FALLFace FORWARD:

Top Aesthetic Trends & Treatments to Know

Personalized care for every face & every phase

by LIKE MEDIA TEAM

As the air turns cooler, skin often responds with dryness, sensitivity, and dullness. This shift calls for more than just a heavier moisturizer—it’s time for a full skincare reset. Med spas are adapting with treatments like barrier-repair facials, enzyme exfoliation, and pigment-correcting options such as lactic acid peels and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy to repair sun damage from the previous season. Clients are also being guided to update their home routines: switching to creamier cleansers, layering hyaluronic acid and ceramides, and continuing sunscreen use despite cloudier skies. The goal now is to reinforce hydration, calm inflammation, and fortify the skin against upcoming stressors.

Subtlety IS IN

Injectables 101: Baby Botox and Preventative Xeomin

Subtlety is in. More people are seeking refined, preventative treatments that allow for expression while maintaining smoother skin. Enter Baby Botox and low-dose Xeomin—neuromodulators designed to soften early fine lines and prevent deeper wrinkles from forming. Providers are embracing a philosophy rooted in restraint, with careful placement and custom dosing based on facial dynamics. This approach often appeals to those looking for a refreshed, not frozen, appearance. Cooler months provide an ideal opportunity for these treatments, with less UV exposure and plenty of time to evaluate outcomes before the end of the year. It’s a new era of injectables—calculated, customizable, and confidence-boosting.

LAYERED, LONG-TERM RESULTS

Beyond the Facial: High-Tech Devices in Demand

Standard facials have evolved into sophisticated skin treatments powered by innovative tools. Technologies like microneedling with RF (radiofrequency), ultrasound lifting, LED light therapy, and oxygen domes are now mainstays in modern med spas. These services target skin laxity, texture, and inflammation with minimal invasiveness and cumulative effects. As seasonal UV levels drop, it’s an excellent time for treatments that involve mild sensitivity postprocedure. Med spas are also combining devices in curated protocols tailored to skin type, lifestyle, and specific goals, often delivering visible improvements within a few sessions. For those seeking more than surface-level glow, modern devices offer layered, long-term results.

less about LOOKING DIFFERENT,more about IMPROVING WHAT’S ALREADY THERE.

Lips, Lasers & Lashes

For clients wanting fast, visible results, a trio of trending services continues to deliver: lip enhancement, lash lifts, and laser resurfacing. Lip fillers today are all about balance—restoring symmetry and hydration without altering natural contours. Lash lifts provide an instant brightening effect with no downtime, while fractional lasers like Halo or Clear + Brilliant help address pigmentation, fine lines, and enlarged pores. Med spas are encouraging service stacking but with strategic timing: lasers first, then injectables, with healing windows in between. The end result is polished, camera-ready skin and features that feel naturally enhanced.

The Rise of Regenerative Beauty

Rather than masking skin issues, regenerative treatments work with the body’s own repair processes to restore tone, elasticity, and vitality.

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), collagen induction therapy, and exosome applications are leading this category, delivering gradual but powerful changes. These treatments are especially effective during lower-sunlight months when the skin can heal without environmental interference. Clients are gravitating toward results that build over time, favoring thicker skin, improved texture, and a glow that stems from increased function, not filler. Regenerative beauty reflects a shift in aesthetics – it’s less about looking different, and more about improving and enhancing what’s already there.

Skin Cycling 2.0

The concept of skin cycling—rotating active ingredients like retinoids, exfoliants, and hydrators—has gained popularity for balancing results with skin health. Now, it’s getting a high-tech upgrade. Providers are using AI-based apps and digital diagnostics to tailor cycling schedules based on each person’s real-time skin condition. By identifying inflammation, barrier damage, or product overload, these tools allow for smarter scheduling and better ingredient selection. The result? Fewer reactions, more glow, and routines that feel as customized as the treatments offered in the clinic. Skin Cycling 2.0 supports both home care education and long-term client satisfaction.

Exosome Therapy: The New PRP?

Exosomes—tiny cellular messengers packed with growth factors—are making waves as the next generation of regenerative skincare. Applied after microneedling or laser procedures, these vesicles accelerate recovery and significantly enhance collagen production. Unlike PRP (platelet-rich plasma), exosomes are lab-developed for consistency and contain concentrated signals that prompt the skin to regenerate. Early adopters report faster healing, improved elasticity, and a brighter complexion. As more med spas add this option to their menu, exosomes are quickly becoming a go-to for clients seeking deeper, more comprehensive results from their treatments.

