eing in my mid-twenties has brought me to my fair share of weddings. I have found that my favorite part of each celebration has been seeing the unique personalities of the couple ingrained within every aspect of their day. A great wedding is a portrait, carefully designed and curated by the couple to represent who they are and how they love. Each individual feature is an opportunity to emote their story, from the apparel and the food to the music and festivities. Even traditional weddings can be customized to be made distinctly personal.
It has been an absolute joy traveling around Eden Prairie to find the best of the best for the upcoming wedding season. This issue has been in the making since December, and I couldn't be more excited to finally bring it to your coffee tables. We have collaborated with dress boutiques, venues, photographers, drink specialists, stylists and artists to create a one-of-a-kind Eden Prairie wedding guidebook. All local, unique, and without a doubt extraordinary. We hope to spark inspiration through these pages, for those of you planning, for those of you dreaming, and for those of you simply searching for nostalgia.

Easter Joy a poem written by Mark Halla
The picture of Jesus on the cross brings tears to my eyes, I remember the man, whom for us did die, He had created the world with a sweep of His hand, then humbled himself and came to Earth as a man. Created in His image, yet fallen so far, we had turned away from God and we drifted afar. For us he did come, God on Earth, a savior no doubt, a chance for new birth. The gift is free, for all who believe, eternal life for you and for me! Our cross He did bear, my sin and yours, temporarily separated from God the Father, totally abhorred. The same hands that had once sculpted me as clay now bore the marks of sin’s decay! Yet He defeated death, once for all, rising as prophesied three days after the fall. His ministry calls for repentance and faith, acceptance of His love offered freely through grace. His Spirit lives within all who believe, hopefully you and hopefully me! We are called to spread the Good News that “Jesus lives” and evidence with our lives that we are His! You see, the tears I have are not tears of sorrow but rather tears of joy that Christ saved me yesterday, today and tomorrow!
Compliments of…

here’s something indescribably, naturally magical about being with your person, on your day, in your own world - that’s something I learned sitting down with Lindsay Miller, of Lindsay Miller Photography. She specializes in wedding, engagement, family, and otherwise intimate photos, and everything about her ethos gives it away. When asked about her introduction to documentary wedding photography, she says: “The first wedding I shot was my uncle’s, actually -- and I’m a hopeless romantic,” In fact, the creation of her business has always been entwined with family; she started out shooting outdoor scenes, macro photography shots, and portraits in natural light with her sister, Katie. “I started out doing weddings of family members; my sister’s friends. Then people I didn’t know started asking about it.” Lindsay Miller Photography’s style is a fusion of classic with modern, and always dreamy. “Organic is a good word,” she says. “I love natural lighting.” LMP is also known for catching emotionally-charged candid, natural shots. This is, in part, because LMP uses a second shooter, Maire McMahon. Says McMahon: “With a second shooter, we don’t have to worry about missing anything. We can stay in the moment.” “When you get a photo and you see that she has a tear running down her cheek, or the couple is laughing, just being themselves… Those are my favorites,” Miller says. “They’re all about the emotion, about telling the story.” Another perk of having a second shooter? When both halves of the wedding party are getting ready in separate locations. “There are a lot of special little moments you might not be able to get with just one photographer.” Lindsay Miller Photography consistently captures the tiny moments that, when woven together, tell the most beautiful parts of the wedding day narrative that can’t be put into words: the families and friends seeing the bride for the first time, the couple making eye contact, the moment of closeness before a kiss. “Sometimes we need to be like a fly on the wall.” she says. It shows -- her
galleries are full of smiling eyes glassy with tears, couples whispering to one another, and full-body laughs. Another unmistakable hallmark of Lindsay Miller Photography? Natural scenery and woodsy backgrounds. Not only does she capture gorgeous wedding party lineups and coupling shots in supernaturally beautiful outdoor scenes, but in family and engagement portraits that always have their own, unique personality. “It’s all about getting to know the couple.” says Miller. “We learn who they are.” Lindsay Miller Photography does this both with a questionnaire to cover all logistical bases, and by meeting in person to walk through the fine points of priority shots and overall aesthetic. But in the end, Miller says, “Don’t overthink it. Just be with your person.” LMP can cover the rest. While her signature ethereal outdoor photos with the sun low in the sky are breathtaking, her indoor photos lit from above or with sparkling string lights also stun. “I’m not afraid to step outside of my comfort zone. As a photographer, you never stop learning.” Regardless of the location or time of year, Lindsay Miller Photography is certain to capture the most engaging events of your big day: the traditional shots, the artistic angles, and those unplanned and free-spirited moments that are distinctly you. Our takeaway? On your wedding day, be yourself in a place that speaks to your core. Miller: “I want to capture your natural emotions in your natural element.”

