Table Games

Each week there are opportunities to play Bridge, Canasta, Mexican Train Dominoes, Hand and Foot Canasta, Scrabble, American Mah Jongg and Pinochle. Interested in playing something that is not listed? Notify the 55 Plus Office..

INFORMATION & RESOURCES FOR THE OLDER ADULT

LGS Recreation has provided this resource page to help connect older adults to services and information.

AARP FOUNDATION TAX AIDE – Free in-person tax return preparation from trained volunteers. Appointments are available on Mondays from February through April. Pre-registration is required call the 55 Plus Office at 408.354.1514

AARP DRIVER SAFETY COURSE – In-person two-day full course and one day refresher course. Fees apply. Pre-registration is required. Call the 55 Plus Office at 408.354.1514.

HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELING & ADVOCACY PROGRAM (HICAP/SOURCEWISE) – Provides free and objective information or counseling about Medicare. A representative is available the second Tuesday of each month for in-person appointments. Preregistration is required. Call the 55 Plus Office at 408.354.1514.

LIVE OAK NUTRITION – Provides hot lunches in a social setting to adults over 60. Los Gatos United Methodist Church 111 Church St, Los Gatos. Call 408.354.0707.

SJSU WELLNESS CHECKS – San Jose State Community Nursing students will be volunteering and available for blood pressure checks and health related discussions.

Great Getaways

Adult Day Trips

For your convenience pick up and drop off will be available at both the Adult Recreation Center in Los Gatos and the Joan Pisani Center in Saratoga. There will be a bathroom on the bus! Gratuity for the bus driver is not included. Trips are non-refundable.

55 Plus members save $10 off on all Great Getaway trips!

Oakland Zoo

Oakland Zoo is home to over 850 native and exotic animals. Enjoy a beautiful spring day walking in the zoo. Take the gondola ride to soak in the city views. A picnic lunch will be provided. Your ticket includes transportation, zoo admission, and a picnic lunch!

*Worried about walking? Contact the 55+ Office. Electric mobility scooters are available at the zoo for $30 and private cart-driven tours are available for $35. We will be happy to help arrange accommodations; rentals are first come first serve.

Her Story at SF Symphony Davies Hall & Dim Sum

Attend an Open Rehearsal for Her Story. Get an interesting perspective on this performance with stops and edits from the conductor before the show goes live. This is the West Coast Premiere of folk/rock/classical mixologist Julia Wolfe’s Her Story which pays tribute to the centuries of ongoing struggle for equal rights, representation and access to democracy for women in America. We will then go to Osmanthus restaurant to find out firsthand why Dim Sum & Dumplings are all the rage right now! This will be a pre-selected family style meal allowing you to sample a variety of Dumplings and other delicious bites! Your ticket includes transportation, symphony ticket, and a pre-ordered lunch.

Let us take you out to the ball game! We will have club level seats on the first base side in section 202 so that you can enjoy the game and the views of the bay. Your ticket includes transportation, a game ticket, and a $12 snack voucher.