Skin Barrier Reboot

Years of aggressive exfoliation have led to widespread issues with sensitivity and impaired skin barriers. The new focus? Restoration and resilience. Med spas are embracing protocols centered on postbiotic ingredients, soothing LED light therapy, oxygen infusion, and barrierboosting masks. These treatments help nurture the skin’s microbiome, reduce inflammation, and improve tolerance to active ingredients. Clients with redness, flaking, or reactive skin are seeing the benefits of slowing down and building strength rather than chasing fast results. Healthy skin starts with a healthy barrier, and this season is the time to rebuild.

Minimalist Aesthetics

In an era of overbooked schedules and information overload, simple, effective treatments are gaining ground. Minimalist aesthetics center on procedures that are gentle, efficient, and low-maintenance. JetPeel facials, enzyme-based therapy, and laser toning offer visible improvements without extended downtime or complex aftercare. The “your skin but better” philosophy resonates with clients who want to look refreshed, without committing to frequent visits or layered product routines. This trend values consistency, simplicity, and naturally beautiful outcomes.

Customized Skincare with AI & Scanning Tech

Technology is transforming how med spas evaluate and treat skin. Devices that scan for hydration, elasticity, pore size, and sun damage allow providers to create highly personalized plans, down to product recommendations and treatment timing. This data-driven approach improves trust, encourages consistency, and helps track measurable progress over time. AI tools enhance consultations and ensure that no guesswork is involved, making each visit more effective and efficient. For clients, this means smarter skincare and stronger results.

This season isn’t about reinvention—it’s about refinement. As med spas adopt advanced tools and refined philosophies, clients are empowered to care for their skin in ways that are personalized, restorative, and long-lasting. From emerging technologies to minimalist approaches, there’s something for everyone at any stage of their skincare journey. The next step isn’t a trend, it’s a tailored strategy – and the best time to start is now.

Signature Aesthetics, REAL RESULTS

Trusted treatments with a personal touch

At Signature Aesthetics, every service is more than a procedure. It is a personalized step toward confidence, guided by a team that combines medical expertise with compassionate care. With locations in Sandpoint and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, their clinics have earned a loyal following for a thoughtful approach and transformative results.

Certified Laser Specialist Ali Holloron is a key part of the Signature Aesthetics team, known for her ability to combine advanced treatments with a personalized approach. She began her career as a permanent makeup artist, but it quickly became clear that many clients needed laser tattoo removal before starting new work. “I knew it would give them the best result and would leave them feeling confident about their next treatment,” she says. “I sought out providers to refer them to, but they were few and far between. It interested me, so I thought, ‘I could do this! I should do this!’”

That moment sparked a shift in her career. Today, Ali offers a range of laser services, including Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), laser hair removal, and her specialty: Potenza, a radiofrequency microneedling treatment designed to improve skin tone, texture, and firmness. Signature Aesthetics was proud to be the first in the nation to offer this cutting-edge technology. She often pairs it with CoolSculpting to maximize results.

“I take time to learn what my clients want, what their day-to-day life looks like, and what results matter most to them,” she explains. “Then we build a plan together. The most important thing is making sure they never feel alone in the process.”

That care and connection are exactly what brought Natalya Gall to Signature Aesthetics. A longtime friend of Nancy Andrews, Natalya

“I knew it would give them the best result and would leave them feeling confident about their next treatment,” she says. “I sought out providers to refer them to, but they were few and far between. It interested me, so I thought, ‘I could do this! I should do this!’”

Ali Holloron

We carry luxury skincare products! Stop by to try something new!

Ali Holloron

has received services from both Nancy and Ali, including Botox injections, dermal filler, and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments to refresh and smooth her complexion.

“Nancy and Ali do an excellent job and are very personable,” says Natalya. “They always make me feel comfortable, and I trust their recommendations completely.”

Over time, the treatments gave her more than just visible results. “People often assume I’m younger than I am, which is a great confidence boost,” she shares. “After each visit, I walk out happy and confident.”

