LILLSTREET ART CENTER 4401 N. Ravenswood Chicago, IL 60640 • 773.769.4226 • www.lillstreet.com

LILLSTREET IS YOUR ART CENTER When you take a class at Lillstreet Art Center, you’ll enjoy professional instruction from our outstanding faculty. But being a student here means so much more. Many of your materials are included in your class fee, you’ll have access to our facilities during generous open studio hours, and you’ll be part of a unique community of artists sharing experiences and techniques with one another. Enjoy extra benefits by becoming a Member. See page 35 for details.

Dear Friends, NEEDS TO BE UPDATED Whether you are taking your first class or have been with us since the beginning, we would like to welcome you to Lillstreet and thank you for your continued support. From our simple beginning in a converted horse barn on Lill Street, which had a single classroom and 11 studios, Lillstreet has grown, moved and changed with the times. We now boast a very modern facility with 22 classrooms and over 50 studios, with a country location in Lakeside, Michigan. We started out with 60 students per session and now serve nearly 10,000 per year, yet you’ll still enjoy a small, attentive and supportive classroom experience. We retain our love of clay, but we have also added new departments that reflect changing tastes and technologies. The world has changed a lot since we began in 1975, but we’ve remained committed to providing the same high quality arts experience. You can count on us to continue to do the things we do best even as we surprise you with the new ones. Our expanded Artist-in-Residence program offers a unique opportunity for students to work side-by-side with practicing artists. The residents work in the classrooms in every department, offering inspiration, assistance and new perspectives. Monthly lectures provide an insight into their artistic practice and a glimpse of their works both finished and in process. A new group of Artists-in Residence will be starting in September, and we are excited to welcome them to Lillstreet. Our visiting artists workshops also offer an exciting opportunity for students to spend time with professional artists from around the country. Check out our offerings for this fall, and look forward to more workshops next year. ArtReach at Lillstreet, our outreach program, bring art to under-served populations, giving education and an outlet for creative expression to over 5,000 people per year in partnerships with schools, hospitals, social service agencies, the City of Chicago, elder care communities, and more. Thank you all for your support for this program. Arts education is sadly neglected in the public school system and other parts of our society. Your continued financial support makes it possible for ArtReach to continue it’s important mission. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support their programs. Thank you for being a part of our community. Our shared commitment to the arts forms a firm foundation for the future, and we look forward to learning and creating with you.

Lillstreet Gallery enhances the educational mission of Lillstreet Art Center by offering students and visitors an opportunity to explore and be inspired by the work of emerging and established artists. It also supports the endeavors of those artists by providing a retail venue for their distinctive, handmade ceramics, jewelry, and textiles. Thematic exhibitions and special events punctuate our ongoing display of functional art, creative toys, cards, art books, and DIY projects for sale in the Artisan Gift Shop.
