Trolley Bus Museum
Roy Henderson, Central Support Manager for Certex, was approached by his former colleague, Chris Proctor, who has been a dedicated volunteer at the Sandtoft Trolley Bus Museum near Doncaster for many years. Chris is currently involved in the refurbishment of a pole crane, an essential tool for installing and maintaining electric tramway and trolleybus overheads. In the past, these cranes were horsedrawn until petrol engines became a reliable option. The current pole crane seems to have been designed for towing behind a tower wagon. Due to years of storage outside, some of the crane’s ropes have deteriorated, prompting the need for specialised hoist and brake cables. Following Chris’ request for Certex’s assistance with the assembly of these custom cables, Roy agreed to help and entrusted the task to Graham Wilson, FSET Operator from Certex in Harworth. Well done team! It’s great to hear we are helping in the preservation of our historic treasures!