Signature Aesthetics continues to stay ahead by offering cutting-edge, noninvasive treatments. Ali is especially excited about new advancements in radiofrequency, which allow for highly customized outcomes with minimal downtime. “Technology is always evolving, and we’re excited to offer treatments that deliver powerful results with minimal downtime,” Ali says. “But even the best tools mean nothing without trust. Clients come in with hopes, questions, and sometimes uncertainty. Our job is to meet them with care, education, and honesty.”

Outside the treatment room, Ali enjoys exploring the outdoors with her three children, attending live music and comedy shows, stargazing, and continually studying new techniques and innovations in aesthetics. “I love learning,” she says. “The more I grow, the more I can give back to my clients.”

That commitment to connection and continued growth is exactly why clients like Natalya return—and refer others. “They’re professional and caring, and the results speak for themselves,” she says. “I’ve recommended Signature Aesthetics to several friends.”

At Signature Aesthetics, beauty is not about changing who you are—it is about enhancing what makes you feel most like yourself. With a blend of expertise, compassion, and personalized care, the team helps every client walk out the door with confidence.

Small Shifts, Big Impact

Habits that stick

Wellness isn’t built through grand gestures; it’s shaped by the everyday moments we repeat. Seasonal transitions offer a unique opportunity to create routines that ground and energize without overwhelming.

One effective way to build consistency is through habit stacking, which involves linking new habits to familiar ones. For example, drink a glass of water while your coffee brews, or add five minutes of stretching after brushing your teeth. These subtle links reduce resistance and help wellness practices stick.

Daily walks in cool, crisp air benefit more than just your body. They’ve been tied to improved mood, creativity, and focus. Adjusting sleep routines to match earlier sunsets by dimming lights earlier or avoiding screens can help recalibrate your natural rhythm and deepen rest.

Hydration plays a vital role this time of year. Cooler temperatures often dull our thirst, yet water is essential for digestion, detoxification, and energy. Warm herbal teas, lemon water, and broths support hydration and seasonal comfort. These aren’t flashy habits, but done consistently, they lay a strong foundation for wellness.

Your Nervous System Needs a Break

Constant digital stimulation has made nervous system overload a common experience. Our bodies weren’t built for nonstop alerts and pressure. This season encourages a step out of fight-or-flight and into something steadier.

Breathwork offers a fast, free reset. Practices like box breathing, 4-7-8, and long exhales activate the parasympathetic nervous system, calming both body and mind. It’s an easy way to introduce pauses into a packed day.

Somatic movement, such as swaying, shaking, or gentle stretching, can release tension held in the body. These practices aren’t about physical output but about helping your system settle.

Red light therapy and vagus nerve stimulation are also gaining popularity. Red light supports tissue repair and mood, especially during darker months. Stimulating the vagus nerve through humming, cold water, or deep breathing has been shown to reduce anxiety and improve digestion. Many local wellness centers now offer access to these tools in classes or seasonal reset packages.

You don’t need to do everything at once. Just choose a few practices that return you to a sense of calm and connection.

Hormone Health at Any Age

Hormone shifts can impact sleep, energy, metabolism, and mood, but they’re often overlooked until symptoms become disruptive. Proactively checking in can offer clarity and relief.

Hormones like cortisol, estrogen, and progesterone influence much more than we realize. More people are turning to naturopathic doctors and functional medicine practitioners to explore underlying imbalances. One commonly used tool is the DUTCH test, which provides a detailed picture of hormonal patterns and stress responses.

While testing can be helpful, you can also tune in by tracking mood, energy, and sleep changes over time. Supporting hormone health through small shifts like cutting back on caffeine, adding magnesium, or balancing meals can make a noticeable difference.

Ultimately, balanced hormones support everything else. When internal systems are regulated, the rest of life feels more manageable.

Stillness has value

Wellness, Not Hustle

Modern culture tends to equate productivity with worth, but wellness doesn’t thrive in constant motion. It flourishes in rhythm, rest, and intention.

Let this time of year remind you that rest isn’t indulgent—it’s essential. Stillness has value. A cup of tea in silence, ten minutes of journaling, or a walk without distractions can anchor you far more than rushing through a checklist.

These quiet rituals build emotional resilience. As holiday demands increase, they require a stable internal rhythm. Simple practices like lighting a candle or stepping outside with awareness can signal your nervous system to settle.

Letting go of hustle culture doesn’t mean abandoning goals. It means redefining progress as something that aligns with your values, capacity, and well-being. That realignment alone can create the space your body and mind have been asking for.

