As the air turns cooler, skin often responds with dryness, sensitivity, and dullness. This shift calls for more than just a heavier moisturizer—it’s time for a full skincare reset. Med spas are adapting with treatments like barrier-repair facials, enzyme exfoliation, and pigment-correcting options such as lactic acid peels and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy to repair sun damage from the previous season. Clients are also being guided to update their home routines: switching to creamier cleansers, layering hyaluronic acid and ceramides, and continuing sunscreen use despite cloudier skies. The goal now is to reinforce hydration, calm inflammation, and fortify the skin against upcoming stressors.
Injectables 101: Baby Botox and Preventative Xeomin
Subtlety is in. More people are seeking refined, preventative treatments that allow for expression while maintaining smoother skin. Enter Baby Botox and low-dose Xeomin—neuromodulators designed to soften early fine lines and prevent deeper wrinkles from forming. Providers are embracing a philosophy rooted in restraint, with careful placement and custom dosing based on facial dynamics. This approach often appeals to those looking for a refreshed, not frozen, appearance. Cooler months provide an ideal opportunity for these treatments, with less UV exposure and plenty of time to evaluate outcomes before the end of the year. It’s a new era of injectables—calculated, customizable, and confidence-boosting.
Standard facials have evolved into sophisticated skin treatments powered by innovative tools. Technologies like microneedling with RF (radiofrequency), ultrasound lifting, LED light therapy, and oxygen domes are now mainstays in modern med spas. These services target skin laxity, texture, and inflammation with minimal invasiveness and cumulative effects. As seasonal UV levels drop, it’s an excellent time for treatments that involve mild sensitivity post-procedure. Med spas are also combining devices in curated protocols tailored to skin type, lifestyle, and specific goals, often delivering visible improvements within a few sessions. For those seeking more than surface-level glow, modern devices offer layered, long-term results.
For clients wanting fast, visible results, a trio of trending services continues to deliver: lip enhancement, lash lifts, and laser resurfacing. Lip fillers today are all about balance—restoring symmetry and hydration without altering natural contours. Lash lifts provide an instant brightening effect with no downtime, while fractional lasers like Halo or Clear + Brilliant help address pigmentation, fine lines, and enlarged pores. Med spas are encouraging service stacking but with strategic timing: lasers first, then injectables, with healing windows in between. The end result is polished, cameraready skin and features that feel naturally enhanced.

Rather than masking skin issues, regenerative treatments work with the body’s own repair processes to restore tone, elasticity, and vitality. PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin), collagen induction therapy, and exosome applications are leading this category, delivering gradual but powerful changes. These treatments are especially effective during lower-sunlight months when the skin can heal without environmental interference. Clients are gravitating toward results that build over time, favoring thicker skin, improved texture, and a glow that stems from increased function, not filler. Regenerative beauty reflects a shift in aesthetics –it’s less about looking different, and more about improving and enhancing what’s already there.
The concept of skin cycling—rotating active ingredients like retinoids, exfoliants, and hydrators—has gained popularity for balancing results with skin health. Now, it’s getting a high-tech upgrade. Providers are using AI-based apps and digital diagnostics to tailor cycling schedules based on each person’s real-time skin condition. By identifying inflammation, barrier damage, or product overload, these tools allow for smarter scheduling and better ingredient selection. The result? Fewer reactions, more glow, and routines that feel as customized as the treatments offered in the clinic. Skin Cycling 2.0 supports both home care education and long-term client satisfaction.
Exosomes—tiny cellular messengers packed with growth factors—are making waves as the next generation of regenerative skincare. Applied after microneedling or laser procedures, these vesicles accelerate recovery and significantly enhance collagen production. Unlike PRP (platelet-rich plasma), exosomes are lab-developed for consistency and contain concentrated signals that prompt the skin to regenerate. Early adopters report faster healing, improved elasticity, and a brighter complexion. As more med spas add this option to their menu, exosomes are quickly becoming a go-to for clients seeking deeper, more comprehensive results from their treatments.
