There’s always a special kind of magic in the air at Salon International, and this year at London’s ExCeL on Saturday, October 11th, that magic was painted in colour, Leyton House Professional colour!
Taking to the Modern Barber stage were 3 incredible artists, Adam Więcek, Anna Ligoń, and Miłosz Izdebski, each bringing their own creative vision and artistry to life.
Together, they transformed the platform into a canvas of movement, texture, and tone, capturing the true spirit of modern hairdressing.
Their looks celebrated everything Leyton House stands for; innovation, vibrancy, and the art of personalised colour.
From soft, ethereal blends to daring, high-impact hues, the trio showcased the versatility and performance of the Leyton House Professional colour portfolio. Each model told a story through shape, shine, and saturation, proving that when expertise meets imagination, extraordinary things happen.
Backstage, the energy was electric. Brushes moved with precision, colours developed with purpose, and the final reveals drew spontaneous applause from the audience.
“It’s more than just colour,” said Anna, smiling as she stepped off stage. “It’s confidence, creativity, and connection, and that’s what Leyton House gives us.”
Attendees from across the globe gathered around, eager to see, learn and experience the artistry behind the brand. The result? A show that didn’t just inspire, it ignited a passion for colour that will ripple through salons long after the weekend ended.
For Adam, Anna, and Milosz, this wasn’t just another showcase. It was a statement, of skill, collaboration, and a shared love for what they do.
Their performance was a true reflection of the Leyton House Professional DNA, beautiful colour, technical excellence, and the courage to create without limits.
Salon International 2025 proved once again that the future of hairdressing is bright, and undeniably colourful, with Leyton House leading the way.
INSPIRING THE NEXT GEN
ATHENS TECHNICAL COLLEGE
It’s not every day you get the chance to shape the next generation of cosmetologists — but for Su Bee Courtney, Neil Morris, and Kori Phylow, their passion for education and love for Leyton House Professional took them all the way to Athens Technical College, Georgia, where they set out to inspire the future of our industry.
This October, Su Bee and Kori proudly represented Leyton House Professional at Athens Technical College on behalf of Riley Salon Resources and Neil, delivering an unforgettable day of education, artistry, and inspiration to a full lecture theatre of up-and-coming stylists.
Su Bee Courtney, Brand Manager and Lead Educator, opened the session by showcasing the Leyton House Couture Silk Collection, perfectly timed with the launch of the new Cherry Blossom shade. Her live model transformation captivated the room, proving the brilliance of Leyton House colour and the creative mastery of our global education team.
Next up, Kori Phlylow took the stage with her dynamic HEADSTRONG session, focusing on planning, social media, and business strategies that empower stylists and salon owners alike. Her insights offered students a true glimpse into modern salon life and the mindset it takes to succeed in today’s industry.

DISTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT STRENGTHENING OUR ROOTS
UK DISTRIBUTOR NETWORK EXPANDS
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year filled with growth, creativity, and community.
From the new Cherry Blossom colour launch to inspiring education sessions, it’s been a year of milestones and we’re delighted to end it on the highest note yet.
In our mission to bring Leyton House Professional closer to salons and stylists across the UK, we’ve expanded our distributor family. We are proud to welcome Wilkins & Stroud, who are championing Leyton House brand in the North East of UK.
Wilkins & Stroud has a strong reputation in the UK hair wholesale market, what do you feel sets you apart from other distributors in the NE?
Wilkins & Stroud is well-established in the UK hair wholesale market, and I believe what differentiates us from other distributors in the Northeast is our family-run approach and commitment to delivering outstanding customer service. Our team is composed of industry-experienced professionals who are knowledgeable and dedicated.
Additionally, we offer competitive pricing and special VAT-FREE days that our customers greatly appreciate.
How have you seen salon needs and buying habits change over the last few years, and how has that shaped the way you operate?
This partnership means more accessibility, stronger connections, and continued support for the professionals who trust us to keep their creativity thriving. With these dynamic distributors by our side, 2026 already looks brighter, bolder, and more colourful.
STRENGTH IN UNITY, POWER IN FAMILY
With over 30 years of experience in the Hair and Beauty Industry, Jayne Wilkins and Chris Stroud opened their first trade store in Middlesbrough in 2008, WILKINS & STROUD.
Their superstore provides hairdressers and beauticians in the North East with a wide range of products and services tailored to their needs.
In 2014, they opened a second superstore in Jarrow, and by 2020, launched a third location in Durham. Today, the business is headed by Charley Stroud, the managing director and daughter of founder, Chris Stroud.
Earlier in the year, Global Cosmetics Group Director, Mandy Jolly & Operations Manager Seamus Phillips caught up with Charley Stroud at their Durham superstore for a Q&A catch up and introduction.
Yes, since COVID, we’ve observed a shift in our customers’ purchasing habits. People tend to buy smaller quantities more frequently, rather than stocking up for the entire month. This change has influenced the way we operate, encouraging us to adapt to their more regular, smaller-scale purchasing needs.
When introducing a brand like Leyton House Professional to salons, what qualities make it stand out to your customers?
We LOVE having Leyton house. Its amazing to support another family run business, but also the quality in the products are phenomenal. We have had amazing feedback from our customers about Leyton House and the support & training that comes along side is outstanding.
We have had Leyton House for just 4 months and the growth we have seen in this brand is amazing. The deals that Leyton house offer is the cherry on top of the cake. We are very impressed!
What’s currently your best-performing product in the Leyton House range, and why do you think it’s resonating with your customers?
Education and marketing play such an important role in brand growth. What types of support or resources do you find most valuable?
We find that having on hand education is a huge support for our customers and for us too. The Leyton House website itself has all the tools you could possibly need when changing brand but also for current users. Their Facebook support group is also a huge success for customers as they can find any information that they need
Best product has to be the 6-in-1 Rhassoul leave in treatment spray. I personally LOVE this products its my haircare essential. Not to mention the many benefits and bigger 350ml bottle, this product also has a heat defence in - we find is a real plus to this product!
What trends are you currently seeing in your market, and how is Leyton House Professional fitting into those trends?
Blonding & Toning is huge in the hairdressing industry at present
and support one another in sharing formula tricks and tips.
Looking ahead, what do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges for the professional hair industry in the UK?
Opportunities, our industry has so many talented hairdressers that are inspiring the next generation. We are finding that the up and coming hairdressers are bursting with passion for the industry and that is lovely to see.
Challenges, cost of running businesses. With inflation and the cost of premises and hiring staff. Hairdressing apprentices used to be offered widely, we now do not see these offered as often within the industry.
& Leyton House fulfills those needs. BLONDA 9 Level bleach is a huge hit with our customers and to tone, the range of Liquid Jewlz is perfect. 100ml bottle with a 1:2 mixing ratio, its a real winner.
How do salons in your region respond best to promotions, are they via discounts, educationdriven events, or social media campaigns?
Education plays a key role in helping our customers expand their knowledge, but the most effective method for us is hosting in-store events that feature promotions and discounts. These events allow us to engage with our customers directly and build stronger relationships.

