MINDFUL HOME

Dunelm has unveiled its Spring/Summer collection for this year with a focus on mindfulness. Dr Dawn Harper said: “It’s important for our mental and physical health to create a sanctuary in which to relax at home. We also tend to underestimate the importance of sleep; people who are chronically sleep deprived are at increased risk of numerous health issues.”

To promote mindfulness when it comes to sleep, Dunelm has created

100% Cotton designs for its bedding collection and has introduced an

automatic diffuser that works with essential oils. The company is also

continuing its partnership with Holly Willoughby and has launched a new

luxury bedding collection featuring 100% cotton with an Easy-Care finish,

180-thread count and comprising of five unique designs. ss20 look book - CMYK BGJH.indd 34-35

3 tips to creating a mindful home 1. Keep your home decluttered 2. Make it a place where you communicate person to person, not through a screen 3. Make your home a place conducive to rest and sleep

MOVING TIP

“If you’re going to be moving within the next year, start collecting bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard boxes to store in preparation – it will put you in good stead when the time comes.”

TOG WATCH As the weather starts to get warmer you might want to swap your duvet to one with a lower tog rating to keep cooler. As a general rule of thumb, aim for a tog of between 3 and 7.5 for summer, 7.5 to 10.5 for spring and autumn and 10.5 to 15 for cold winters. The 4.5 tog (cool), 10.5 tog (medium) and 13.5 tog (warm) are the normally stocked grades. The Bed Post | www.the-bedpost.co.uk

THE BIG SPRING CLEAN MADE EASY

• Make a schedule and don’t try to tackle too much in one go; one room at a time is great and finish it before moving onto the next. • Before you tackle a room, aim to declutter it first, making piles for loft storage or the charity shop. • Wash bedding, duvets, pillows and throws and pack them away, swapping these for lighter (and brighter) bed linen and soft furnishings. • Dust from the top-to-bottom – vac away cobwebs in corners and dirty marks on walls. Top up with a new paint job if needed. lifeinmagazines.co.uk • Don’t forget to wipe down light switches, mirrors, windows and doors – these are often forgotten but are usually the first to show signs of dirt. • Clear out gutters while outdoors and consider jetwashing your drive (for help give Jon a call on 07791 622576) • Throw open the windows and let some natural air into your home.