Years of aggressive exfoliation have led to widespread issues with sensitivity and impaired skin barriers. The new focus? Restoration and resilience. Med spas are embracing protocols centered on postbiotic ingredients, soothing LED light therapy, oxygen infusion, and barrier-boosting masks. These treatments help nurture the skin’s microbiome, reduce inflammation, and improve tolerance to active ingredients. Clients with redness, flaking, or reactive skin are seeing the benefits of slowing down and building strength rather than chasing fast results. Healthy skin starts with a healthy barrier, and this season is the time to rebuild.
In an era of overbooked schedules and information overload, simple, effective treatments are gaining ground. Minimalist aesthetics center on procedures that are gentle, efficient, and low-maintenance. JetPeel facials, enzymebased therapy, and laser toning offer visible improvements without extended downtime or complex aftercare. The “your skin but better” philosophy resonates with clients who want to look refreshed, without committing to frequent visits or layered product routines. This trend values consistency, simplicity, and naturally beautiful outcomes.
Med spas are welcoming more male clients than ever before, thanks in part to a shift in how wellness and aesthetics are discussed. Botox for jaw tension or frown lines, laser hair removal for grooming ease, and easy-to-follow skincare plans are popular among this growing demographic. Providers are tailoring services to meet men’s goals—efficiency, discretion, and visible results. These clients aren’t necessarily seeking transformation; they want to feel better in their skin, present professionally, and care for themselves in a streamlined way.
Customized Skincare with AI & Scanning Tech
Non-surgical body sculpting sees a surge during the colder months. Treatments like CoolSculpting, Emsculpt, and RF skin tightening help clients target areas of stubborn fat or muscle tone without surgery. Providers often bundle sessions into seasonal packages, encouraging clients to begin during slower months and enjoy visible results by spring. What is the advantage of starting now? Recovery is easier under layers, and treatment consistency is more manageable without summer travel. These services work best with momentum, and this time of year offers just that.
Technology is transforming how med spas evaluate and treat skin. Devices that scan for hydration, elasticity, pore size, and sun damage allow providers to create highly personalized plans, down to product recommendations and treatment timing. This data-driven approach improves trust, encourages consistency, and helps track measurable progress over time. AI tools enhance consultations and ensure that no guesswork is involved, making each visit more effective and efficient. For clients, this means smarter skincare and stronger results.
This season isn’t about reinvention—it’s about refinement. As med spas adopt advanced tools and refined philosophies, clients are empowered to care for their skin in ways that are personalized, restorative, and long-lasting. From emerging technologies to minimalist approaches, there’s something for everyone at any stage of their skincare journey. The next step isn’t a trend, it’s a tailored strategy – and the best time to start is now.
A five-day journey into America’s history and heritage
by LIKE MEDIA TEAM
Boundary County Middle School students will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to travel to Washington, D.C., in June 2026 and discover their nation's capital during a five-day educational excursion from June 7 to 11. Organized by Paula Burt and supported by a dedicated school staff team, the trip’s primary goal is clear: “to provide an educational yet fun trip for students to learn more about the history of our nation and see the heart of where our government works from.”
The schedule features visits to famous landmarks and historical locations. The group will tour the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial before exploring the White House and Capitol Hill, as well as multiple war memorials, including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The National Museum of Natural History, the Air and Space Museum, and the American History Museum, located within the Smithsonian insitution, are essential stops for visitors. “Probably one of my favorite places is Mount Vernon, to walk where George Washington himself built a home,” Paula shares.
A successful trip requires both dedication and organizational skills. Enrollment for the journey remains open until March 2026; thirty students have already registered. Fundraising plays a crucial role in making the trip accessible, and the group organizes various activities, including selling Krispy Kreme donuts and Little Caesars pizza kits, as well as hosting an online auction featuring student-offered services and treats. “I also encourage students to think about what they can do to help raise money on their own,” Paula adds, noting creative efforts like selling handmade crafts or offering services like lawn care and car washes.