Infrared, IVs & Intermittent Fasting: What’s Real?

Wellness trends spike each season, and while some are beneficial, others can add unnecessary stress. This time of year brings increased interest in infrared saunas, IV therapy, and intermittent fasting. So what’s worth considering?

Infrared saunas are widely used to boost circulation, reduce inflammation, and improve mood, particularly in cooler, darker months. Many local spas offer them as part of wellness memberships or seasonal specials.

IV therapy, often marketed as an immunity or energy booster, can be helpful when recovering from illness or fatigue. However, it’s not a substitute for nutrient-dense food. Think of it as a support tool, not a primary solution.

Time-restricted eating—like 12 to 14-hour overnight fasts— may benefit digestion and metabolic health. But fasting doesn’t work for everyone. If it creates stress, worsens fatigue, or disrupts your hormones, it may be better to focus on gentle nourishment instead.

The bottom line: no single practice defines wellness. Choose what fits your life and body. Tools should lighten your load, not complicate it.

A Reset That Lasts

You don’t need a closet full of activewear, expensive supplements, or a perfect plan to feel better right now. What you need is rhythm, intention, and space to reconnect with what supports you.

Maybe that looks like five minutes of breathing. Maybe it’s a walk around the block. Maybe it’s a slower morning or an earlier bedtime. Wellness doesn’t demand perfection. It asks for presence.

Choose what nourishes you, and let everything else fall away.

THE KNOWLES STANDARD:

Sandpoint Bulldogs Football Legacy

Honoring Coach John Knowles and the standard that still defines Sandpoint High School football

FEATURE ARTICLE #1

JOHN KNOWLES NEVER NEEDED A PULPIT.

His sermons were delivered on sideline hash marks and mountain trails. His faith wasn’t practiced in pews. It was lived in the dirt, in the grind, in the trees—and in the lives he shaped over nearly 50 years of coaching.

And when he took his final breath, it was in the place he felt closest to God—the woods. His church. His sanctuary. His home.

John Knowles didn’t fit neatly into any one box—so don’t try to write him into one.

He was a four-sport athlete. A college football player. A builder. A teacher. A coach. A father. A mentor. A leader. A legend.

But more than anything, he was a man of standards.

He didn’t live with suggestions. He lived by conviction.

He believed in working hard, staying accountable, and doing things the right way—no shortcuts, no excuses, no gray area. You were either holding the line or you weren’t.

He didn’t preach this. He lived it. And it became the measure of the man: The Knowles Standard.

Football, for John, wasn’t just a game—it was a vehicle. A vehicle to teach discipline. Grit. Purpose. Work ethic. He coached with passion. He demanded effort. He expected toughness. He gave everything and expected nothing less from those around him.

And through all the decades of building that program, there was always one man beside him—Coach Mike McNulty.

Quiet where John was intense, softspoken where John was sharp, Mike was the steady voice in the background, the one constant through years of transition. When Title IX shifted everything and Sandpoint’s football program saw coaches come and go, John and Mike stayed.

They weren’t just coaches—they were anchors.

They coached youth. They coached high school. They coached together for generations, often sharing the same mission: helping boys become men. Their own sons played in the program. They coached each other’s boys. And for both men, it was never about trophies. It was about legacy—the kind that gets passed from helmet to heart.

But John’s greatest legacy wasn’t a stadium or a state title. It was the standard he instilled—and the way it took root in his own son.

Ryan Knowles, now in his 24th season as a head coach, didn’t always see eye to eye with his dad. They were different men—at least, that’s what Ryan used to think.

Their relationship wasn’t soft or sentimental. It was forged in long drives to football camps and brutal post-game conversations. After a tough loss, Ryan—physically and emotionally drained—once tried to sit down in silence after the chaos of a Friday night game. Before he could catch his breath, John looked at him and said:

“Why do you think we lost?”

No warm-up. No pat on the back. Just truth. That was the standard. That was John.

And their shared sanctuary— the place where so much of this transformation happened—was the woods.

It wasn’t just about hunting or hiking—it was about time. It was about bonding. It was about building something unspoken. There was no need for small talk. Just presence. Just understanding. Just peace.

So when John passed away in the forest, it wasn’t a tragedy. It was a fullcircle finish. He died where he felt most alive.

