Abstract
La importancia de la literatura infantil y juvenil está todavía en tela de juicio. Para mantener el diálogo sobre la necesidad e importancia de estudiarla y difundirla, este artículo presenta un análisis de tres elementos: el libro Show me a story! Why Picture Books Matter. Conversations with 21 of the World’s Most Celebrated Illustrators (¡Muéstrame una historia! La razón por la que los libros álbum importan. Conversaciones con los veintiún ilustradores más célebres del mundo) del crítico literario Leonard S. Marcus; la exposición en la Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York, que inspiró este libro – The A B C of it: Why children’s books matter (¿Por qué importan los libros para niños?) –; y la entrevista que realicé al autor en su lugar de trabajo. This article discusses the book Show me a story! Why Picture Books Matter. Conversations with 21 of the World’s Most Celebrated Illustrators written by the literary critic Leonard S. Marcus, the exhibition that he curated at the New York Public Library – The A B C of it: Why children’s books matter – and a personal interview to that same expert. It also pretends to give more arguments in favor of the importance of studying children’s literature, and the urgency of certifying this type of schooling.
