RoselawnTheatreisoperatedunderourCity’sdepartmentof MuseumandCulture,whereartshows,exhibitsandeventstake placeyear-round,atthetheatre,insidetheheritagemansion,and outsideonthelawn.
Personalconnectionsaside,theartsaretrulyalivehereinPort Colborne,asvolunteers,sponsors,andpatronsareinvolvedwiththefestival throughouttheyear.

WelcometoTheNewCanadianCurlingClub.Whatevercountryyoucomefrom, howeverlongyou’vebeeninCanada;whetheryou’reanexperiencedcurler,or you’veneverthrownarock,I’mgladyou’rehere.
Thisplayoriginallypremieredin2018.Sittingherein2025,itstrikesmethata storyaboutimmigration,prejudice,andnationalidentityismorerelevantthan ever.Withthreatstooursovereignty,manyCanadiansaretakingacloserlookat whoweareandwhatwestandfor.Lotsofusareexperiencingarenewedsense ofpatriotism.(Elbowsup!)Butdespiteallhergreatqualities,Canadaisn’t perfect.Asatheatre-maker,though,that’sthegoodstuff:conflict!I'mexcited foryoutomeetthesecharactersastheylearntocurl,facechallengesinanew land,andattempttochangeandgrow.
Inmyresearchwritingthisscript,Ivisitedsomeclubstochatwithmembers andcurlafewgames.(Turnsout,Ishouldsticktoplaywriting.)Ononesuch outing,attheSeaforthCurlingClub,ImetSharif,thefatherofaSyrianrefugee familywhohadrecentlylandedinHuronCounty.Atthetime,hedidn’tspeak muchEnglish—andlet’sbehonest,IspeakzeroArabic—butasweboth struggledtostayuprightontheice,welaughed…alot.
