HEAD COACH HALEY DOMECK
building the foundation Inheriting a program that was experiencing a low point in its history, Haley Domeck has the ’Cats heading for better times
H
aley Domeck is in her third year as Linfield head volleyball coach. In 2020, she became the first woman to direct the Wildcats volleyball program since Robin Vealey coached the team to a 30-7 record and the Northwest Conference championship in 1979. Domeck (nee Doerfler) combines a mixture of collegiate and club coaching experience, as well as substantial college and high school playing experience. Before joining the Linfield staff, she spent one year as an assistant coach at Seattle Pacific University and assisted at the University of North Alabama for one year. She also previously coached at Durham University in England, directing that school’s indoor and sand volleyball programs while serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator. Domeck has six years experience coaching at the club level. Competing as Haley Doerfler, Domeck starred as a middle
blocker at Hawaii Pacific University, graduating in 2015. During her four seasons at HPU, she piled up 394 blocks, leading the team in blocks in three of those seasons. She also recorded 765 career kills, 208 coming as a senior in 2014. As a junior, Domeck totaled 117 blocks and hit .309, earning all-Pacific West Conference third team honors. She was honorable mention all-Pacific West as a sophomore and again as a senior. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, Domeck’s family settled in the southwest Washington city of Battle Ground. At Prairie High School, she was an all-state honoree and the Greater St. Helens League Most Valuable Player. She excelled at the club level, winning the JO National Championship in the American Division while being named to the all-tournament team. Haley and her husband, Wes, reside in McMinnville.

LINFIELD MEN’S BASKETBALL Defending NWC champion Wildcats open the new season November 12 at home against Northwest University The 2022-23 Linfield men’s basketball is about to get underway. The slate features challenging out-of-conference matchups against UC-Santa Cruz, Mary Hardin-Baylor and Illinois Wesleyan. The defending Northwest Conference champion Wildcats open their season at home Nov. 12 with a non-conference bout against Northwest University. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. The following weekend, Linfield heads to Northern California to battle CalTech and UC-Santa Cruz in the UCSC Classic at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Wildcats open Northwest Conference play with a pair of games in early December, at home versus George Fox on Dec. 2 and at Pacific on Dec. 3. Linfield heads to Spokane, Washington, just prior to Christmas to participate in the Whitworth Tipoff Classic. There, the ‘Cats are scheduled to play Nebraska Wesleyan (Dec. 20) and Mary HardinBaylor (Dec. 21). Perhaps the most intriguing game on the schedule comes during the holiday break when perennial NCAA powerhouse Illinois Wesleyan visits Ted Wilson Gym on Dec. 29. That game will set the stage for Linfield’s resumption of conference play starting five days later at home versus Willamette on Jan. 3. Key home dates on the NWC schedule include Jan. 6 versus Pacific Lutheran, Jan. 21 versus Whitman and Jan. 22 versus Whitworth. The Wildcats are coming off a season in which they finished 18-7 overall and went 13-3 in conference play. Shanan Rosenberg begins his 10th season at the helm of the Linfield men’s basketball program.
