LETTER FROM LEADERSHIP Dear Friends, As I reflect upon the global challenges of the past year and the divisiveness we faced as a society, I’m humbled to be part of an organization that positively changes lives and our community!

Despite COVID-19, hybrid learning, and the external stressors that follow, LiFT has remained steadfast in our efforts to maintain a safe, inclusive, and diverse learning community focused on inspiring and empowering people with neurodiversity to learn, thrive, and succeed. Not only has LiFT maintained strong enrollment throughout the pandemic, but we have continued to grow in our size and scope of services, all while never losing sight of what matters most—our LiFT Learning Community.

Since opening our doors on January 09, 2013, LiFT’s enrollment has grown more than 700%! Not only do we provide challenging academics for our students, but we are intentional in our approach to enhance their social, interpersonal, and leadership skills every day. At LiFT, we do not use labels, diagnoses, or limitations as our starting point.

Instead, we use abilities, encouragement, empathy, and commitment to our learners to empower them to go further and achieve more than they ever thought possible.

In addition, we launched the Sandi Lynn Geller Memorial Family Resource Center (FRC) with over 75 community resources and partners, maintained a 93% Team Member

Retention Rate, and most recently were honored as a Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero. Most importantly, we maintained the most critical data point, a 95% standard high school diploma graduation rate (which is nearly 20% higher than that of the ESE graduation rate in Pinellas County, FL).

With our continued growth, LiFT is now positioned to build upon a dream that started on the back of a napkin nine years ago by our two Co-Founders, Kim Kuruzovich and Keli Mondello.

A dream to create a safe, inclusive, effective, and diverse community to meet the growing needs of children and adults with neurodiversity. A dream to not only meet today’s needs but prepare our students for tomorrow’s future.

In December 2021, LiFT purchased the YMCA of Clearwater to serve as our future and permanent home. This exciting next step will allow us to plant roots in our community, expand our services and become a visible and premier resource for those with learning differences. LiFT is not only achieving our strategic vision, but we are positioning ourselves to serve more children and adults with neurodiversity. LiFT aspires to be the premier academic and life skills program for those with learning differences. On our new campus, we will be able to offer more robust after-school opportunities, including enrichment programs, sports programs, and community functions.

The power of a collective community enables us to help people in a way we simply could not achieve on our own. At LiFT, we recognize that our BIG DREAMS have become a reality because of YOU, our generous and giving community.

OUR STORY In 2012, Kim Kuruzovich and Keli Mondello had a vision.

Inspired by their daughters, they set out to create an inclusive and accepting environment where children would be free from bullying so they would have the peace to learn and grow.

Today, LiFT boasts an enrollment of 150(+) students and three educational programs. LiFT Academy is a place where students of all academic levels in Kindergarten through 12th grade can excel; LiFT University Transition Program is a four-year post-secondary program for students who have completed high school, but desire continued academics, career readiness, and intensive life skill training; and LiFT Adult Day program offers continued learning and employment skills while promoting social enterprise.

As a recognized leader in the landscape of special and inclusive education, LiFT is committed to providing exceptional and equal opportunities in education, employment and life experiences for ALL!

LiFT DAY PROGRAM This program for ages 23+ develops employability skills, strengthens social skills, and identifies individual gifts to explore ways to gain independence. Crew members gain confidence as they work together daily to grow our microbusinesses.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER On December 1, 2020, LiFT set out to raise funds to develop a Family Resource Center through our Dream Big campaign on Giving Tuesday. Our goal was to continue to serve not only our LiFT community, but to also connect local and global families who could benefit from the experience and resources LiFT has acquired during our 9 years as leaders in advocacy and services for people with neurodiversity. These resources and services include: parent mentoring, support groups, expert speakers, local events serving the neurodiverse population, family counseling resources, sensory-friendly service providers and more!

We are so proud to announce that our BIG Dream is now a reality. Because of the support from you and so many others, we have successfully launched our Sandi Lynn Geller Memorial Family Resource Center. Since launching in 2021:

ABOUT SANDI None of this would be possible without Sandi Lynn Geller, who as LiFT’s valued team member, managed the development of this program with a dream to impact the world through this Family Resource Center.

During its development, unbeknownst to many, she was fighting a courageous battle with a rare and incurable form of cancer. Her smile and infectious optimism led her to continue to give, delivering empathy and compassion to those in need despite what she was facing. She oversaw this project from November 2020 until she entered the arms of our Heavenly Father on May 2nd, 2021. In honor of Sandi and her family, LiFT is committed to bringing her passion and spirit forward with the Sandi Lynn Geller Memorial Family Resource Center (FRC).

MEET SHELBY I had attended a few different schools before coming to LiFT and really struggled a lot. Each school had challenges and issues for me. I hated going to school because it was so hard for me.

The teachers did not understand me and did not want to help me. I would get so frustrated because I could not understand the schoolwork and felt all alone. I also really did not have any friends either. The other kids thought I was stupid and dumb because I struggled in school. They often made fun of me and that just made me feel worse about going to school every day.

Thankfully, my parents found LiFT and everything changed for me. I came to LiFT in 5th grade and was nervous at first. I quickly realized that the teachers at LiFT are very different. They actually care about me and want to make sure I understand the material we are learning. They never make me feel dumb and encourage me all the time. I can always go to them for anything, and they will help me. I also love that I have lots of friends now. My friends truly like me for just being me. Everyone at LiFT understands that we are all different and we don’t judge each other for those differences.

Now I look forward to going to school every day and can’t wait to see my friends and teachers. I even stay afterschool many days to be part of the Robotics Team too. I have realized that I am smart and just needed the right school to help me do my best. When I think about my future, I think that I would love to work in healthcare one day like my mom and grandma. I know that I can do that with the help of my awesome teachers at LiFT!

LiFTING OUR FUTURE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

LiFT is embarking on the LiFTING our Future Capital Campaign to acquire and renovate the former YMCA campus in Clearwater, FL. The new campus will bring LiFT’s four programs, serving individuals with neurodiversity, under one roof: • LiFT Academy (Kindergarten through 12th grade) • LiFT University Transition Program (post-High School) • LiFT Day Program (adults 23+) • Sandi Lynn Geller Family Resource Center (Community resource for families)

All of our daughter’s life we were told, she can’t, she won’t,and she will never.

But because of the love and support from the teachers at LiFT, she graduated in May with her high school diploma. Something we were told that she would never be able to do. She is currently enrolled at St. Petersburg College and is studying writing. She is truly living out all her dreams!
