Staffing Solutions Inc. Job Talkin’ FROM THE PRESIDENTS DESK

Temping is proving to be more than just a way to do “in-between jobs”. The job market, and how work gets done, is going through a monumental transformation. Organizations are moving more and more towards a flexible staffing model, with temps and contractors being a “permanent” part of the staffing “scene”. Read why temping can be a great way to work! ~Bonny Filandrinos

Why Temporary Work Is Worth It Temporary work is the “bee’s knees” these days. Recently, CareerBuilder released a survey that showed more than a third of American companies are operating with smaller staffs than before the recession.

To keep business trucking along, 36 percent of companies will hire contract or temporary workers, according to the survey of hiring managers and human resources professionals. “Temporary jobs are playing an increasingly important role in the economy; following are examples of positions currently in demand: Administrative Assistant, Customer Service Representative and Business Analyst.

From the employer’s perspective, hiring temporary workers makes perfect sense in many circumstances. They can staff up for short-range projects without the price tag of healthcare and other benefits. Is this a good thing? It can be temporary work is a chance for a career switcher to try on different hats, work in various types of businesses, add new skills and experience.

A temporary, “dip in the pool” assignment lets you get a feel if this is something you really want to do.

But even if you aren’t thinking of career changing, here are other reasons why a temporary assignment may be worth it.

Gets you out of bed in the morning. You’ve got something to do

Gets you in the door. It may lead to full-time work with an employer. Don’t miss the opportunity.

Gets you decent pay. You can make your experience a plus.

Builds your professional network, and relationships with co -workers. You never know where a contract may lead you, and who they might be able to refer you to for future jobs.

Lands you new references for future employers.

Keeps your resume alive. It’s a way to avoid the disgrace of those gaping holes in your resume.

Even if it’s just a temp job, you still win. When you’re making money, the truth is you feel better about yourself, feel valued. It builds confidence. That’s far healthier than shooting out resumes and not getting a single response!!

We look forward to assisting you with temporary opportunities.
