FY2023 IMPACT
CHILDREN
HOMEVISITS
Through the pioneering work in South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi, and now Zimbabwe and the organizational leadership of Anthony Liebenberg, Life Child was established to champion the social justice expression of Life Church in Africa. Life Child exists to reach orphan and vulnerable children and restore communities for generational change. Life Child initiatives are focused on building firm foundations for the education, health, welfare, spiritual development, and relationships of children across life phases and focus areas, creating a platform for community transformation for future generations
Today, we are seeing hundreds of children being rescued, educated, and given a new opportunity with a strong sense of hope and belief in the future, one life at a time.
To ensure that all children are educated to a level that allows them to become contributing members of the community.
To facilitate the personal and interpersonal development and physical security of all children allowing them to become well-adjusted family members in the community. And to harness the power of fun, creative and physical activities, creating opportunities to unify thewidercommunity.
To ensure that all children receive appropriate nutrition and health care.
To create an environment for all children to discover the power of a personal relationship with God, resulting in individual and generational transformation.
"Orphan's Promise has worked with Life Child for a number of years now, and we consider them a strong, effective outreach to children in need. Our mandate as an organization is to take children from at-risk to thriving, and that is exactly what Life Child does. They are consistent, thorough, and steadfast in their programs, and the staff has a commitment to excellence that makes them a joy to work with. They go deep in their efforts to truly impact the lives of vulnerable children. We are honored to partner with them in their life changing outreaches.”

“The Life Child model of service delivery is scalable, high-impact, and community-led. The Life Child model is a great example that nonprofit organizations in low and middle-income countries, especially those serving orphans and vulnerable children, can learn from.”
CAROLYNEA.OPINDEDR.H.C. FOUNDERANDCEO, THENGOWHISPERER™ UNITEDKINGDOMbeen supporting Life Child for a number of in both a personal capacity and as part of an organization. A few years ago, I was at the Life Child project in the Western Cape talking to some of the project workers. As we spoke, lunch was being laid the kids in the Life Child preschool, but also for kids in the community.
umber of unsupervised little kids from the neighborhood who came for what would be their meal for the day was a stark reminder of the need. The loving way in which the kids were spoken to and fed was a true representation of how practical love and faith in action can change a life."

“We are honored to partner with Life Child. Their vision and the way they carry it out is truly transformational.”
KENFOREMAN, LEADPASTOR CATHEDRALOFFAITHCHURCH SANJOSE,USAIn Sub-Saharan Africa, m population are still living the total number of significantly higher today (UN & World Bank). Communities are increas malnutrition: despite de children under 5 still su nearly 50 million are und suffer from hidden h deficiencies. According to WHO, the children in Eastern and S Sub-Saharan Africa had across all age groups secondary school age, age) in 2018 (UNESCO In Sub-Saharan Africa’s reached 31.2% or 97.5 m (The World Bank, 2020).
The need in Sub-Saharan Africa is massive. That is why we believe in the vision of reaching children; One Life At A Time.
Life Child is deeply convinced that before we can change a nation, community, or even a family, we have to focus on the child. We make sure that not only are their basic needs met but that they also have a strong and healthy start to life.
We address the needs through our four focus areas: Health and Nutritional Support, Educational Support, Social Development, and Spiritual Development.
We do this through pre-schools, primary schools, and children’s villages, as well as residential homes and a medical clinic. Life Child also has foster homes and a moringa farm to ensure future self-sustainability.
We had 550 children educated (FY2023) in our different programs. Our school attendance rate average was 90%.
We ensured our children had a nutritious daily meal, and we were able to serve a total of 111,249 meals.
Life Child values quality education by instilling a passion in every child to learn, and as a result, we had a pass rate of 89% in our primary schools combined The national pass rate was 53%
Life Child also teaches children critical skills development in agriculture, animal care, and public health.
Over 30% of our enrolled children received salvation and continue to receive discipleship, which is a significant step to a changed life.
Life Child aims to help highly vulnerable families heal and allow at-risk children to remain in their homes.
For sustainable change to occur in the life of the child, it is necessary to incorporate the child's family and surrounding community.
We do that by equipping families with all the tools necessary to remain together and to grow spiritually, mentally, socially, and emotionally.
Many of these vulnerable households are female-led and many have not had the opportunity to gain skills that would enable them to generate an income to provide for their families.
It is vital for sustainability to provide skills, money management, and encouraging micro-enterprises, thus ensuring economic strengthening.
Life Child registered 17,707 home visits in Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. There were no premature pregnancies registered with Life Child due to social interventions and a close walk with families, resulting in students continuing with further education.
An increasing number of families are attending Life Church cells and celebrations in our four countries.
Many communities in Sub-Saharan Africa face unimaginable hardships with poverty, high unemployment rates, malnutrition, and illnesses.
Life Child's three-pronged approach of child, family, and community addresses these challenges.
We strongly believe that it is vital to teach a child how to make good decisions in life rather than dealing with problems arising at a later stage. We are focused on a holistic approach to bringing transformation to our communities.
Life Child has a strong preventative health focus, with many community health workers working house to house. One of the areas that they have had a significant impact on is water and sanitation, focusing on training people to help combat the frequent Cholera Outbreaks in Mozambique and Malawi.
To fight poverty and high unemployment rates, Life Child and Life Sustainability continue to help families set up small businesses and provide skills training for others, which will ultimately assist and strengthen the local community's economy.
Life Child Gives Back was established as a vehicle for Life Church and Life Child to give back to the community in specific ways that can meet emergency needs and open new fields for the future.
For example, Life Church and Life Child have been instrumental in supporting the thousands of internally displaced people who fled the violence in the North of Mozambique through a wonderful partnership with Dignidad ONGD from Spain. The training of literacy teachers in the program Pueblos has been taking place, where they will teach the vulnerable in the resettlement camps to read and write in their mother tongues in the district of Montepuez in Cabo Delgado.
Josué's journey began with a bittersweet chapter in his family's life. His mother, Sónia, joined the Okalawo Children’s Village in Mozambique in 2013, seeking solace and support after the passing of her husband from a chronic disease and experiencing violence from her husband’s family. She was pregnant with Josué at the time. Sónia stepped into this new community, hoping for a fresh start. In 2014, Josué came into the world in the loving embrace of the Okalawo Village, a place that would shape their lives profoundly.
As he grew up, Josué experienced the joys of childhood within the village's nurturing community. Josué is now in grade 5, making remarkable progress in his educational pursuits. His teachers recognized his exceptional abilities, praising his dedication and intelligence. Beyond academics, Josué's experience in the Okalawo Village has fostered a deep faith and connection to his community. The support and love he receives from his mother, Sónia, and the Okalawo Village family have instilled in him a profound sense of gratitude and purpose.
Looking towards the future, Josué carries a dream within his heart. Inspired by the transformative impact of education, he aspires to become a teacher. He envisions a future where he can empower and uplift others through the power of knowledge, just as he has been encouraged.
Our project initiatives focus on building firm foundations within our four focus areas. We are currently at maximum capacity with our current infrastructures, and the construction of these new projects will enable us to continue on the journey of transformation.