The trip is open to students currently enrolled in grades 6-7, typically ages 11-13. Given the bustling urban environment of D.C., Paula emphasizes the importance of good behavior and the ability to follow instructions. “In the past trips, I have always been so impressed with how well our students from Bonners Ferry present themselves and behave,” Paula says, highlighting the positive feedback from tour guides.
The educational aspect of the trip is integrated into every stop, offering students an opportunity to learn in an engaging and relatable way. Tour guides, often educators themselves, provide rich historical insights and context at each location. Paula notes, “The tour guides try to speak in terms that the students can understand,” ensuring the learning experience is engaging and relatable. Smithsonian Museums further enhance the trip with interactive activities that captivate students’ curiosity.
Paula’s dedication to this program is evident in her long-standing involvement. Having taken on the role at the request of a colleague, she collaborates with Mrs. Roemer and other staff members in Bonners Ferry to create a safe, well-organized, and enriching experience. Paula points out, “Having a tour bus drop you off at the front door without the hassle of D.C. traffic and parking, not having to worry about finding a place to eat every day, and having a personal concierge at the hotel is so nice.”
For more information or to sign up, contact Paula Burt at 360.780.0701 or visit WorldStrides.com/register using Trip ID 219220. This is more than a trip; it’s a journey into the heart of American history.

BRINGING HOPE AND THANKSGIVING TO THE TABLE
When families gather around the table this Thanksgiving, many in Boundary County will be blessed with a meal made possible by the generosity of neighbors, businesses, and churches working together. The 2nd Annual Turkey Meal Giving Day, brought to life by the Banuet Family and Community Action Partnership (CAP) Bonners Ferry office, has become a beacon of light during the holiday season.
In October 2024, when CAP’s longtime Ministerial Team leader moved away, the Banuet Family stepped in to carry forward the holiday food drive. With just weeks to prepare, they raised over $6,000 from local businesses and donors. Their efforts allowed more than 100 families to enjoy a full Thanksgiving meal. This year, they aim even higher, hoping to serve 150 families with the help of the community.
Each Thanksgiving Meal Kit includes everything needed for a feast: a full-size frozen turkey, dinner rolls, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, stuffing, instant potatoes, and a pie. Valued at $35–$50 per kit, the goal is to raise $5,300 to cover all 150 families.
Sign-ups for meal kits happen directly through CAP at their Bonners Ferry office, located at 6665 Main Street. Families simply provide their name, phone number, household size, by
The inspiration behind this effort is rooted in Matthew 5:14-16: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” For the Banuet Family and CAP, these words reflect the spirit of Bonners Ferry, a community of lights working together to uplift one another.
and preferred pickup time on November 22 to receive their Thanksgiving Meal Ticket. For those wishing to help, donations can be made by calling 208-889-1493. CAP also welcomes businesses, churches, and individuals to host donation drives for key food items.
The impact of this event is deeply felt. Last year, one single father shared how receiving a meal kit allowed him to host Thanksgiving dinner for his children for the very first time. Another unforgettable moment came during a snowstorm while picking up turkeys from Safeway. Just as conditions grew challenging, Richard Beck of Beck’s Furniture arrived with his box truck, ready to help. “Forever thankful for you, Rich!” recalls Samantha Banuet.
Generosity continues to pour in from across the community. Safeway, Grocery Outlet, Alliance Title & Escrow, and Boundary Shipping were among last year’s key partners, alongside numerous local businesses and families. This year, new supporters, including Chapa Chicken Ranch, Evergreen Home Loan, Bushnell Law, Hank Willis Dentistry, Rotary Club of Bonners Ferry, and Super 1 Foods, have joined the cause.
Community Action Partnership’s mission extends far beyond the holidays. Through its Futures Project Theory of Change, CAP works to help residents become basic-needs secure, equips families to exit poverty, and builds a strong network of support through partnerships.
