MONTHLY AUGUST 2024

A Note to Our Members from CEO Dorsey Morrow

As I enter my fourth year with Liberty HealthShare, I am reflecting on all that we have been through. Despite our shortcomings and struggles, God has been good to this ministry and blessed us greatly. We have listened to our members, learned from our past, and focused on delivering the very best in value to our members.

Together, we have resolved a major portion of the backlog and are on track to eliminate it by the end of 2025. We said we would correct the backlog, and we said from the beginning that it would take time. We have been diligent in managing the Member SharePower in order to reduce the backlog of eligible medical bills, whether you are a current or former member, and it is important to us to honor our word. You may ask “Why?” We could have just walked away from the backlog and started over fresh. The answer is simple: it’s important to us as we lead this ministry because this reflects on us as Christians, it reflects on this ministry, and, more importantly, it reflects on our savior, Jesus Christ, and how He wants us to conduct ourselves. How we carry ourselves and what we do speaks louder than anything we could possibly say. Everyone makes mistakes, but we will learn from them and make the necessary corrections.

We have added the Liberty Dental program, which has proven to be far more successful than we could have hoped. We are thrilled with the positive reception it has received! We completed a recent survey of the membership and heard that 70% of you are happy with your recent interactions with Liberty HealthShare, 20% haven’t had to engage, and 10% have suggestions to help us improve to meet their expectations. I can assure you that we are listening and making changes that improve your experience. We completed a recent “Town Hall” internal meeting and I reminded everyone that former head football coach for the University of Alabama, Nick Saban, produced 6 national championships over his 17-year term there. It was not by accident. He had “the process.” It wasn’t flashy game plays and it wasn’t some secret weapon – it boiled down to focusing on the fundamentals. Incremental changes that chipped

away at the things that impeded the team from improving. A hyper-fixation on improving from one day to the next and eliminating the little mistakes. That is what I want from our team at Liberty HealthShare. We can, and will, improve every day. We’ve changed a lot over the last 3 years, and I want us to continue that progress. The status quo is never acceptable. How can we improve tomorrow?

As we enjoy the remaining vestiges of summer and look forward to the cool and crisp weather that fall promises, I want to encourage you to consider asking your friends and family to join Liberty HealthShare. We are focused on ensuring the long-term sustainability of this ministry and the economies of scale we can create with more members. You will notice that we are pulling out all the stops as we make a concerted effort to increase membership through the remainder of this year, but we have learned that it is word of mouth from happy members that is most persuasive. I am sure you have noticed our Refer A Friend program, which pays $150 for each referral who becomes a member for at least 2 months. Now, for those with more than a few friends that might be interested, we have the “Share the Power” Ambassador Program, which allows you to earn a commission EVERY MONTH that your referral remains a member and you remain in the ambassador program! This is a really great program that has produced a lot of interest among members and non-members alike.

Finally, I want to ask that if you have concerns or suggestions on how we can improve as a ministry, please reach out to us at info@libertyhealthshare.org. We love feedback and ideas on how we can improve and increase the value of your membership! YOU are why this ministry exists! Thanks for being an engaged part of this ministry and helping to show the world how Christians love each other!

In His Love and Service,

in the Parade Liberty HealthShare

Liberty HealthShare was honored to participate in one of Stark County’s most popular and beloved traditions in early August, the Professional Football Hall of Fame’s Canton Repository Grand Parade. More than 200,000 spectators lined the 2.2-mile route for the 110-unit parade featuring marching bands, antique cars, and a variety of National Football League Hall of Famers who annually return to Canton for the induction ceremony.

The Liberty HealthShare volunteer group of 26 employees, including CEO Dorsey Morrow, walked the course with a 40-foot Shrek balloon to the delight of children along the parade route.

“Our participation in the parade was a statement to all of Northeast Ohio that we are a force for good in the region,” said Morrow. “It was an opportunity to gain name recognition and to strengthen our market position in our own backyard. I was happy to represent our ministry with my colleagues who volunteered their time and energy.”

While a fierce thunderstorm ended the parade early, the Liberty HealthShare group ended the day in good spirits, uplifted by the outpouring of support received along the way.

“Everyone was soaking wet, but in a good mood,” said Morrow. “It was heartening to see our group work together, have fun, and be proud of representing our organization. All around it was an exceptionally good day for Liberty HealthShare.”

When do you take your car to the mechanic? Once it’s already smoking on the side of the highway? Of course not – you do routine maintenance to keep everything running smoothly. While your body is far more valuable than a car, you can think of preventative care in the same way! What is preventative care, and how does Liberty HealthShare support you in this area? Read on to find out!

