AGES 3½-5

Our Summer Camps offer a wide variety of programs for children and young adults. Each week of camp, students from toddler to young adults add to the lively Lillstreet community and have the benefit of working and learning among professional artists working in a variety mediums.

New Times! CLAY & MULTIMEDIA CAMP

We pride ourselves on our creative instructors who provide a guided learning experience designed to maximize each child’s personal creativity. Each camper is seen as an individual with a unique voice, and all students are taught to create fearlessly and to focus on the process of making art more than on the end result. Most importantly, we foster a relaxed and non-competitve envirionment in the classroom and everyone has lots and lots of fun! This year we’re offering more camps than ever, all designed to inspire our campers to create new works of art as they learn and develop new skills. Whether your kids come for just one week or spend the entire summer, we’re thrilled to welcome you to our community.

SUMMER ROCKS AT LILLSTREET!

A WORLD IN A BOX: JOSEPH CORNELL Ages 8-12 Learn about and take inspiration from Joseph Cornell’s boxes and games made from found objects and collaged images. Cornell’s boxes were narratives of magical worlds, others were games, and others still were simply assemblages of interesting objects, clippings, and art materials. In this camp, we would visit the Art Institute to see and study the art of Joseph Cornell, and then make our own Cornell boxes. The students would design a concept, find and make objects for inside of the box, decorate the outside of the box, and emerge with their own interpretations of Cornell’s fun and interesting style. On Tuesday, we’ll spend the day at the Art Institute looking at the Cornell Boxes. 9am-3:30pm Week J Tess Landon $355, Members $350

LUNCHES All campers coming for morning camps will eat lunch with their group. Please be sure to send lunch with your child or order our hot lunch option from the café. You will receive a lunch menu from us in the spring. Please be sure to order your camp lunches at least one week ahead of time as lunches ordered less than one week ahead of time will cost more. We can’t provide refrigeration for bag lunches, so please pack lunches accordingly. Lunch order should be returned with payment to the Lillstreet front desk. Questions regarding the lunches themselves (ingredients, special instructions) should be addressed to First Slice Cafe: 773.506.7380. If your child is going on a field trip, café lunches will be prepared and ready by 9:30 a.m. Please be sure to order the packed field trip option rather than a hot lunch for those days. Teachers will have a cooler to transport all lunches to the field trip location.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Pick up your Pre-K campers (ages 3 ½ to 5) from their classroom inside the building. Pick up all other campers (ages 5+) on the sidewalk outside the building along Ravenswood. Pre-approved individuals MUST sign out all campers. List all approved people on your Emergency form and notify the front desk of any changes. Our teachers will not allow children to go to your car without signing out. Please step out of your car to sign your child out and accompany them off the curb. We have staff outside during drop-off and pick-up times to help with safety. Please be mindful that these are very busy traffic times and use extra caution when pulling in and out of parking spaces. Please instruct your child to enter and exit your vehicle from the curbside door. Time Outside Weather permitting, we’ll take time in the day to go to the park to play and enjoy some time outside. Please dress your child for the weather and send sunscreen, hats, glasses, water bottles, etc, as needed. Be sure to alert your child’s teacher of any special instructions. We walk to Helen Zatterberg play lot located at 4246 North Hermitage Avenue. It is a shaded and gated play lot with a water fountain. Send your child with appropriate footwear for playing at the park; flip-flops are discouraged.
