As we reflect on this past year, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible generosity and commitment of our community. Since 1984, Liberty Hospital Foundation has raised funds to support vital Hospital programs, services, and needs. This year, your support continued to make a profound difference in the lives of patients, families, and employees across our community.
Celebrating Impact
THE TREEHOUSE: Thanks to more than 2,000 donors, our hospitality house has provided a “home away from home” for patients and families since 2005. To date, it has welcomed over 51,000 guests, ensuring that no one faces medical challenges alone.
PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: The Medication Assistance program provided 160 applications with a patient average monthly RX savings of $11,843 in FY 2025. The Patient Assistance Program was able to assist 1,171 patients with transportation service. Our mission is to continue reducing transportation-

HUGHES FAMILY ASSISTANCE FUND:
In times of crisis, Liberty Hospital employees found relief through this fund, which honors Charlie Hughes’ legacy of compassion.
PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION FUND:
Scholarships and awards supported 12 current employees and future nurses, strengthening the quality of care for years to come.
KYLEIGH’S GIFT:
Through memorial support and events like the Kyleigh’s Gift Walk & Luminary, families in the Birthing Center received comfort, educational resources, and safe sleep sacks distributed to over 1,500 families during life’s most tender moments.

Stories From Our Community.
Three years ago, my husband and I attended Twilight at the Treehouse for the first time. What began as a beautiful evening under the stars quickly became a turning point in how we understood the Foundation’s role in our community.
We connected with others who shared a passion for service and learned just how deeply the Foundation’s programs touch lives.
Today, as a Foundation Board Member and Nurse Leader at Liberty Hospital, I’ve had the privilege of seeing that impact up close. Funds raised through the Twilight event have helped patients in rural areas get to their appointments, provided hearing devices for clinics and inpatient units to reduce readmissions, and even supported hospital employees in need with Hy-Vee gift cards after extended medical leave. These are more than gestures—they’re lifelines.
Twilight at the Treehouse has become one of our favorite events of the year, and we continue to support it wholeheartedly. It’s more than a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of compassion, community, and the power of coming together to uplift those who need it most.

Our patients can’t get better if they can’t afford to take their medications. This program no only allowed my patient to afford her medication, but by doing so, allowed her to discharge home with her family, and recuperate in a more comfortable setting. The Patient Assistance Program is instrumental in relieving the burden of financial stress on patients at a time in their lives when money is the last thing they should have to worry about.

Forty Years of Foundation Fun!
Kyleigh’s Gift Family Fun Fest, Remembrance Walk & Candle Light Vigil
The infant loss awareness walk started in 2012 as a place for our Birthing Center families to go back to and honor their loved ones. In its 12 years, this program has raised nearly $240,000 to provide each baby born at Liberty Hospital with a safe sleep sack.
Kyleigh’s Gift run and candlelight ceremony recognizes the National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day and is open to all. October was proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. President Reagan was a bereaved father, losing a daughter just one day old in 1947, he knew how important it was to recognize and honor newborns that have passed away.
RUN Liberty
Our beloved Liberty run has grown since 2017 as a fun run 5K into a community staple event that brings in thousands of runners from over 26 states each March.
From the beginning, the purpose of this race was to ensure every dollar raised from registrations directly impacts programs like our Assistance Programs (Hughes Family, Patient Assistance, and Health On Wheels). In 2026, the race will be celebrating its 10th anniversary and has welcomed over 15,696 runners since its inception.

Golf Classic
In 1988, the Foundation kicked off its first Golf Classic. Since then, thousands of golfers have shown up fore change.
Benefitting Patient Assistance, this golf classic benefits under and uninsured patients in the Liberty Hospital community.

TWILIGHT AT THE TREEHOUSE
The Northland’s greatest fundraiser under the stars, Twilight at the TreeHouse, has helped support the operating costs of the TreeHouse for 16 years. Guests join for auction items, raffles, games, dancing, and a fourcourse dinner with a cocktail camper. This year, Twilight hit record net revenues with $74,665 raised to help the TreeHouse for another fiscal year. This is a 117% increase from 2024 and a 229% increase from 2023.

The TreeHouse has served over 50,000 individuals coming to Liberty Hospital for specialized medical care since it was started in 2002.
In Liberty, the average cost for an average rated hotel room is $127, patients or family members are able to stay at the TreeHouse for free, helping them save the cost of the hotel plus more, with its added convenience of being just a few steps away from the hospital.
With the new renovations to The TreeHouse, it now has 10 private rooms, community kitchens and a community conference room that also serves groups in the surrounding areas.

Charlie Hughes served as Director of Social Services for 31 years and has made a lasting impact on the community while serving as Board President for both the Liberty Meals on Wheels and the Society for Social Work Leaders in Health care.
MO-KAN chapter who also named him Hospital Social Work Director of the year in 1990, and Social Work Leader of the Year in 2011. While working at the Liberty Hospital, Charlie helped develop many essential programs including: the Hospital Wheel Chair Van Service, Long Term Care Clinic, Hospital Home Health, and the TreeHouse. The Hughes Family Assistance Fund helps families that are going through a crisis such as house fires, unexpected death in family, etc. In 2012, Charlie and his wife Loretta started the fund to continue his social work legacy after he retired. Since its inception, hundreds of families have been served with over $200,000 in grants.

