With over 28 years of experience, expertise and a vast knowledge base in valve innovation and technology Hydromine has established itself as one of the go-to companies for mining houses looking for dewatering solutions or general water distribution systems. Three companies make up the Hydromine group, explains Group CEO, Henry de Lange. At the heart of the business is Hydromine Products, a Johannesburg based company, and a manufacturer of exclusive hi-tech equipment for water reticulation systems and fluid control applications in the mining and other industries. The product range further includes range of safety, isolation and control valves, hydraulic, tapered pipe couplings, high-pressure piping and related equipment. “Hydromine Projects International is the supply company of the above mentioned ranges, internationally,” says de Lange. The company, which is headquartered in Mauritius, is further the patent and intellectual property holder of all the product ranges. The third company, Hydromine Projects & Marketing is a local South African company with a Level 4 BBBEE score

that represents Hydromine Products in most of the South African mining industry, as a sales agent for its products and services.
Delivering growth
Having significantly expanded its offerings to the mining sector in particular the group has seen a steady increase in demand for its products over the years. “We recently completed a major job supplying pressure reducing stations to a gold mine in Mexico,” says de Lange indicating that the company has already started work on another project, this time for a deep Zinc mine in India. “The demand for our products is growing and over the past few years we have completed projects not only locally in South Africa and Southern Africa but our valves are being used in mines all around the world from the East to the West.” Closer to home they are also currently involved in a massive project for a mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) where the mining sector continues to attract large investments. “We have been contracted to supply specialized valves for a mine’s dewatering system,” he says. “Mining is a sector that we continue to see growth in around the world. India, Australia, north America, Ghana and the DRC, in particular, are regions we have identified as growth regions.” Establishing a global and regional footprint has been a priority for de Lange and his highly skilled team. This has seen the group invest heavily in research and development ensuring they are always at the forefront of product development. “We are continuously working on expanding our offering meeting the exact needs of our clients. Our valves are built to perform and handle the demanding media of the mining industry.” He says these days it is essential that products are not only of the highest quality but are solutions based. “Our products are very unique and speak directly to the needs of our clients. We are particularly involved in solutions for surge prevention in mine dewatering systems.” According to de Lange, the group also has several agents that distribute and market Hydromine’ range of products.
