Camerawork: Head room, Lead room and Framing Head Room: What is headroom? - head room is the space between the top of the subject's head and the top frame of the composition. -The general rule of thumb for headroom is that your subject's eyes should be placed in the top 3rd of the frame.

If there is too much headroom there is an large, awkward ammount of space above the subject's head, and if there isn't enough, part of the subject's head will constantly be cut off.

Lead Room: What is lead room? - lead room is the space where dramatic energy is directed. For close up hots, lead room is referred to as 'nose room'. The direction of which the subject is facing and looking towards will determine where the energy is being directed.