Did you know… that we gave away 13,473 sleep sacks that help promote safe sleeping and reduce SIDS - Sudden infant death syndrome - that is usually unexplained and often happens during sleep by sleeping on stomach or side. Out of this need, the sleep sack was funded so that every baby born at Liberty Hospital could sleep safely. Over 13,473 sleep sacks have been given as a $148,203 investment to all birthing center families since 2014.
Did you know...
27% of all Liberty Hospital Birthing Center families utilize Kyleigh’s Gift services and support as of last year.
With the help of diaper drives, we have helped provide 345 diaper bags, or 25,875 individual diapers to families in the birthing center, during the 2025 Fiscal Year and 480 meal vouchers to mothers. Kyleigh’s Gift also supplies Pack-N-Play’s and car seats for families unable to afford cribs or the equipment for infants. Over the course of the program’s life, over 350,000 diapers have been donated.
Educational Scholarships
We have proudly awarded a total of twelve scholarships, with a total combined gift of $24,000 for students seeking to furthering their studies.
The The Thomann Financial Services Graduate Scholarship Program awards $1,000 in education scholarships to four individuals and the High School Nursing Scholarship Program awards eight students with a $3,000 scholarship.

We gave four $1,000 scholarships to staff at LH to get their MSN and MBA, as well as eight scholarships to High School Seniors in surrounding school districts to get their BSN. !
Patient Assistance

The Foundation is proud to support 100% of these services and will continue to serve patients in the Hospital’s community in FY 2026. Each year, the Foundation budgets for roughly $40,000 in Patient Assistance. Thank you to the Care Management team for continuing to utilize donor dollars in the most equitable way, truly making every dollar matter.
The Patient Assistance Program was able to assist 1,773 patients and community members in FY 2025 (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025). This is an increase of 270 patients and community members from FY 2024. Services ranged from Student Assistance, Medication Assistance, DME, Breast Center Imaging, Cardiac Rehab and Transportation.
The Medication Assistance program provided 160 applications with a total patient monthly RX savings of $11,843 in FY 2025. A patient said “Thank you for all your assistance in getting my eyedrops approved. I can finally see again!”
The Liberty Hospital Foundation received the Annual Impact Report from Liberty Hospital’s Care Management team recapping the fiscal year with incredible results.
HEALTH ON WHEELS
Transportation touches many aspects of a person’s life; adequate and reliable transportation services are fundamental to healthy communities. Transportation issues can affect a patient’s access to healthcare services.
Having this accessible transportation touches the lives of patients as well as providing them appropriate and reliable transportation to promote a healthy community. Without transportation assistance, these issues may result in missed or delayed healthcare appointments, increase in healthcare expenditures and overall poor health outcomes. Our mission is to make a positive impact on our communities by addressing transportation issues or barriers. Our mission is to continue reducing transportation-related barriers, ensuring all patients have reliable access to care. 1049 rides were provided by Uber Health in FY 2025; this is an increase of 236 rides from FY 2024.

Congratulations are in order to Liberty Hospital's very own Abigail Edwards, MSW, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Health on Wheels car raffle winner. Abby could not be a humbler recipient. As a social worker, she is an embodiment of the Health on Wheels program, helping patients receive rides to and from appointments; we truly could not be more thrilled for this to go to such a deserving individual. After purchasing nine raffle tickets and picking key #9, it's safe to say we think she has a new favorite number!
FROM GIVING TUESDAY OF 2024 TO TWILIGHT AT THE TREEHOUSE IN JUNE OF 2025, THE FOUNDATION CELEBRATED ITS 40TH YEAR WITH A CAR RAFFLE TO RAISE VITAL FUNDS FOR HEALTH ON WHEELS. Over 906 tickets were sold with over $63,587 in donations, with a net profit over of $26,087 to support the program.
A special and heartfelt thank you to our car raffle partner at Heartland Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for supporting the community in this impactful way. With their help, along with our program donors, we raised $63,590. This will contribute to thousands of rides for Liberty Hospital patients for years to come.

WHY WE GIVE: BOB AND VICKI HAAS’ STORY
For our family, Liberty Hospital has always been more than a place of work or care - it has been a community. My husband, Bob, spent his entire career at Liberty Hospital as an orthopedic surgeon for 39 years. Not long after the Liberty Hospital Foundation was established in 1984, its founder, Evelyn DeMasters, invited doctors and their spouses to come together to learn about the Foundation’s mission and to encourage support. That meeting was when Bob and I first became involved, and it began our deep connection with the Foundation.
In 1993, I had the honor of beginning the first of two terms on the Foundation Board. During that time, one of the most meaningful projects we worked on was the planning of The TreeHouse. The vision was simple, but powerful: to provide a homeaway-from-home for families whose loved ones were experiencing extended stays at Liberty Hospital. Families came from as far as the Iowa line, and the TreeHouse not only reduced costs but also gave comfort during difficult times.
Over the years, The TreeHouse evolved into a place that also served women undergoing cancer treatments. After more than 20 years of service, it became clear that a
major renovation was needed. The updated TreeHouse is now fully handicap-accessible in every guest room and offers beautiful, expanded spaces, including a wig room and knitting areas for the community. The transformation and need has been greater than we ever could have imagined back when it was first conceived.
Another area of deep personal meaning for me is the Foundation’s support of the DAISY Award, which recognizes nurses for the extraordinary work they do each day. My father was a patient at Liberty Hospital on and off for over ten years, and during that time I witnessed firsthand the difference the nursing staff made. He was not always the easiest patient, yet time and again, the nurses cared for him with patience, compassion, and humor - often turning his cranky mood into a smile. Because of that, I always encourage friends and family to nominate nurses for the DAISY Award whenever they see those small acts of kindness that mean so much.
For Bob and me, supporting the Liberty Hospital Foundation has always been about giving back to a place that has given us, and so many others, so much. From important projects like the TreeHouse to programs that celebrate caregivers, we believe in the mission of the Foundation and are proud to be part of its story.
