WHAT FAMILIES LOVE ABOUT LUOA

With LUOA, you aren’t just homeschooling — you are transforming your home into a private Christian school. Here are a few more reasons to make LUOA your educational choice.

ACCREDITATION LUOA is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and Cognia, which is the parent organization for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). The Commonwealth of Virginia also recognizes LUOA as a member institution of the Virginia Council for Private Education.

AFFORDABILITY LUOA offers the best of a private, homeschool, Christian school experience at a surprisingly affordable rate. And LUOA’s convenient payment plan allows you to pay tuition in five or 10 monthly payments — interest free! Families enrolling three or more students qualify for a family discount. Visit LibertyOnlineAcademy.com/Tuition-and-Fees for current information on tuition — and don't forget about our 30-day money-back guarantee!

FLEXIBILITY LUOA’s online courses allow students to access their class materials 24 hours a day, providing both flexibility and convenience for varying schedules. Students can enroll in LUOA at any point throughout the year, so there is no need to delay a move or wait for the end of a traditional school year. Students can also use a self-paced schedule during a 10-month period in order to fit their coursework around their busy lives!

SUPPORT LUOA students always have access to their teachers via the curriculum message system or by phone during regular office hours. Each student is also assigned a personal academic advisor. Technical support is available through Liberty University.

TEACHER-LED INSTRUCTION LUOA teachers are certified and licensed professionals who guide students through personalized curriculum, providing relevant and engaging classroom material.

Lessons for online classes are interactive and designed to stimulate the student's interest, engage them in the learning process, and capture their imagination. Although coursework promotes self-instruction, parental guidance is essential. Since faith is an important educational component, LUOA teaches all classes from a biblical worldview.

Frequently asked questions: WHAT IS THE PARENT’S ROLE versus

the teacher’s?

The parent is seen as the primary — or first in line — teacher, partnering with the Academy support staff. Parents hold students accountable for completing assignments and progressing in their courses. As the primary teacher, you are your child's "first responder" with help for academic questions. Next in line is your Academy teacher, who uses the built-in messaging system for student/teacher correspondence. Liberty University Online Academy teachers are available to students and parents for real-time/live-voice additional assistance via telephone when needed.

WHAT IS A typical

school DAY LIKE?

You arrange the school day as you see fit. You may have your student do all the work in one sitting or space it out over the day. Time spent on the computer will vary depending on your school calendar, the number of subjects that have been assigned, and the student's understanding of the course material. Generally, a student taking a full course load spread over a 180-day (not counting weekends and holidays) school year will spend three to five hours a day on the computer.

HOW LONG DOES THE enrollment

process TAKE?

The enrollment process can take a few days or up to a few weeks. The timeframe will depend on which program you choose, how accessible your child’s records are, and how available your student is for possible assessment testing. Special approval or unique situations can arise that increase the length of the enrollment process.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF my student misses DO WE NEED TO NOTIFY THE ACADEMY?

a scheduled day of work?

One of the benefits of schooling online is the flexibility of the schedule. With the Academy, you have the flexibility to change your schedule when it becomes necessary. You do not need to notify the Academy of a school day that has been missed.

How does the student COMMUNICATE WITH AN ACADEMY TEACHER? The student can communicate with their Academy teachers in two ways. The first is through the messaging system in the curriculum, and the second is through comment boxes built into the curriculum. Please note that if you are contacting a teacher about grading, teachers have 48 hours to grade an assignment. If you are contacting a teacher about a lesson question, teachers have 24 hours to respond. Students may also contact a subject specialist by phone at (866) 418-8741, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. EST.

LUOA SOCIAL CONNECTION

Opportunities

LUOA students have the unique opportunity to build community at events like our graduation ceremony, annual Christmas party, and LUOA family weekend. Students have attended the Bedford D-Day Memorial Homeschool Day, tailgated at both Liberty and Auburn University, and laid wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery, to name just a few things. We are also implementing clubs for students in the near future. Though LUOA is an online community, there is no shortage of opportunities for social connections.
