CHAPTER THE SLEEPING GIANT

THE NEW FRONTIER FOR CHRISTIAN ADVISORS

For decades, the Christian financial advisor community has asked one persistent question: Where do I find more clients who align with my faith, values, and vision?

But perhaps that’s the wrong question.

What if the real question isn’t where to find them—but who’s already sitting in your pews, waiting to be seen?

What if the opportunity that changes everything isn’t out there in the market—but right there in the local church?

THE CHURCH: UNDERVALUED AND UNDERENGAGED

Let’s be honest. Most financial advisors—even faithful, well-intentioned Christian ones—don’t naturally see the local church as a primary field of influence. You’ve probably been told not to “mix business with ministry,” to keep a wall between your practice and your faith.

But here's the truth: the church is not just a Sunday gathering; it is the single greatest distribution platform for discipleship on Earth. It’s the spiritual infrastructure God designed for life transformation.

Inside every church—especially the ones you already attend—there are dozens of families quietly carrying the weight of financial stress, the confusion of success, or the burden of wealth without a discipleship framework.

They’re searching. They’re praying. But they’re not finding answers in sermons or financial seminars.

And most senior pastors? They know something’s missing too. They feel the weight of an under-discipled congregation when it comes to money. But they don’t know where to turn—and they’ve been burned before.

You could be the bridge.

A SLEEPING GIANT

There’s a sleeping giant inside the American church: families of wealth and influence who are spiritually under-challenged, pastors who feel disqualified to teach on money, and Christian advisors who want to serve but don’t know how to start.

When awakened, that triad can transform a church.

Imagine a single church in your city launching a Financial Wisdom Ministry that helps 80% of its people go from financial struggle to biblical stewardship. Imagine high-capacity families catching a vision for Kingdom generosity. Imagine a pastor finding freedom in his own finances and preaching with fresh authority.

Imagine that church then referring you—not as a vendor, but as a trusted guide. Not because you asked, but because you served.

This isn’t theory. It’s happening. Right now.

Through this movement, pastors are finding a new kind of ally. Advisors are becoming catalysts for legacy, not just accumulation. Families

are being discipled financially in ways that release their influence for generations.

This changes everything.

WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED

Let’s name what you’re actually looking for—not just more AUM, but more alignment.

You want:

• Clients whose values match your convictions.

• Relationships that go deeper than transactions.

• Referrals that come from trust, not tactics.

• A practice that feels like purpose, not pressure.

All of that is possible when you serve through the church.

Not by marketing. Not by manipulation. But by ministry.

You’ve likely built your career on financial wisdom. What this moment calls for is biblical wisdom. And the best place to activate that kind of wisdom? Right alongside the one leader most families already trust: their pastor.

But you must approach differently.

NOT A PLATFORM TO SELL — A POSTURE TO SERVE

To work in and through the church, you must first understand: this is sacred ground.

Advisors who walk in trying to pitch, push, or prospect will be shut out— and rightly so. But advisors who serve, listen, and build real relationships with pastors will find a different kind of door opening.

You don’t need a stage. You need a seat at the table.

You don’t need to be loud. You need to be faithful.

When you show up with humility and with tools that truly help the church, pastors start to lean in. Not immediately. But over time. They’ll begin to ask for help—first for themselves, then for their staff, and eventually for their congregation.

CHRISTIAN

You earn the right to be invited in—not by selling, but by serving.

FROM TRANSACTION TO TRANSFORMATION

One advisor in the Midwest spent months simply praying with his pastor over lunch. No asks. No angle. Just presence. Eventually, the pastor admitted he hadn’t taught on stewardship in three years. He didn’t feel equipped, and his own finances were disorganized.

That advisor helped the pastor and his spouse create a basic financial plan—confidentially, biblically, and with no strings attached.

The result?

• The pastor preached a five-week sermon series using Ron Blue’s God Owns It All.

• Five small groups started with couples in the church, led by lay volunteers.

• Three high-capacity families joined together to start a Family Legacy Ministry.

All from one relationship. One church. One advisor who said yes. That’s the power of this new model.

WHAT’S COMING IN THIS BOOK

This is not a marketing manual. It’s a ministry playbook. You’re going to learn how to:

• Serve senior pastors without overwhelming them.

• Start with one family or campaign and grow from there.

• Disciple families across the Five Financial Stages—from struggling to surplus.

• Launch Family Legacy Ministries inside churches without needing a stage.Use pre-built 40-day campaigns to engage whole congregations.

And yes, if you’re faithful, fruit will follow. Many advisors who have walked this path report not only more purpose—but more ideal clients, more meaningful conversations, and more enduring partnerships.

But it starts with a different mindset.

THE INVITATION

This chapter is the beginning of a journey—from advisor to ambassador. From planner to partner in the Gospel. From success to significance.

We believe God is calling Christian financial advisors into a new era of kingdom impact. Not to pitch from the pews. But to disciple from the back row.

To awaken the church. One pastor, one family, one conversation at a time.

NEXT STEPS

1. Begin each workday with a prayer of surrender: “Lord, this practice belongs to You. Show me where You’re already working, and help me serve with humility.”

2. Reach out to one pastor you know (or have attended their church) and simply offer to pray for them. No pitch. No plan. Just presence. Ask, “How can I support you as a friend in this season?”

3. Block out 30 minutes this week to review your current client list.

Highlight any families who are deeply connected to a church or may have spiritual influence. Ask God to show you how you might gently serve their pastor or congregation.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. What assumptions about the church might be limiting my vision for partnership?

2. Which pastors in my life could I serve relationally, not just professionally?

3. Have I prayed for the financial health and discipleship of my church?

4. How would my work change if I saw it as a Kingdom outpost, not just a business?

5. What would it mean to treat this calling as holy ground?

JOURNAL

Take a moment to ask God: Who are You calling me to serve more intentionally this week?

Write down one name and a simple next step you can take to reflect Christ in that relationship