That fact alone has been missed by most who’ve tried to write this story.

But not here. Not now.

This is not about death. This is about legacy.

John Knowles gave decades to this town. He built homes that still stand. He built programs that still thrive. And he built boys into men—fathers, coaches, business owners, leaders.

He didn’t do it for applause. He did it because it was right. Because it mattered.

Ask anyone in Sandpoint what Friday Night Football means here. It’s not just a game. It’s a heartbeat. A ritual. A thread in the town’s identity. And John helped stitch it into the soul of the community—not just with concrete and wood, but with discipline and devotion.

He didn’t hand out playbooks on how to live. He lived it. He modeled it. He handed players the standard.

And now, his son, Ryan, carries it forward.

They coached together for generations, often sharing the same mission: helping boys become men.

Ryan often reflects on how hard his father was on him—how the players he coaches today got a different version. But every ounce of that toughness planted something that still grows.

And now, the older Ryan gets, the more his father’s voice becomes his own. The more he walks through fire, the more he realizes his father was forging him for the journey ahead.

He isn’t trying to recreate his father’s footsteps. He’s walking in them—with the same toughness, the same clarity, the same fire. In a world that constantly shifts the goalposts, Ryan still believes in showing up, setting expectations, and holding the line.

Even now—amid personal battles no one sees—he remains steady. Present. Committed. Because that’s what the job demands.

“It’s about molding young men,” he says. “It’s about preparing them for life.

That’s not just coaching. That’s conviction. That’s calling. That’s the Knowles Standard.

Ryan couldn’t recall any “dad-isms”—but he didn’t need to.

The Knowles Standard wasn’t about words.

It was a way of life. It was a foundation. And it lives on in him now.

The woods still whisper. The games are still played. The voice still echoes.

John Knowles didn’t just coach football. He coached life.

And the Knowles Standard goes on.

That’s not just coaching. That’s conviction. That’s calling. That’s the Knowles Standard.

THE KNOWLES STANDARD

What does it mean?

It means showing up when it’s hard.

It means putting in the work when no one’s watching. It means doing things the right way, even when it's inconvenient.

It means not asking for credit—just doing your job. It means standing firm when others fold.

It means raising your kids to be resilient, not coddled.

It means being the same man in the woods, in the locker room, and in the living room.

It means living with conviction.

When Healthcare Becomes a Financial Choice

Bonner General Health offers lower-cost MRI and CT scans for self-pay patients

Have you, or someone you know, ever questioned whether to get essential healthcare due to cost? If you are like most people, cost is always a consideration. In response, Bonner General Health (BGH) has introduced a new cash pay MRI and CT program. These options represent a shift in how BGH traditionally engages with patients. So, what prompted this change, and who is it designed to help?

Healthcare has evolved into a consumer-focused market. Price transparency, consumer choice, and cost sharing, especially through high-deductible insurance plans, were introduced to help control healthcare expenses. However, these strategies have shifted more of the financial burden onto patients. Quality care at the lowest cost has become the mantra of those shopping for essential medical care.

What drives patients’ decisions about whether and where to seek care? Healthcare decisions are shaped by cost and value, which are influenced by factors like quality, convenience, access, and out-ofpocket expenses. Online reviews, proximity to providers, ease of scheduling, insurance coverage, and current deductible status all play a role in where a patient ultimately goes.

With so many considerations, healthcare decisions have become more complicated. There was a time when patients had only two decisions to make: whether to seek care and where to seek it. Now, many face a third question: Should I even use my insurance?

For example, if your deductible is $5,000 and you need an MRI, you could be responsible for the full cost, which may be around $2,000. This is where healthcare consumers have helped change market conditions. Many consumers are asking the question, “If I pay cash up front, will it ultimately save me money?” The reality for many is that it could.

With the growing number of patients seeking cash options to reduce their out-of-pocket costs, BGH is meeting the consumer where they are. By launching discounted cash pricing for MRI and CT, BGH is seeking to increase access to needed care close to home at a price that helps the consumer navigate the difficult space between cost and convenience. Cost and proximity to care are two of the main reasons patients decide not to seek needed healthcare. Ensuring patients have access to quality care at a reasonable price is a great way to ensure that our community is healthy and well. Cost and access to care in our small but growing community should not be the reason to avoid medical care. Instead, cost and access should motivate people to seek needed care.

