Getting to Know You
We aim to get to know our employees better through this regular feature in our newsletter. Today, we chat to Scott Wilcox, Managing Director of Certex UK.
Hi Scott – let’s start off with you giving us a bit about your background.

SW: I was born in Redditch, near Birmingham, and lived there for the first 35 years of my life. At 17, I met Claire and at 22, we got married. Three children later - Luke (21), Mark (19) and Chloe (12) was followed by our relocating to Doncaster about ten years ago.
You’ve been with Certex UK since 1999. Explain explain how you came to join the company and what roles did you perform prior to your current appointment as MD in July 2018?
SW: I started my role with Certex in the sales office and after three years I took on the role of Team Leader, overseeing the office and shopfloor activities. I progressed to Branch Manager, which included customer management, external sales and full P&L ownership for the branch. I held this role for four years before we restructured the company in 2009 and I became the Business Manager for Product Sales across England and Wales. In 2012, I was asked if I would consider relocating myself and my family to work at our Head Office in Harworth and for some crazy reason, we decided we would! I took on the Commercial and Marketing Manager role for just over four years before being promoted to Operations Director. And nearly two years following this, the role of MD become available …. and here I am today!