As the holiday season approaches, the message is simple: Bonners Ferry shines brightest when its people come together. “We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other,” CAP shares. This Thanksgiving, that light will once again shine through 150 homes across Boundary County.

well-child visits for lifelong health
by DANIELLE LARSSON, Boundary Community Hospital
Boundary Community Clinics is pleased to welcome Dr. Hailey Rose, Pediatrician, to its medical team beginning August 2025.
A familiar face to many, Dr. Rose is a Bonners Ferry native who once worked at Boundary Community Hospital as a CNA in the early 2000s. Now, she returns as a board-certified pediatrician ready to serve the children and families of her hometown.
“It’s always been my dream to come back and practice here,” said Dr. Rose. “I’m honored to care for this community’s kids and work in the same clinic where Dr. Ernie Lucero made such a difference.”
Dr. Rose provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients from birth through age 18, with flexibility for established patients heading off to college. Her approach to pediatrics is grounded in respect for parents and strong partnerships with families. She emphasizes open conversations, particularly on important topics such as vaccines, child development, and emotional health.
One of Dr. Rose’s top priorities is encouraging families to stay on schedule with annual well-child checks. These visits are often seen as
routine, but they serve a critical role in keeping children healthy— especially as they grow and change rapidly through different life stages.
“Well-child checks are about more than just growth charts and shots,” Dr. Rose explained. “They’re our chance to catch things early— developmental delays, learning challenges, mental health struggles, or safety issues. We can offer guidance, reassurance, and early interventions that make a lasting difference.”
In a rural community where access to specialists can be limited, providers like Dr. Rose are trained to handle a wide range of concerns. From managing asthma to navigating puberty to supporting families with sleep or behavior issues, she brings both expertise and empathy to every appointment. With new services like pediatric echocardiograms now available at Boundary Community Hospital, patients also have more access to specialty-level diagnostics close to home.
Dr. Rose is currently accepting new patients at Boundary Community Clinics. To schedule a well-child check or learn more about pediatric services, call (208) 267-3655.
Auctions go live on designated Saturdays and close the following Thursday at 6pm. Viewing and pre-bidding starts the Friday before auctions open. Bid online or in person! Visit their website for a full schedule and additional information.

A fresh approach to an old favorite
Hosting Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be stressful—it just takes a little intention. Start by building your menu around what you love and feel confident cooking. Then, create a realistic timeline: shop early, prepare what you can in the days leading up, and set the table the night before guests arrive. Keep décor meaningful and straightforward—mini pumpkins, candles, or even handwritten place cards can add a personal touch. Finally, remember what matters most. Greet guests with warmth, keep drinks flowing, and don’t stress if everything isn’t perfect. Laughter, conversation, and gratitude are what make the meal memorable.

1. SWAP OUT SEASONAL DECOR
Pack away summer’s bold colors and replace them with warm, earthy tones. Think cozy throw blankets, plaid pillow covers, and natural touches, such as dried leaves or wooden accents. These subtle changes bring fall indoors.
2. LAYER YOUR LIGHTING
As daylight fades, lighting makes all the difference. Add table lamps, lanterns, or candles in living spaces to create a soft, inviting glow. Dimmers and warm-toned bulbs can also instantly transform the mood of a room.
3. TIDY UP HIGH-TRAFFIC ZONES
Give attention to entryways and living areas before the holiday season. Wipe down baseboards, shake out rugs, and organize shoes or backpacks to maintain a calm, cozy environment throughout the fall and beyond.

You’ll remember how it looked—but you’ll also remember how it smelled.
Here’s how to create a signature scent moment that lingers in all the right ways:
What you’ll need:
• One soft, long-wear personal fragrance
•A room spray or oil diffuser for your prep space
• A scented detail: veil, handkerchief, vow book, or bouquet ribbon
Scent imprints memory. A whiff years later brings it all rushing back—in the best way.
