their works, streamed worldwide.
The presentation is produced by Cebu Siloy Music Awards in partnership with Lightpersecond. The media partner is BAYANIZ, the information hub of the Filipino Community in New Zealand.
