A UNIQUE FACT ABOUT ME

I WAS NAMED AFTER MY GREAT - GREAT - AUNT REBA WHO WAS A NURSING INSTRUCTOR HERE AT LIMA MEMORIAL WHEN I WAS BORN.

REBA ALLEN

QUALITY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

Lima Memorial has been a second home for me. I was born here, and my family has always used Lima Memorial as their hospital. My father calls it “his hospital.” I did clinicals here as a respiratory student and worked here for some time after I graduated in 1983 from Lima Technical College.

Lima Memorial holds many good memories, experiences and friendships for me. I am so grateful for the opportunities that have crossed my path working here for 25 years. There are memories I cherish, and that makes me proud to work for such a wonderful hospital. We have the best staff that is kind, caring and intelligent in every aspect. I have witnessed many moments (some are victories and some are tear-jerkers) from patients, families and co-workers.

I never thought as a respiratory therapist my path would lead me to the cardiac cath lab, open-heart surgery and then on to cardiac data abstraction. A big shout out and thank you to all of my co-workers who have been so awesome during the journey. It is comforting to know the people you work with truly care. Thank you, Lima Memorial!

Comments from Denise Myers, Director

Reba has served in a variety of roles during her 25 years at LMHS. Reba’s respiratory therapy position allowed her to be a part of open-heart telemetry, cath lab, cardiac quality data abstraction and the LMHS CHF Clinic. Reba is dedicated to great patient care. She has a calm personality which helps put patients at ease. We have received patient comments regarding her excellent care and going above and beyond for them. Reba is a valued, knowledgeable and dependable member of our team.

Regina is an amazing and highly skilled therapist. She is respected by her team and adored by her friends. Regina makes people laugh and feel comfortable around her, even in the toughest situations. She works hard and has given so much to her patients through her care. Regina is detailed and takes the time to do things the right way. She is a leader for the team and has helped to guide many new therapists as they have joined the team. Thank you for everything you have done here at LMHS. Your many sacrifices have not gone unnoticed by your team and your patients. We appreciate you!

CAROL COPELAND HVU

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

25 years! Wow. It seems like just yesterday I started here at Lima Memorial. I started in the rehab unit, where I was for five years, and then I found my home in HVU for the last 20 years. I have made so many friends here that it seems like Lima Memorial is my second family. What a wonderful experience I have had working at LMHS.

Comments from Wendy Rayl, Director

Carol started her long tenure here at Lima Memorial working as a PCT on the rehab unit for five years, 3 South for a short period of time and the last 20 years in the heart and vascular unit as a PCT / Unit Secretary. Carol enjoys working with and caring for people in general, but one can see that she truly found a passion in caring for patients receiving cardiac and open-heart care! She can always be found encouraging them with their mobility, incentive spirometry exercises and working to reduce their incredible stress related to surgery. Carol has a gift in rapport building—it does not matter if you are an associate, patient or physician. She will impact your visit to HVU positively in some way throughout the day. Carol is heavily engaged in building our safety culture, currently serving as the unit’s safety coach. Carol also helps with teaching the bed in-services at our monthly house-wide orientation. She is always willing to help with projects of any kind when asked, and she takes things seriously and works until it is completed. Carol consistently goes above and beyond, and I have no doubt that she contributes greatly to the impressive patient satisfaction scores HVU experiences! Her hard work, commitment and dedication to LMHS is outstanding and greatly appreciated. It is my pleasure to congratulate Carol on her 25-year milestone!

“Family” is the word that comes to my mind when describing what working at the hospital means to me. Over the past 25 years, the staff I work with have become my second family. When I walk in every morning, it feels like walking into a family celebration. I cannot imagine working anywhere else. I believe we have a strong team that goes above and beyond to meet the needs of our patients and their family members. I am thankful to have worked alongside some truly amazing people over the years.