H
ave you ever participated in an Arbor Day or Earth Day event? These annual celebrations are designed to inspire us to make a positive difference for our planet Earth. Yet, every ordinary day we are given the opportunity to benefit our environment. We may ask ourselves, “What can I do to help the Earth?” or “Will planting one tree really make a difference?” Benefits that Trees Provide • Vital protection for the Earth’s topsoil from erosion • Oxygen for existence • Homes for wildlife • Building material • Fuel for warmth and energy • Office and school supplies • Shade from the heat of the sun • Beautification of our surroundings • Food for humans and wildlife “To exist as a nation, to prosper as a state, and to live as a people, we must have trees.” Theodore Roosevelt Trees definitely benefit the Earth and we can too by taking action in April. Earth Day is Saturday, April 22nd and Arbor Day will be on April 28th this year. Both of these national days have a rich history and bring awareness to environmental concerns. For example, Arbor Day was established by J. Sterling Morton, in the state of Nebraska, as a challenge for citizens to plant as many trees as possible in one day. The citizens accepted

the challenge and planted an astounding one million trees. This was done in 1892 so imagine how many more trees can be planted in 2017. If each of us plants just one tree this year, the combined total of all people planting trees across our nation would be incredible! When we plant a tree, we plant a “gift” that grows for future generations. It’s fun to get involved planting trees during a local community celebration or at an event in a nearby city or state. However, rather than traveling far, we can create unique celebrations by gathering together with our family or neighbors. Simple Ways to Celebrate • Plant a tree or another type of plant • Pick up trash in our neighborhood or local park • Start composting at home or through our sanitation provider’s service. • Buy local produce. • Reduce our use of disposable plastic and/or reuse and recycle items. • Teach a child about the value of a tree. • Read a book about the environment. • Have a picnic under a tree or in a park. • Go on a hike in the woods. Whether through education, individual action, or community participation, we can all make a difference this April and throughout the year for our planet Earth. Tips for the Fathers:
After you make sure your wedding clothes are ready to go, ask how you can help with the event.
•
It is possible you will have a few drinks before the very special toast you're expected to give the bride and groom at the reception, prepare your speech in advance. Jotting a few key points on a note card will assure your confidence when it is your time to speak. A few weeks after the celebration give the note card to the newlyweds to save with their wedding keepsakes.
•
Make sure to thank all the guests who attended and say goodbye when they leave. Usually, the bride and groom are still dancing when older family members are leaving. Help the newlyweds and say goodbyes for them, so they're not obligated to give up their last hour of fun.
•
Savor every moment while watching your child grow into the next stage of their life, don't worry, they'll still need you. April 2017 | Eden Prairie Lifestyle

A trip to Banff and Lake Louise is one to be treasured. Lake Louise, known for its emerald waters and astonishing beauty is a must-see. Then you can better prioritize and make sure you see and do everything that you really want to do on this trip, reserving some activities for a future visit. You’ll definitely want to do your own research, but some of the things that you may want to consider adding to your to-do list are a visit to the Columbia Ice Fields, the Glacier Skywalk, a helicopter tour or a gondola ride. Certainly, no trip to Banff and Lake Louise would be complete without taking several breathtakingly beautiful hikes. From the amazing mountain vistas, pristine mountain lakes and dancing alpine flowers, hiking in the area promises to reward you with memories for years to come. There are an array of hikes available – from short and relatively easy hikes, to multi-day treks where you can truly immerse yourself in nature.
