From the Director Dear Friends, In a year that will go down in history, 2020 came with many challenges but it also brought many blessings. We never could have imagined what God would have in store for us last spring. Despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lilyfield’s team remained committed to serving families in Oklahoma. As Psalm 9:9 reminds us “the Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.” I commend our team’s resilience, dedication and response during this crisis. Our staff was quick to adapt to this situation and came up with innovative and creative solutions. Because of this, not only were we able to continue with our programming, we significantly increased the number of children and families we serve with a variety of supports and services. During this pandemic, our Counseling program moved quickly to predominantly virtual appointments which allowed our clients to continue receiving their mental health services during this vital time. Lilyfield’s Empower programs expanded to include live social media events, Zoom based groups, and a YouTube channel. They even started a food distribution that gives 50-70 families in the local community bags of groceries every Friday. EmpowerOKC and EmpowerTulsa provided take home social-emotional learning kits to children in surrounding areas. Following CDC guidelines and all COVID safety precautions, we were able to offer full day support to children in virtual learning. Our Foster Care and Adoption programs also rose to the occasion. Over 123 children were placed in healthy, healing, loving foster homes last year. Sixteen of those children found permanency through adoption with a Lilyfield family, and 5 families adopted through our private Adoption program. Additionally, we helped facilitate the adoption of 3 children through our Wendy’s Wonderful Kids program. I am proud to say that we maintained uninterrupted operations, even during the most challenging phases of 2020. Lilyfield blessed over 2,000 families last year. Our staff grew from 29 employees to 37. Our programs expanded to include new services and a Hope Center. We could not have answered the call of God and ministered to our communities without your support, commitment and faith in our mission. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Sincerely, Holly Towers, LCSW Executive Director

“If you are considering adoption and wondering what your family will be like, if you could completely love a child that may have started in the body of another woman, if you are strong enough...my answers to you would be as such, your family will look like any family, unique and designed by a God bigger than you. Don’t depend on your love for your baby, truthfully, even born from your own body. You could not love your baby with a godly love without God – depend on that love. Are you strong enough? No, the fact is, if you were, where would be your need for our Father? We are never strong enough to parent any child, to continue through a marriage year after year, or survive illness, but God is. Rest in that. God will accomplish His goals through foster care and adoption with or without you, but you will miss out on some of the greatest joys this side of heaven that will last into eternity.” – Summer and Juan, Lilyfield Adoptive and Foster Parents

EmpowerOKC offers holistic, trauma-informed services for the child and the entire family unit as a whole so that families become safer, more resilient, and engaged in their community. The program provides comprehensive, evidence-based services designed to improve child safety and family stability in communities. We want to build bridges across systems to better serve communities at risk. Our hope for this generation and those to come is that South OKC will be a community where children can be safe and thrive. “You can see the difference, not just in the community, but in the kids... Seeing the assurance that they have something safe, some place [like Empower] that is consistent, that they know that they can count on and know there will not be any fingers pointed at them for their circumstances, or things that are not [within] their control.” - Tiffany Ramirez, EmpowerOKC Program Manager

“I prayed, ‘God send us the child that you know needs US.’ Literally mid prayer, Stephanie Carey, Lilyfield’s Foster Care Coordinator, called and said the words ‘I have twin eightmonth-old boys that need a home TODAY!’ WHAT? TWINS? We were prepared for ONE baby, but God said TWO! After lots of prayer and motivational talks from friends and family, my husband and I decided that we could take on twin eightmonth-old boys! From the moment they came into our lives we just had a feeling that these boys were meant to be ours forever. Sure enough, July 31, 2020 was the best day of our lives! We got to adopt our twin boys and we became a forever family!” - Josh and Michelle, Lilyfield Foster and Adoptive Parents

“In 2020, we saw the importance of mental health services like never before. Our clients experienced a multitude of challenges, including loss of loved ones to COVID-19, loss of employment, virtual school, increased trauma due to racial injustices, limited internet access, increased general anxiety and depression due to isolation, and past traumas being triggered by the loss of routine and connection. Our clinicians were able to adapt quickly to provide telehealth sessions to ensure our clients were not left alone and could continue receiving support safely. Over 70% of our clients who received counseling prior to the pandemic remained engaged, demonstrating the need for and effectiveness of mental health support. Our clients reported feeling grateful to maintain continuity and support each week despite the chaos of the year.” - Ashley Melson, LCSW Lilyfield Clinical Director

Our Mission Lilyfield is focused on providing healthy families for at-risk children and youth. Our programs serve individuals and families impacted by adoption and foster care, as well as those at risk of involvement with the foster care system. We have four program areas: adoption, foster care, family strengthening and child abuse prevention, and specialized counseling for families impacted by adoption, foster care or trauma. Lilyfield’s long term vision is to ensure that children in our community have safe and healthy homes where they can be nurtured and grow to their full potential.