Comments from Chad Martin, Director

Deb is an exceptional associate who takes her work to heart. She loves to help others in need when our services are requested, whether it is an emergency or when something just needs repaired. She does a great job prioritizing what the needs are based on safety and patient care items. She prepares the safety information packets for our Environment of Care meetings, which confirm we are meeting our various safety checks sufficiently in order to keep the hospital compliant with many codes and standards. She is always willing to go out of her way to help the staff in our department and other departments in order to make their jobs easier. Her 25 years of experience is a great asset to have because she truly tries to do her very best for LMHS. Congratulations, Deb!

MARTHA BURGEI 2 SOUTH

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

I have been very blessed to take care of patients for more than 30 years. Throughout the years, I have always tried to take care of each patient as an individual with the dignity and respect they deserve and the way I would want myself or family to be treated. I feel that Lima Memorial also supports that belief, not only with patients but also with our staff. Lima Memorial gives the support each and every staff member needs, no matter who you are, where you work or your role.

Comments from Jennifer Williams, Manager

Marty is exceptional. She has worn many hats during her 30 years at Lima Memorial, including working with ICU, pediatrics, oncology, medical surgical nursing and the IV team and charge nurse. She is a great co-worker, leader, confidant and, most of all, friend. Marty is above reproach with her experience and knowledge. She continually shares her knowledge with others and helps new nurses grow. No matter the obstacle, we all know Marty will get us through. She brightens everyone’s day with her beautiful smile and hilarious stories. 2 South would not be home without Marty.

WENDY RAYL HVU

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

Reflecting on what the last 30 years have brought makes me feel so incredibly blessed. I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and care for so many wonderful patients. I have an immense passion for bedside management; it not only offers opportunity to engage with the families, patients and disease processes but also with assisting in the training and development of our next generation of caregivers. There are challenges in training nurses, especially new graduate nurses, in the critical care environment, but I find there is no better satisfaction out there than seeing them succeed, each one needing individualized support along the way. I take great pride in being able to call LMHS my second home and my family!

Comments from Jaime Quellhorst, Executive Director

Some people just know how to bring out the best in others, and Wendy Rayl is truly one of those people. Wendy’s work ethic, knowledge, experience and enthusiasm are invaluable to Lima Memorial and just a few reasons why she is so well respected by her patients, peers and providers. Wendy is a go-to person for projects and / or improving on current practices or processes. She always has a solution in mind or is willing to take on the challenge to find benefits for a department or the entire organization. Wendy is always fully invested in whatever she touches. She sees issues through and to completeness—leaving no stone unturned. She seeks input, builds consensus and is always keeping patients at the heart of her focus. Wendy’s team reports that she is an active listener, problem solver and direct support person with a positive attitude. One associate reported that Wendy is the best manager / director they have ever had. May you be proud of the work you do, the person you are and the difference you make. Thank you for the amazing job you do every day, and thank you for 30 years of dedication to Lima Memorial Health System.

NANCY SIATKOSKY LIMA MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM REHABILITATION AT THE YMCA

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

I love being a physical therapist and specializing in pelvic health. It is genuinely an honor to connect with and support my patients and provide the care they often do not even know they need. I frequently hear, “You do what? Well, I didn’t even know that was a thing.” Then I hear, “Thank you. you’ve given me my life back.” That is what Lima Memorial means to me—being given the opportunity to care for and help others through the rough patches in life.

