WACAFE AlUla
Collaboration Project 2020
AlUla , Saudi Arabia
The design offers a refined experience that tells the story of Saudi Arabia, drawing inspiration from the heritage of AlUla and the culture of Al Ahsa. It weaves a minimal, textured, and detailed narrative, presented in a contemporary, cohesive, and thoughtful way—uniquely tailored to the WACAFE experience.
Old Town AlUla is located in the narrowest part of the AlUla Valley, elevated slightly above the surrounding area. The town is crowned by the Musa bin Nusayr Castle, a historic citadel dating back to at least the 10th century.
WACAFE is situated in the heart of Old Town, AlUla Valley, and spans between two buildings.

A modern fusion of two cultures, the design offers an elevated experience that tells the story of Ahsa and Bahraini cultures, inviting users to explore and
discover. The PXW Pavilion is located at the heart of Digital City, offering a unique blend of Food, Coffee, and Culture.
FORM
The design deconstructs the form of an arch, resulting in three pavilions set on an elevated platform that seemingly floats above the grass. Abstract clusters of columns, broken up with
segments of lighting, draw inspiration from Al Uqayr and the Pearling Trail, creating a cohesive and harmonious story. The pavilion is a semipermanent structure, capable of being assembled and

The KANZAN experience is a thoughtfully crafted system inspired by the rich architectural heritage of Al-Ahsa.
The design features a layered and textured structure that draws on the region's distinctive forms and materials, creating a tactile environment that invites interaction.
Every element within the space is carefully designed to engage the user, encouraging them to touch, feel, and explore.
This immersive experience allows visitors to connect with the space on a deeper level, discovering the intricate details and stories woven into the design, all while celebrating the timeless beauty of Al-Ahsa’s architecture.
A minimalist fusion of stone, brass, wood, and greenery, inspired by the topography, architecture, and craftsmanship of Al-Ahsa— distinctly crafted for KANZAN.
Arch System
The arch concept is an abstraction of Al-Ahsa's iconic arches, realized through a layered, textured skeleton system. This design incorporates elements that pay homage to Al-Ahsa's topography—featuring mountains and springs—its craftsmanship, and its lush greenery.

A childhood lullaby .. can bring back precious moments
When hearing the lullaby ‘’dohaa ya dohaa’’ (ﺎﻫﻭﺩ ﺎﻳ
) we were taken right back to our childhood nostalgic moments.
‘’
‘’ seems to resonate through generations, passed on from generation to generation, a lullaby holds cultural knowledge and traditions.
A lullaby “
” is a soothing song or piece of music that is sung to children. Lullabies are often used to pass down or strengthen cultural roles and practices. The music is often simple and repetitive, convening heightened emotions, usually of love or affection. Rhythmically, there are shared patterns.
Moment Pavilion
The dohaa ( ﺎﻫﻭﺩ ) pavilion is designed to evoke childhood memories.
The dohaa ( ﺎﻫﻭﺩ ) pavilion is based on a simple and repetitive forms and materials conveying a sense of tranquility and ease.
The materials of the dohaa ( ﺎﻫﻭﺩ ) pavilion represent a contemporary representation of the Saudi identity. The interaction with the space opens up the conversation between guests of their different memories evoked by

the experience. The pavilion experience unpacks the journey of a memory, when first hearing, smelling, touching to three experiences Pause, Pieces, and Moment.
The pavilion form was inspired by rhythm and repetition of a Lullaby. The lines was repeated and abstractly pivoted to create the main axis of the pavilion.
Pause Pavilion
Pause and remember .. When first entering the pavilion you are in a sense of Pause in a dark purposely lit space, mimicking stars and pattern you see when closing your eyes.

Prof.
ax.on Hub is an inter-moble system of multiple component. The component by itself act as an individual, but when we create a link and connection between the components we create a system. We pair this system is paired with a stretched canopy to link the Components.
The canopy shape is generated from the different component on site, its organic shape bring social interaction to the central of the hub, and then redirect them to their destination.
Location
ax.on transport Hub is located in south Chicago next to an existing Green line (Metro station). This prime location will generate 2 more transport nods ( Bus Stop and Boat Stop)

Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, with an aging population and a rising number of deaths each year. A common custom in the city is for families to visit the burial sites of their ancestors, particularly during special holidays when offerings such as money and food are brought to honor them.
This proposed program aims to create a structure within the spaces between buildings,
utilizing the area above the ground level while keeping the ground level accessible to the public.
By introducing this new program, the design fosters shared facilities that serve both the existing residents and the new users, providing a space that honors cultural traditions while integrating with the community’s daily life.
Proposed Location
HUNG HOM NEIGHBORHOOD
The main case study site is the (United Buildings Yin on Court) in Hung Hom neighborhood, Funeral District. The program will include the Memorial areas, ritual burning, and Cafe area.

The Exhibition presents the multitude of influences on Mies’s thinking about architecture and its physical manifestation by utilizing the interior of the post office and the exterior plaza.
An overhead structure physically links the division between the inside and the outside and supports
the different exhibition canopies.
The structure also metaphorically links and calls to attention the design process, which moves between text, images and ideas in the development of the architectural object.

Prof. Benjamin Nicholson Bird Observatory
Academic Project Fall 2015 Chicago , Illinois
This project is centered around creating a unique architectural space that seamlessly integrates with the natural environment of Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary and Lake Michigan.
The goal is to enhance the experience of visitors while preserving the sanctuary's delicate
ecosystem, offering a space that serves a wide range of people for different purposes.
By carefully designing defined paths and designated areas for bird watching, the project ensures that the sanctuary’s natural habitat remains undisturbed.
Site Significant
Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary extends dramatically into the Lake Michigan shoreline on the north side of Chicago. Although it is cherished as one of the few remaining “wild places” within the city, the sanctuary is man-made, created in the
1930s when fill material was placed on the lakebed. Since its development, Montrose Point has become a crucial stopover for migratory birds along the shoreline, gaining international recognition among ornithologists for the diverse range of bird species that frequent the area.

Design Concept
The lower part of the structure is anchored to the ground, facing the lake's wind, while the upper observatory platform reaches out toward the sanctuary, inviting visitors to engage with the nature around them. The design uses a concrete base supported
by steel tubes, which hold the upper platform in place. A hydraulic elevator in the core and surrounding staircase provide easy access.
To enhance the experience, structural arches extend into the lake, creating waves that crash against them. This interaction between architecture and water
brings a dramatic, immersive quality to the space, blending the built environment with the natural elements
Because the location of the observatory, along side of the pier, structural arches extended to the lake water to generate a force that makes waves hit it and create a dramatic experience.

Bird life Drawing
The bird drawing follows the life journey of the blue-gray gnatcatcher, highlighting the distinct experiences of both the male and female birds from the end of migration to its beginning.
The drawing illustrates the four seasons of the year, capturing
different stages in the birds' lifecycle. It portrays their migration patterns, how they meet, defend their territories, and the tragic challenges they face while protecting their nestlings. Ultimately, it shows how the family travels together to reach their next migration destination.
This drawing offers a glimpse into the incredible and often overlooked journey of these tiny birds as they navigate the trials and triumphs of migration, emphasizing their resilience and connection to the changing seasons.
