Much missed, Thomas was from a long line of stars with his half- brother being Gr.1 winner Patezza. Thomas was utterly hopeless himself and retired early into the” Nanny Life”. A great cuddle post for weanlings, the odd staff member and farm owner at times.
That’s right, people rich country - not rich people country (although we’re not adverse to getting there).
Raising thoroughbreds even when the stakes are not “Easter high” isn’t for the faint hearted. Every week young stock are trying to find new and inventive ways to injure and maim themselves. They can unbelievably creative.
Our team have been there with us and this group of horses all the way, fretting and fussing over every detail. They’ve put in on weekends, after hours, mucking out & mucking in, grooming, rugging, washing, walking, feeding, watering, and worrying over this draft of yearlings.
Through good days and bad, it’s been the Kiwi, the Irish, the English & the Aussies. All in all, a brilliant effort by the commonwealth of Lime Country.
Come fall of hammer, good, bad or otherwise, they can all be proud of the work they have done for these yearlings to make it here, to Riverside, and into the “Best of The Best” book.