Comments from Anthony Rampulla, Manager

What an honor it is to recognize Nancy for 30 years of service with Lima Memorial. It seems like yesterday we celebrated her 25-year milestone. Where does the time go? Anyone who knows Nancy will tell you about her fun, energetic and enthusiastic personality. Nancy’s greatest attribute is her caring personality and endless compassion to help others. She has dedicated her life to being the best physical therapist, mom, co-worker and friend! Over the years, she has demonstrated progression with her clinical skills and continually advances her education. It started with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, then a master’s and eventually a doctorate. For many years, Nancy worked in all different areas within the physical therapy department. Most recently, she has been covering the pelvic floor clinic, and this remains her focus. This is a perfect space for Nancy to help improve the health and well-being of the community, and it is where she has been able to make the greatest difference. I always enjoy conversations with patients that have received treatment from Nancy because they have so many positive things to say, mostly reiterating how life-changing their pelvic floor therapy has been. Nancy was meant to be a physical therapist, as she embodies everything the profession and Lima Memorial supports, and it all starts with Great Care—care for her patients, family, co-workers and anyone with whom she comes in contact. Words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for Nancy. Thank you for your many extraordinary years here at Lima Memorial!

BRENDA HARRIS LAB-PROF PATHOLOGY

What Does Lima Memorial Mean to You?

I started clinical laboratory assistant school here at LMHS a week after I graduated high school. I left in 1982 to pursue a full-time 3-11 lab tech position at Bluffton Community Hospital, and a few years later, I moved to Marysville, Ohio. I was very excited to return to my LMHS family in 1987. In 1992, I started working in the pathology department of the laboratory. It is hard to believe I have been working in histology for more than 20 years now. Sometimes, I refer to this place as my home away from home. I still prefer the atmosphere of work here at LMHS. Although I do not get out of my department very often, I genuinely enjoy seeing the familiar faces of those I grew up with here at LMHS when I do get out. It is also nice to meet and greet the new employees. My wish for everyone is that they can enjoy their work life as much as I do.

Comments from Sam Schroeder, Director, & Michelle Wiss, Supervisor

Brenda brings a wealth of knowledge to pathology and our laboratory with more than 35 years of experience. She is always willing to go above and beyond for any patient or co-worker. She has a passion for ensuring the high quality and accuracy of our patients’ pathology results. Her strong work ethic and dedication to the laboratory and health system are extraordinary. Brenda does a great job working to keep pathology compliant for CAP accreditations and takes the lead with implementing new equipment in the department. She truly lives the spirit of LMHS and is a huge asset to our laboratory. Congratulations, Brenda!

Jayne was the first nurse in the area to become a certified post anesthesia nurse (CPAN) and has been instrumental in helping several of her colleagues to do the same. Jayne’s career as a nurse goes beyond providing Great Care to her patients by encouraging the nurses around her to continue to grow, learn and be their best. When asked to describe Jayne, her teammates in PACU said they can always depend on her, spoke about her boundless compassion and mentioned what a great role model she is for them. The daily commitment to her patients and support of those who work at her side is unparalleled. As an organization, we are fortunate to have had Jayne here for the last 45 years. Comments from Tiffany Neeley, Manager

Anyone who has ever called the OR desk has probably had the pleasure of speaking with Ms. Snyder. Having worked for Lima Memorial for the last 45 years, Debbie Snyder has manned the main OR desk in the surgery department nearly every day that entire time. She is truly a jack-of-all-trades, and we think of her as the conductor of our own Grand Central Station. Debbie is an incredible resource and knows so much of our history, from the days of typing the entire surgery schedule on a typewriter and hand delivering it to all the hospital floors to the full technological automation we have today. When touring new people, we often introduce her by saying, “This is Debbie. She knows everything. If you have a question, ask her.” Debbie is also very loyal and hardworking. One co-worker stated, “Whether at the desk or running the halls, Debbie always goes above and beyond to meet the needs of the department. Her wealth of knowledge of the surgery department is invaluable.” She is admired by all of her co-workers and will never be able to be replaced. Debbie is truly what Great Care looks like.

Her commitment and loyalty to Lima Memorial and the dietary department is exactly what Great Care looks like. She is just as passionate and eager now to help the hospital grow and thrive as she was 50 years ago. She is always looking for ways to be of better service to our patients and team. We want to congratulate her for all her hard work and dedication throughout these years. Thank you for always being a pillar of this department, Rhonda!
