Springing into Wellness
An update from Gina Harvey, Wellness Educator
Winter is losing its hold and the days are gradually getting warmer. Ah, spring is here! This is a great time to make a fresh start and focus on healthy habits.
Tired of being cooped up indoors? Soak up the sunshine with some outdoor activities. Take a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood or spring clean your porch or patio. Sit outdoors and watch the birds preparing their nests. Refresh your flower beds by removing winter debris and adding fresh mulch.
The scent of newly budded flowers and fresh cut grass will soon fill the air. Now is a great time to schedule your yearly wellness exam with you doctor to prepare for allergy season. Seasonal allergies can wreak havoc on your sinuses, but they don’t have to ruin your outdoor time. Stay prepared and take steps to manage your symptoms.
Spring clean your indoor spaces. Declutter closets, wash windows, and deep clean rugs. Start this spring fresh and new! Getting rid of winter dust can reduce your allergies, too. Once you’ve finished, be sure to sit back and enjoy all that you’ve accomplished.
Visit the produce section of your local grocery store to stock up on seasonal fruits and veggies. Enjoy various types of bright colored fruits and veggies to ensure that you are receiving the nutrition that your body needs to stay healthy. Look up new recipes for ways to incorporate your seasonal favorites into your daily meals. Enjoy the changing of the seasons!
Are you interested in joining an exercise group this spring? LifeStream’s wellness programs are here to help! For more information about wellness classes, visit lifestreaminc.org/wellness, or contact Gina Harvey, Wellness Educator, at gharvey@lifestreaminc.org.

Volunteer 2024 Highlights
An update from Laura Bray, Volunteer Services Administrator
Volunteering is a growing field that is a fantastic place to be! A lot of committed individuals give their time to help our community and LifeStream Services. Volunteers make a lot of homebound meal deliveries in our Southern counties. Did you know that the lovely folks you encounter at senior cafés are volunteers, too? If you picked up the commodities at a Senior Safety Net location, those individuals are all volunteers. They also help us with a variety of other activities, such as committees, one-time events, wellness programs, office tasks, AngelWish, Concierge Program, crafting gifts, leaf raking, and so much more.
We couldn’t reach as many individuals if it weren’t for our volunteers’ enthusiasm for helping others.
605 individuals shared 22,680 hours of their time in 2024 to help their communities — that’s amazing commitment!
If you would like to experience volunteering and all of the positive effects it can add to your life, please contact Laura Bray, Volunteer Services Administrator, at (765) 808-8827 or lbray@lifestreaminc.org.
