MATTHEW & CECILIA: We spoke to an international couple Matthew (New Zealand) and his wife Cecilia (Philippines) to get the low-down on moving to Montenegro. They made the move in 2021 to escape the strict Covid regulations of Matthew’s native New Zealand and currently live in Budva - a popular destination city in the South of Montenegro - where they own and operate ‘The Liquor Shop’, Budva and ‘Mantra Wellness Studio’. Like many others who decided to uproot and settle in a new location they faced some challenges while on the journey of setting up their new home. For them, the lifestyle and culture of Montenegro was very different from what they were used to back home - in contrast to the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives at home, Montenegro offers a far slower or ‘polako’ lifestyle!
