MEASURINGCONDITIONOFELECTRONICPARTS’ RESISTANCE

Themeasuredresistanceathightemperatureaftervehiclerunningmaybehighorlow.Soallresistancemust bemeasuredatambienttemperature(20℃ ,68℉ ),unless thereisanynotice.

NOTE

Themeasuredresistanceinexceptforambienttemperature(20℃ ,68℉ )isreferencevalue.

INTERMITTENTPROBLEMINSPECTION PROCEDURE

Sometimesthemostdifficultcaseintroubleshootingis whenaproblemsymptomoccursbutdoesnotoccuragain duringtesting.Anexamplewouldbeifaproblemappears onlywhenthevehicleiscoldbuthasnotappearedwhen warm.Inthiscase,technicianshouldthoroughlymake outa"CUSTOMERPROBLEMANALYSISSHEET"and recreate(simulate)theenvironmentandconditionwhich occurredwhenthevehiclewashavingtheissue.

1.ClearDiagnosticTroubleCode(DTC).

2.Inspectconnectorconnection,andcheckterminalfor poorconnections,loosewires,bent,brokenorcorrodedpins,andthenverifythattheconnectorsare alwayssecurelyfastened.

3.Slightlyshaketheconnectorandwiringharnessverticallyandhorizontally.

4.Repairorreplacethecomponentthathasaproblem.

5.Verifythattheproblemhasdisappearedwiththeroad test.

● SIMULATINGVIBRATION

a.SensorsandActuators

:Slightlyvibratesensors,actuatorsorrelayswithfinger.

WARNING Strongvibrationmaybreaksensors,actuatorsor relays

b.ConnectorsandHarness

:Lightlyshaketheconnectorandwiringharnessverticallyandthenhorizontally.

a.Neverpullonthewiringharnesswhendisconnectingconnectors. BFGE015F

b.Whenremovingtheconnectorwithalock,press orpulllockinglever.

c.Listenforaclickwhenlockingconnectors.This soundindicatesthattheyaresecurelylocked.

d.Whenatesterisusedtocheckforcontinuity,orto measurevoltage,alwaysinserttesterprobefrom wireharnessside.

e.Checkwaterproofconnectorterminalsfromthe connectorside.Waterproofconnectorscannot beaccessedfromharnessside.

3.RepairMethodofConnectorTerminal a.Cleanthecontactpointsusingairgunand/or shoprag.

NOTE

Neverusesandpaperwhenpolishingthecontact points,otherwisethecontactpointmaybedamaged.

b.Incaseofabnormalcontactpressure,replace thefemaleterminal.

WIREHARNESSINSPECTIONPROCEDURE

1.Beforeremovingthewireharness,checkthewireharnesspositionandcrimpinginordertorestoreitcorrectly.

• Useafinewiretopreventdamagetotheterminal.

• Donotdamagetheterminalwheninsertingthe testerlead.

2.CheckingPointforConnector

a.Whiletheconnectorisconnected: Holdtheconnector,checkconnectingcondition andlockingefficiency.

b.Whentheconnectorisdisconnected: Checkmissedterminal,crimpedterminalorbrokencorewirebyslightlypullingthewireharness. Visuallycheckforrust,contamination,deformationandbend.

c.Checkterminaltighteningcondition: Insertasparemaleterminalintoafemaleterminal,andthencheckterminaltighteningconditions.

d.Pulllightlyonindividualwirestoensurethateach wireissecuredintheterminal.

2.Checkwhetherthewireharnessistwisted,pulledor loosened.

3.Checkwhetherthetemperatureofthewireharnessis abnormallyhigh.

4.Checkwhetherthewireharnessisrotating,moving orvibratingagainstthesharpedgeofapart.

5.Checktheconnectionbetweenthewireharnessand anyinstalledpart.

6.Ifthecoveringofwireharnessisdamaged;secure, repairorreplacetheharness.

ECM(TICS)PROBLEMINSPECTIONPROCEDURE

1.TestECM(TICS)connector:Disconnectthe ECM(TICS)connectorandvisuallychecktheground terminalsonECM(TICS)sideandharnesssidefor bentpinsorpoorcontactpressure.Iftheproblemis found,repairit.

2.Ifproblemisnotfoundstep1,theECM(TICS)could befaulty.Ifso,replacetheECM(TICS)withanew one,andthencheckthevehicleagain.Ifthevehicle operatesnormallythentheproblemwaslikelywiththe ECM(TICS).

3.Re-testtheoriginalECM(TICS):Installtheoriginal ECM(TICS)(maybebroken)intoaknown-goodvehicleandcheckthevehicle.Iftheproblemoccursagain, replacetheoriginalECM(TICS)withanewone.If problemdoesnotoccur,thisisintermittentproblem (RefertoIntermittentProblemProcedureinBasicInspectionProcedure.)