One thing that probably jumps to mind when thinking of preventative care are various checkups and screenings that you can undergo. A variety of future medical conditions, including serious diagnoses such as cancer, can be found with regularly scheduled medical screenings. Your physician, through using your family and medical history , can help you know which screenings would be necessary for you to consider. You can’t solve a problem until you know what it is, and medical screenings highlight the problems you need to solve!

Another important aspect of preventative care is to catch changes in your body or health that may not be apparent otherwise. While the screenings and checkups you receive can identify a smattering of problems, your relationship with your physician can identify possible areas of concern, even without a test! New persistent pains, large amounts of weight loss without striving to do so, or the presence of a new lump or mole are all changes in your health that can be identified and addressed by utilizing preventative medical care, even if you may not be “sick.”

Furthermore, you always want to be sure that you’re taking steps to mitigate your future health risks. Not only does doing so mean you have a higher quality of life, but you’ll also save on medical expenses! Preventative care can extend beyond what you can receive in a physician’s office. As a Liberty HealthShare member, you already don’t use tobacco products, which is a simple way to enact preventative care. If you have a regular routine of exercise, and if you follow a healthy diet, you’re already doing a lot to care for your future health!

Liberty HealthShare believes that the health of the whole person - physical, emotional, and spiritual - is important. We all want you to be happy and healthy. As always, seek the advice of your primary care physician when considering what preventive care, especially regarding the screenings you may require, is best for you to receive. Consult the Liberty HealthShare Sharing Guidelines to identify how your program can help support you in receiving preventative care. Proverbs 21:5 highlights the benefits of good planning, so plan your preventative care today!

A family connection brought Mariah Loveday to Liberty HealthShare, but it has been her love for a Christian environment that has caused her to stay. Loveday’s mother, DeeAnn, encouraged her daughter’s interest in the ministry, leading her to start in a position in the mail room in 2017. Since that time, Mariah has been promoted to positions of increasing responsibility in data entry, and to her current position as Team Lead in Medical Bill Processing.

“Prior to coming to Liberty HealthShare, I worked for the Hartville Kitchen, and that Christian environment really suited me,” said Loveday. “It has been the same way here at our ministry. I really like what we stand for and how we help people. It has been a wonderful experience.”

A Uniontown, Ohio native, Loveday was active in athletics and musicals during her high school days. Those experiences shaped who she is today.

“I played basketball and performed in musicals and that really helped me to get over being shy,” said Loveday. “It taught me how to work as part of a team and how to develop relationships with people. Those same skills help me in my role here with our team. We are very close and I enjoy being able to answer questions and help my teammates as we do our work on behalf of the ministry.”

In her 7-plus years of employment, Loveday has witnessed a significant amount of change. “Change is part of life, we all have to deal with it, and it has been good for me,” she said. “What has not changed is the family atmosphere found here among employees. We genuinely care about one another and work together to provide the best experience we possibly can. It is a source of great pride for me.”

The leadership provided by Liberty HealthShare Chief Executive Officer Dorsey Morrow resonates with Loveday.

“He’s the type of Christian leader we need and deserve,” said Loveday. “He is personable and approachable, and he truly knows everyone. He knows more than names; he knows who you are as a person and what is going on in your life. He is authentic. It is very encouraging to work for someone like that.”

More change is on the horizon for Loveday. She recently became engaged to her fiancé, Norman, an IT Director for school systems. They enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and other outdoor activities.

“Family is very important to me” said Loveday. “I hope to start a family and provide the kind of home that I grew up in. I had an extraordinary childhood and want to carry that atmosphere of care and love forward. It is an exciting time for me.”

Living in the Light of Eternity

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.

2 Peter 1:3

Are you living in the light of eternity? Do you think about how your everyday choices, such as how you treat your family, spend your time, or steward your resources, have eternal implications? Most people, including Christians, often prioritize the present over eternal significance. So, what does it mean to live in light of eternity? Living this way as Christians means we live for God's glory, knowing that He will share it with us in Heaven. This is not a burden, but a joyous privilege. How we behave, what we say, and how we treat our neighbors all carry spiritual significance. Thankfully, we aren't expected to live the Christian life in our own power. As we seek Christ and grow in relationship with God, He will give us everything we need to live a godly life. His grace is transformative, strong where we are weak, and a promise we can hold onto (2 Peter 1: 3).

With boldness, you can face the future with gratitude, generosity, and graciousness. You can let your light shine before others so theymaysee your good works and give glory to the Father in Heaven (Matthew 5:16).

Take this moment to make a conscious decision to live, really live, in the light of Eternity. God bless you today as you make this commitment.
