LindaleISDEducationFoundationAwardsmorethan$40,000inClassroomGrants
TheLindaleISDEducationFoundationhasawarded$40,263.57toLindaleISDteachers. Themoneywillbeusedtopurchasenewandinnovativetoolsforclassrooms.Fundsprovidedby theFoundationwilldirectlybenefitstudentsintheLindaleIndependentSchoolDistrictandwill makeapositivedifferenceforthem.
“TheLindaleISDEducationFoundationisproudtoannouncethefollowingrecipientsof thisyear'sEducationFoundationgrants,”saidGlennDavis,PresidentoftheLindaleISD EducationFoundation.“TheoutstandingteachersofLindaleISDworktirelesslytoenrichour children'seducationeveryday.Withtheawardingofthesegrants,theywillenhanceour childrens'future.Ipraiseandgivethankstothecommunity,businessesandindividualdonors thatjoinusinthisvitalendeavorforourchildren'sfuture!”
Theteachersarenotifiedthattheyareawardedtheirgrantsandreceivefundsbya surpriseGrantPatrolthroughschoolhallways.TheLindaleHighSchoolStarSteppers, cheerleaders,mascot,donors,administratorsandvolunteersloudlyparadethroughthecampuses, givingawaymoneyforseveralinnovativeprojects.
“ThisisthebesttimeoftheyearfortheLindaleEducationFoundation,”saidCourtney Sanguinetti,ExecutiveDirectoroftheLindaleISDEducationFoundation.“Ourboardmembers andvolunteersworkextremelyhardthroughouttheyeartoraiseenoughfundstobeabletogive likewedo.Toseeitallpayoffwiththeexcitementofthestudentsandteachersisdefinitelyour reward.Wearesothankfulfortheteacherswhoappliedforthesenewlearningtoolsandweare excitedtoseetheminaction.”

TheLindaleISDEducationFoundationisa501(c)(3)organizationthatprovidesfunds forclassroomprojectsandprogramsnotfundedorunder-fundedbythedistrict’soperating budget.Thefoundationissupportedthroughdonationsfromindividuals,businessesand corporations.
“WearesothankfulforourdonorsandtheLindalecommunitywhomakeallofthis possible,”saidSanguinetti.“Thesestudentsdeserveachancetoexcelbeyondtheclassroomand theprojectsfundedbytheEducationFoundationhelptodojustthat.Ourteachers’dedicationto ourkidsandschooldistrictiswhatmakesLISDoneofthebest.”
TheEducationFoundationbeganawardinggrantsinNovember2009.Sincethefirst grantcycle,theFoundationhasawarded$505,373.71toLISDclassroomsforhundredsof projects.
GrantapplicationsaresubmittedtothefoundationbyLISDteachersandaidesfor projectsorprogramsthatgoabovetheday-to-daycurriculumandofferstudentsanenrichedand uniquelearningexperience.Projectsselectedforfundingareratedonanumberofcriteria includingtheinnovationoftheproject.

Thepurposeofthisgrantistoprovide9-12thgradephysicsstudentswithVernierprobes thatmakeitpossibleforthemtobeabletoexploreandcollectdataonverycomplex physicsconceptsfromspeed,tosound,tocurrent,andenergy.

Thepurposeofthisgrantistoprovidegolfstudentswithamobilelaunchmonitorandgolf simulatorthatwillprovidedataanddifferentplayingscenariostohelpfurtherincreasethe successofourgolfprogram.

Thepurposeofthisgrantistoteachstudentsthenecessaryskillstogrowtheirownfoodby creatingasustainablefoodsource.Theconceptofsustainableagricultureistomeetthe needsofcurrentandfuturegenerations,whileprotectingourenvironment,aswellasusing lessresourcessuchasland,water,andfuel.Studentswillbereceivingahydroponics system,verticalfarmingsystem,andacompostingbinandwormfarm(toprovide nutrient-densesoilforplantstogrow).Studentswillbetaskedwithplantingvariousplants andvegetablesforconsumption.