For questions about cash pay, call Bonner General Health at 208.265.1285.

SEASONAL

TIP

CREATE A FALL PORCH MOMENT

Capture the charm of the season by giving your front porch a cozy, seasonal upgrade. Start with natural elements like hay bales, cornstalks, and colorful mums. Add lanterns, pumpkins, and a doormat with autumn flair to welcome guests warmly. Layer a plaid throw or cushion for extra comfort on cooler evenings. This small outdoor space becomes the perfect spot to sip cider, greet neighbors, and enjoy the crisp air and falling leaves.

Thanksgiving with Confidence: A fresh approach to an old favorite

Hosting Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be stressful— it just takes a little intention. Start by building your menu around what you love and feel confident cooking. Then, create a realistic timeline: shop early, prepare what you can in the days leading up, and set the table the night before guests arrive. Keep décor meaningful and straightforward—mini pumpkins, candles, or even handwritten place cards can add a personal touch. Finally, remember what matters most. Greet guests with warmth, keep drinks flowing, and don’t stress if everything isn’t perfect. Laughter, conversation, and gratitude are what make the meal memorable.

What the new federal tax provisions mean for you

This article was written by Edward

for use by your local

Now that the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” has become federal law, there is a lot to unpack for American taxpayers and investors. Here, we’ll focus on the tax impacts.

For starters, the law permanently extends certain major tax provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that were set to expire at the end of this year, such as permanently extending lower income tax rates for individuals, the higher standard deduction, the expanded child tax credit, the higher alternative minimum tax (AMT) exemption and phase-in thresholds, and the higher federal estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax exemption ($15 million per individual and $30 million for married couples in 2026).

But as the name of the law says, the act is “big,” and there are a number of other changes that could impact American taxpayers. Here’s a closer look:

Individuals: The new law delivers several changes that can help individuals further reduce their taxes, including the temporary ability for taxpayers below certain income thresholds to deduct portions of income for individuals age 65 or older, overtime pay, qualified tips and interest on qualified passenger-vehicle loans; a slightly higher charitable contribution deduction for nonitemizers beginning in 2026 ($1,000 for single filers and $2,000 for joint returns); and greater flexibility to use 529 accounts for K-12 and homeschooling expenses.

The act also extends certain TCJA provisions that limit or eliminate some tax benefits, like the elimination of personal exemptions, limits on the state and local tax deduction (albeit with a higher cap, which is subject to phaseout, through 2029), limits on the amount and type of loans eligible for the mortgage interest deduction and the termination of miscellaneous itemized deductions. Additionally, there are new changes that could increase taxes for some individuals, such as a new 35% rate cap on itemized deductions and a new floor for itemized deductions of charitable contributions, both beginning in 2026, as well as the elimination of several clean-energy credits.

Businesses: The new law extends or enhances several tax benefits that could help firms up and down Main Street, as well as America’s farmers. For example, it permanently extends TCJA’s “qualified business income” deduction (often referred to as the “199A deduction”) for individuals who own “pass-through” businesses (businesses other than sole proprietorships for which owners report business income on their individual tax returns) and increases phase-in thresholds for the deduction, which may allow more individuals to qualify.

It also permanently reinstates the 100% bonus depreciation deduction for qualifying assets placed into service after Jan. 19, 2025; permanently reinstates the ability for small businesses to immediately deduct the full amount of qualified domestic research and development (R&D) expenses in the year they’re incurred (which may be retroactively applied for qualifying small businesses); and for purposes of calculating business interest limitations, permanently reinstates the exclusion of depreciation and amortization expenses in the limitation base.

Additionally, small business owners and farmers may benefit from an increase to the allowable expense for qualifying property from $1 million to $2.5 million, potentially enabling them to expense more business equipment purchases. And, finally, the act extends or enhances tax credits for employer-provided childcare and paid family and medical leave benefits.

Individuals and businesses can use additional tax savings to meet current expenses or toward a financial goal, like saving for retirement or moving forward with a business expansion. Consider consulting financial, tax, and legal professionals to help assess specific situations.

The Calm Before the Ceremony

A GROUNDED APPROACH TO WEDDING DAY WELLNESS AND BEAUTY

Your wedding day is a celebration of love, connection, and the beginning of something beautiful. It’s also a moment where you deserve to feel completely confident, from the inside out. Preparing your health, beauty, and mindset ahead of time isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about honoring yourself during a season filled with emotion, joy, and anticipation. With the right approach, you’ll not only look amazing, you’ll feel grounded, present, and fully ready to enjoy every second.

