Project Summary:

Sugar Hill East Harlem Branch Library was design to serve the local community with implementing sustainable materials. This project is fully constructed using cross laminated timber as a material with the exception of some other materials. The goal of the project design was to give a space to local community members to read, research, and provide opportunities to host events to the public. It is very important to know how people can still access the space even after working hours. This is why the form of the building was carefully created to create public and private spaces. The first floor plan host a multi-functional room, and auditorium that community members can have access to and rent for public use. In this same spaces there is a outdoor “front yard” that community members have the access to host public outdoor events.

GOWANUS CANAL CREEK IN NEW YORK STATE

Gowanus Canal, Brooklyn NY

Mix Use Office Space

Semester I, 3rd year Intro to Urban

Partner: India Young

Work Credit:

Physical Models; Graphics (India Young)

Author: CAD Drawing’s; Rhino Model

Project Summary:

The history of the Gowanus Canal has had a long standing in the history of Brooklyn, NY. For it remains known for its unclean state and exuding smells. Creating a CoWorking office building around a landmark not known for attraction was the lead concept in our design. In addition, we focused on circulation, the sites correlation to water level, and the programming of Longevity. The name, longevity was discovered abstractly for we were able to see a pair of lungs outlined from building footprint

STUDY MASSING MODELS

EXPERIMENTAL MODELS

The Experimental Models on this page were inspired by the Herzog Laban Dance Center. The Laban Dance Center heavily impacted the inspiration for the facade design of my building. Using the models that I created determine the colors that I wanted to use for my facade, as well as an understanding of the structure of how the facade works in my building. In the images below you can see the sequence of how I determine the building could work with implementing the Laban Dance Center Facade into my own building design. The main reason I decided to use this facade was because I wanted to create a playful environment into the spaces that I was designing. Being a mix use office building I wanted the people that would walk in this building feel an environment of playfulness to feel at ease when working
