‘The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.’
Dear <FirstName>,
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, God literally came down to earth. He brought the life of heaven to all of creation: to our good, beautiful, broken world. And he invites his followers to do the same. To join him in his work, bringing his good news to everything and everyone, every day of the week.
That’s why LICC exists. To catalyse a movement of whole-life disciples of Jesus equipped to join in what he’s doing – not just at Christmas, but every day, in every part of life. In this mailing, you’ll hear the stories of Carys and Basil, and glimpse what this looks like in real-life homes and workplaces.
We’re so grateful for your partnership in this life-changing mission. As we look ahead to 2025, there’s still much to accomplish. This Christmas, we’re aiming to raise £50,000 to empower a new generation to bring more of heaven to earth.
By giving to LICC today you’ll be equipping more people to make a difference tomorrow –wherever they are, bringing Christ’s love, hope, and help to a world that desperately needs it.
So, if you’re able, would you please consider giving a gift to LICC this Christmas? We would be so grateful.
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Every blessing,
Paul Woolley CEO
Q: How did you come across LICC?
I came across LICC through a good friend of mine, who was working there at the time. My understanding of LICC’s mission was deepened when we used their resources in our community group sessions and when I took part in the Be Wise course.
Q: What difference has it made?
LICC has given me a fresh understanding of what ‘mission’ looks like and helped me see my everyday work with fresh eyes. My clinics, meetings, and ward rounds are all opportunities to ‘do mission’ – to bring my church life into my workplace and to join in God’s work.
How LICC made a difference in my life
I now see that mission isn’t an optional extra, but rather something that we’re called to do in all of life, all of the time. As a result, I’m much more attuned to the opportunities God gives me to bring his values into my workplace.
With my background in psychiatry, I’m acutely aware of the interplay between physical, social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. LICC’s resources and courses have helped me be more mindful when interacting with patients and colleagues. Whether it’s in a meeting, an assessment, or downtime in the coffee room, there are opportunities to demonstrate aspects of God’s character in small ways – and to join with him in bringing his kingdom to each of these spaces.
God works through his people wherever they are. Here’s how one Christian is joining in God’s redemptive work by changing nappies, crafting with other mums, and countering competitive parenting culture.
A few months ago, Carys Nurcombe-Pike’s world was turned upside-down when she gave birth to her daughter, Zipporah. It’s been joyful, unexpected, and exhausting in equal measure.
‘Being a mum is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Zippy is a joy-bringer who surprised us by entering this world four weeks early. Her smiles, emerging personality, and mini-me moments are the best bits of my day – she truly is a gift from God.
‘Those magical moments are balanced by broken nights, feelings of isolation and helplessness, and a total shift in routine. I’d had glimpses of this through conversations at my previous job working in a baby bank, where we provided families on low incomes with food parcels, nappies, wipes, formula, and other baby essentials. But nothing can prepare you for the gritty reality of motherhood.
‘Sometimes, I get to the end of the day and feel like I’ve achieved nothing. Even if no one else sees the endless feeds and nappy changes, God does. And he rejoices in these unseen and mundane tasks – which are acts of worship, the spectacular in the ordinary.
‘Mum culture is also challenging. There are such strong and contradictory perspectives, and it can make you question your choices. But having other mums around you is also a wonderful support. I’ve loved connecting with other new mums at a weekly craft group and am starting to build friendships. It’s encouraging to authentically share the highs and lows of motherhood and openly discuss mental health.
‘The role of motherhood isn’t always valued in our society. Now I’m on maternity leave, people often assume I’m not working. But that couldn’t be further from the truth: I believe motherhood is a God-given calling –and it’s the work he’s called me to do in this season.’
Imagine a world where every Christian was equipped to join God’s redemptive work in their day-to-day. Your support helps Christians like Carys live out kingdom values wherever they are, in all of life.

Here are six ways Carys bears Christlike fruit as a mother:
Even when she’s exhausted, Carys reflects Jesus’ patience and love to her daughter.
Carys feeds, cleans, and cares for Zippy to the best of her ability.
Carys seeks to support other mums struggling with their mental health.
Carys doesn’t sugarcoat motherhood and is authentic about her experience when chatting with other parents.
Carys speaks up about how God truly values the hard work of motherhood.
Through baby groups, Carys is building new friendships. She prays that, in time, she’ll have opportunities to speak about her faith.
At this time of year, we celebrate God coming down to earth. As disciples of Jesus, we’re invited to do the same – to be active participants in the Christmas story, bringing ‘good news of great joy’ to the spaces, places, and communities where we live and work, through who we are and what we do.
This Chri stmas, we’re looking to raise £50,000 to equip a new generation to join in God’s redemptive work, right where they are. Your gift will support projects that’ll empower young disciples to bring more of heaven to earth, every day of the week. Give now