Glow From the Inside Out

Confidence on your wedding day isn’t about achieving a flawless standard—it’s about feeling like the best version of yourself. When you feel good, you look good. And when you’re at peace with your preparation, your joy becomes undeniable.

Start with Skin

Healthy skin is the foundation of your wedding day glow. Establish a consistent routine at least six months in advance, incorporating gentle exfoliation, hydration, and daily SPF. Schedule regular facials with a licensed esthetician and stay loyal to what works— avoid experimenting with new products right before the big day.

Hair Care is Self-Care

If you plan to color or cut your hair, do it well in advance to allow time for any adjustments. Weekly deep conditioning masks, heat protection, and regular trims will help restore shine and strength to your hair. Book your stylist early for both the trial and wedding day, and bring your veil or accessories to the trial to see the whole look come together.

Make Your Makeup Work

Your wedding makeup should reflect your natural style. Schedule a trial at least a few weeks in advance, and take photos in both natural and indoor light to ensure you love how it translates on camera. Ask your artist for products that are long-wear and photo-friendly, and don’t forget to test your final look with your whole outfit, including accessories.

Strength Over Stress

Rather than chasing a specific size or look, prioritize movement that supports your mood and posture. Strength training, walking, or yoga can reduce stress and increase confidence leading up to the big day. Make movement part of your weekly rhythm, and let it be something that grounds you rather than pressures you.

Eat to Feel Your Best

A whole-foods-based approach—rich in leafy greens, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fresh fruit—will naturally support energy, skin clarity, and digestion. Stay hydrated with water and herbal teas, and reduce processed snacks and added sugars that can lead to bloating or fatigue. The goal isn’t to restrict—it’s to nourish.

Maintenance Treatments

The importance of follow-up for lasting results

Bri Williams, WHNP-BC Refined Aesthetics Med Spa, pllc SandpointMedSpa.com 215 Cedar St., Sandpoint 208.304.7535

In aesthetic medicine, maintenance is crucial for achieving and sustaining desired results. Just like a good skincare routine, aesthetic treatments require ongoing care to ensure longevity. Many procedures, such as fillers and Botox, wear off over time, necessitating follow-up sessions to maintain a youthful appearance. Regular maintenance not only prolongs the effects of treatments but also allows for subtle adjustments, enhancing overall results. Additionally, consistent care helps to address any skin changes or concerns that may arise. By committing to a maintenance plan with your provider, you can enjoy lasting beauty and confidence, making every investment in your appearance worthwhile.

Protect Your Peace

Planning a wedding can get overwhelming. Schedule time each week to unplug, breathe, and center yourself. Whether it’s journaling, a walk without your phone, or reading something non-wedding related, that mental reset is essential. Your emotional well-being is just as important as your beauty routine.

Sleep Like It Matters—Because It Does

Sleep is when your body resets, your skin repairs, and your emotions regulate. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, prioritize 7–8 hours of quality sleep each night. It will do more for your appearance than any last-minute beauty product ever could.

Don’t Skip the Grooming Timeline

Timing matters. Schedule your brow shaping and waxing three to five days in advance. Get your spray tan one to two days before the event. Plan your final facial at least one week in advance, and complete any injectable or new treatments four to six weeks out. Don’t gamble with last-minute changes—test everything in advance to avoid surprises.

Encourage Your Partner to Prep Too

They’ll be in the photos, too! A fresh haircut, skincare routine, or even a stress-relieving massage can help your partner feel just as confident

and ready. It’s a shared celebration, and shared preparation only strengthens your connection.

You Define Beautiful

You don’t need to fit a mold to look radiant. The beauty that shines on your wedding day comes from alignment—when your health, mindset, and energy come together in harmony. Let go of pressure and lean into preparation that feels authentic.

Presence Over Perfection

What your guests will remember is how you lit up the room, how you looked at your partner, and how happy you felt on the big day. When you prioritize yourself—not for vanity, but for wellness—you permit yourself to be fully present. That presence is the most beautiful thing of all.

