2016 Alan Reinstein Award Christine Winter Christine Winter, will be recognized with the 2016 Alan Reinstein Award for her commitment to education, advocacy, and support to countless patients and families. Christine has spent the last fifteen years working within the asbestos sector, from UK Trade Associations, to independent asbestos auditing. She spent fourteen years with her own asbestos training company and six years as Chair, Communications Coordinator, and Co-Founder of Independent Asbestos Training Providers. Since 2007, Christine has been partnering for prevention with ADAO endorsing the ADAO vision and mission that “sharing makes us stronger & together change is possible.” Christine is now involved in the inception of the Federation of Decontamination Equipment Manufacturers, an UK organization representing manufacturers that supply dust suppressant safety equipment. When asked how she feels about being honored with ADAO’s 2016 Alan Reinstein Award, Christine replied, “humbled, I am an ordinary person who just happens to work in the asbestos sector and have had the great privilege of meeting many extraordinary people.” She currently serves as the Co-Chair of ADAO’s Prevention Advisory Board, a seven-person board comprised of industrial hygienists, asbestos trainers, and abatement contractors. This Board serves as an expert resource for questions regarding asbestos prevention and abatement from individuals, politicians, publications, government websites, or other social non-profits. When discussing the source of her strength and inspiration, Christine notes that “first and foremost, I find my strength and inspiration from my husband. The injustice and cruel consequences of asbestos exposure drives me too. It’s our responsibility to arm our nations with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves and their families, at home and in the work place.” ADAO would like to congratulate Christine again on receiving ADAO’s 2016 Alan Reinstein Award and thank her for all of her contributions and efforts to support asbestos victims on a local and international scale.
