Korean Alumni Association Kicks Off in Seoul BY RUTH KEYSO LFA alumni in Korea established the Korean Alumni Association (KAA) during the summer of 2016 as a way to stay connected to one another and to the Academy. The group gathered at the InterContinental Seoul Coex Hotel on June 12, 2016, prior to LFA’s annual summer celebration with current parents and students. A subgroup of 17 young alumni from the classes of 2009-2015 then met again in Seoul the following month to discuss ways to organize the group, reach out to members, and to maintain the valuable connections they made during their high school years at LFA. Hong Gi Luke Baek ’13 who, along with Seong-Gun Chris Yun ’97, Yoong Hyun Shawn Shin ’12, and Won-Joon Patrick Han ’11, was instrumental in getting the group off the ground, says of the initial gathering: “The meeting was meaningful, not just for sharing good old memories but also for networking and bonding among Korean alumni.” The group plans to meet bi-annually in Korea, during the winter and summer university break periods, so that those alumni studying at colleges in the States can attend.
