Each company under the LG Group umbrella was established and grown as its own distinct business, however the influence of the companies on each other defines who we are today.

The opening of Girl & the Goat – the instantly iconic restaurant in the West Loop’s Fulton Market area conceptualized by renowned chef, Stephanie Izard – marks a significant milestone for LG as the beginning of the company’s foray into the world of hospitality and commercial general contracting.

Starting from humble ‘roll-up your sleeves’ beginnings, the company is founded as LG Homes, establishing itself as one of the premier luxury residential builders in Chicago best known for an unwavering dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.

2008

Building on early successes that drove organic growth within the residential market, LG Homes is rebranded as LG Construction + Development, reflecting a bold new vision and commitment to growth with an expansion of services spanning both residential development and general contracting.

Offshoot Creative, formerly LG Design, emerged as a standalone design company, offering its expertise to both LG Development and third-party clients. Brian is the founder and CEO of LG Group, having developed over $2 billion in high-end residential and commercial projects over 17 years. His focus on exceptional design and cutting-edge technology has built LG into a top-tier, vertically integrated platform spanning development, construction, asset management, leasing, and interior design.

Brian champions diversity through local hiring programs and actively supports community initiatives. He holds engineering degrees and an MBA from the University of Illinois.

With over 20 years’ experience in development and construction, Matt brings infectious energy and entrepreneurial spirit to his Managing Partner role, focusing on strategic leadership and business growth.

Matt drives LG Group’s growth strategies while fostering key relationships with clients, partners, architects, and investors. His strategic leadership spans both development and construction businesses, where he challenges and inspires the team while maintaining the company’s culture and commitment to excellence.

Since joining LG Construction in 2012, Alex has bridged leadership vision with operational execution, developing the frameworks that drive LG’s growth. As President of Operations, he translates strategic objectives into action while coordinating seamlessly across all business platforms and departments.

Alex creates organizational alignment by establishing clear communication channels that enable effective decision-making. He has built scalable operational systems that maintain LG’s collaborative culture while overseeing all functions from project planning through delivery.

His people-first leadership philosophy develops high-performing teams and cultivates the strategic relationships that fuel LG Construction’s continued expansion and market leadership.

As President of Multifamily Investments, Michael oversees LG’s acquisition strategy for multifamily assets, sourcing deals, procuring debt and equity, and executing strategic business plans including repositioning initiatives. He develops critical relationships with joint venture partners alongside the executive team.

Prior to LG, Michael served as Senior Vice President at Orion Residential, sourcing and closing over $1.5 billion in transactions across 10,000 units. Michael holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

The site's bisecting public alley and complex zoning conflicts would typically require lengthy planned development approvals, but our resourceful engagement with planning officials transformed a bureaucratic obstacle into an administrative solution. As our inaugural Qualified Opportunity Zone project, this development represented both unprecedented scale and pioneering investment strategy.

The courage to tackle the state's largest residential undertaking while navigating uncharted opportunity zone waters established new benchmarks for ambitious urban development in the Southwest.

NAVIGATING HISTORIC CONSTRAINTS

When a previous developer abandoned the Arthur Harris warehouse project due to regulatory hurdles and community push back, most would have walked away. Instead, we saw an opportunity hidden within the constraints. The L-shaped, bifurcated site in Fulton Market's Historic District presented a puzzle of preserved structures, missing alleyways, and skeptical stakeholders.

Through perseverance and methodical community engagement, what emerged was a residential development that respected the neighborhood's industrial heritage while delivering modern urban living.

Our year-long navigation process with planning and landmarks departments required both ingenuity and resolve, ultimately yielding a project that transformed perceived limitations into distinctive design advantages.

Drawing inspiration from factory floor signage, Arthur on Aberdeen’s minimal branding reflects the building’s industrial roots. Our marketing team crafted this clean, simple identity to balance the bold interior design elements, ensuring the brand enhances rather than competes with the striking architectural features.

FIRST CONNECTION

The opportunity was clear: create the first residential development with direct access to the 606 trail. We recognized this site’s potential to anchor a vibrant hospitality destination that would serve both residents and the broader trail community.

Our two-story retail design committed us to finding an operator who shared our vision for what this location could become. The risk lay in holding out for the right tenant rather than settling for conventional retail, believing the perfect concept would eventually recognize what we saw in this unique site.

Wolf & Company proved to be exactly that vision realized, bringing Executive Chef Graham Akroyd’s multi-level concept of restaurant, bar, coffee, and specialty retail spaces. The result delivers exactly what we envisioned: residents enjoy direct trail access while the neighborhood gains the dynamic hospitality destination this intersection of urban living and outdoor adventure deserved.

BANKING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION

US Bank's challenge seemed impossible: redevelop their Midtown branch without any operational downtime while incorporating a new banking facility into the final design.

Our mindful approach to this complex puzzle meant embracing what others saw as logistical nightmares. We recognized an opportunity to redefine mixed-use development standards through careful perspective and phased construction planning. The resulting 400-unit residential project maintained full banking operations throughout the multi-year process.

By coordinating with efficiency as our guiding principle, we exceeded targets while delivering one of Nashville's most soughtafter addresses—proving that the most demanding constraints often inspire the most innovative solutions.