No matter how elaborate your plans or simple your ceremony, the most unforgettable part of your wedding day will always be how you felt. When you’re rested, nourished, supported, and calm, that confidence radiates in every photo and memory. Prioritize what makes you feel beautiful—not just on the outside, but throughout your whole being. The most powerful glow you can wear is one that comes from true alignment, peace, and love.

Where the Light Finds You

Wedding days stretch from soft morning light to golden hour to after-dark flash. Your look should shift with it. Avoid SPF with flashback. Choose makeup that performs well under both warm and cool lighting conditions. Ask your photographer when your portraits will be taken, and prepare for that light. Weather sets the mood, but lighting defines the memory.

CEREMONY-READY Scentscape

You’ll remember how it looked—but you’ll also remember how it smelled.

Here’s how to create a signature scent moment that lingers in all the right ways:

What you’ll need:

• One soft, long-wear personal fragrance

• A room spray or oil diffuser for your prep space

• A scented detail: veil, handkerchief, vow book, or bouquet ribbon

What to do:

• Put on your fragrance before getting dressed so it lasts through the day.

• Spray the room or turn on the diffuser about an hour before you arrive to keep it fresh but not overpowering.

• Lightly scent your chosen detail so it will bring back memories whenever you smell it again.

Shop, Stay & Play

There’s something about fall in Sandpoint that hits just right. The pace slows down, the streets feel quieter, and the colors—well, they do most of the talking. Whether you live here and need a reason to play tourist for a day, or you’re coming in for a weekend getaway, this time of year is when Sandpoint really shows off. Here’s your guide to shopping, staying, and playing like a local this fall.

Shop

Downtown comes alive in a different way when the air turns crisp. Step inside the Cedar Street Bridge Public Market and you’ll find small shops packed with personality—locally made jewelry, handmade soaps, art, huckleberry treats, and more. It’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time in the best way.

If you’re on the hunt for fall gifts or seasonal décor, Sharon’s Hallmark is always worth a stop. Their displays change with the season, and somehow they always have just the thing you didn’t know you were looking for.

For layering up in something warm and stylish, Finan McDonald Clothing Co. strikes the perfect balance between comfort and quality. Flannels, fleeces, boots, jackets—it’s all there, plus some of the best customer service downtown.

Stay

Whether you’re booking a night away from your own house or visiting from out of town, fall is the perfect time to cozy up in Sandpoint. The Lodge at Sandpoint offers front-row seats to Lake Pend Oreille and a quiet, grown-up vibe that’s hard to beat. There’s a fireplace lounge, a small private beach, and views that feel like they were made for a postcard.

Fun Fact

Did you know Sandpoint is surrounded by more than just fall colors—it’s surrounded by huckleberries? North Idaho’s state fruit thrives in the wild and peaks in late summer through early fall. Locals head into the mountains for secret-pick spots, but you can still catch the flavor in fall through huckleberry jams, syrups, baked goods, and even craft brews around town.

ALPINE SHOP

Alpine Shop is one of the largest watersports and snow sports outfitters in the Inland Northwest. Offering both a downtown location and shop at Schweitzer, they make it easy to find what you’re looking for, no matter the season.

And if you’re looking for easy comfort close to everything, Best Western Edgewater Resort delivers. Steps from the lake and just across the bridge from downtown, it’s a reliable pick with unbeatable convenience.

Play

Fall outdoors in Sandpoint is as good as it gets. The trails are quiet, the lake is calm, and the views—yeah, they’re something else.

Action Water Sports still rents kayaks and paddleboards through the fall (weather permitting), and there’s nothing quite like gliding across glassy water surrounded by red and gold leaves. Or hop on a scenic tour with Lake Pend Oreille Cruises and take in the season from the comfort of the deck.

At Schweitzer, the fall trail system remains open until the snow arrives. You’ll get wide-open views of the valley below, and there’s always something going on at the village—from chairlift rides to Oktoberfest-style events. When winter shows up, skiing and snowboarding aren’t far behind.

Need a break from the outdoors? The Panida Theater is a local treasure. Check the marquee for indie films, concerts, or local performances. For a quieter afternoon, head to the Bonner County History Museum and dig into some of the stories that shaped this town.

Fall in Sandpoint doesn’t try too hard—and that’s exactly the point. It’s a time to slow down, savor what’s in season, and remember what makes this place feel like home (even if it’s your first visit). So grab your jacket, grab a friend, and make a day—or a weekend—of it. See you out there.