Education is at the heart of both brands. Alongside distributing the Leyton House Professional range, Salon Supplies shares a strong commitment to continuous training for salon professionals.
Customer Service Manager, Nick Tyrer, explained: “Ongoing education is key to maintaining professionalism and keeping a business thriving. Much of a hairdresser’s learning comes from handson experience, but it’s equally important to revisit the basics and fill in any gaps.”

In addition to education, both partners are committed to helping salons thrive in business. Salon Supplies offers exclusive insights into building client loyalty, maximising social media, and mastering the art of consultation.
Senior Digital Marketing Executive, Lauren Sillence, highlighted an exciting new initiative:

Wiktor Biegasiewicz
Being asked to participate in a feature is often seen as an honour—but for Wiktor, this conversation became something far more profound. What started as a straightforward interview evolved into one of the most authentic and moving exchanges I’ve ever had. Wiktor’s honesty and self-reflection offered a rare glimpse into the true artist behind the craft.
What made you want to become a hairdresser?
I’ve been surrounded by hairdressing for as long as I can remember—even in kindergarten, I welcomed my first “clients” with laughter and imagination. My mother was my greatest inspiration, showing me that hairdressing is about confidence, emotion, and transformation.
The scent of hairspray, the hum of dryers, and the laughter in her salon became the soundtrack of my childhood. Later, when I won 3rd place at the KREATOR 2019 competition in Poznań with my “Paradise Bird” creation, I realised something she had always taught me: talent opens doors, but humility and determination let you walk through them.
Favourite work?
Colour transformations—luminous blondes, creative toning, multi-dimensional reflections. Colouring is like painting: every shade tells a story, every client is a new canvas. I love the balance between chemistry and artistry. When a client looks in the mirror and smiles, I know I’ve done more than colour hair—I’ve changed how they feel about themselves. That’s what drives me every day.
What motivates you to push boundaries?
My mission is to show that even in a small town like my hometown of Wilczyn, you can create world-class results. Many thought returning home would limit me, but I knew that heart and discipline could build something meaningful. Today, clients travel hundreds of kilometres to see me, which is the greatest reward. I also want to inspire other stylists to believe that success has no postcode—it’s about how you work, not where you work.
What would you like to change in our industry?
We need to recognise true talent more. Too often, young creatives are overlooked due to outdated systems or politics. Our industry should celebrate passion, authenticity, and skill. That’s why I admire Leyton House Polska—it supports individuality, encourages growth, and promotes collaboration over competition.
Joining Leyton House Polska
Before joining, I spent four years in prestigious Warsaw salons. Returning home, I thought my story might end there—but Leyton House gave me a new perspective, opportunities to travel, and a network of incredible educators who became close friends. Education became a second passion—I love sharing knowledge and showing both clients and teams that hairdressing is a way of life, a connection between people, art, and energy.
Trends for 2026
The most exciting trend is that there are no trends. Individuality now matters more than imitation. Clients are seeking authenticity, natural beauty, clean and eco-conscious products, and deeper knowledge through trichology. I’m also passionate about cryotherapy and advanced scalp rituals, hairdressing’s future lies in combining beauty, science, and wellbeing.
Advice for aspiring hairdressers
Never give up. The path is challenging, with long hours and doubts along the way. Stay humble, be patient, learn constantly, and balance creativity with business. That balance is what turns a stylist into a true professional.
Perfection—harmony between tones, shine, and softness, born from intuition.
Energy—sharing positivity so clients leave lighter, calmer, and confident. Hairdressing isn’t just about the outside—it’s about healing from within.

2024 SNAPI COLOUR AWARDS FINALIST
Some opportunities knock gently. Others kick down the door and dare you to walk through. For her, the chance to own Solarium Point was the latter.
“I’d only been working there for a year when the offer came up,” she remembers. “It was daunting, terrifying, really, but I couldn’t let it pass me by. So I jumped in headfirst.”
That was three years ago.
While Solarium Point based in Ramsgate UK was already well-loved, Danielle’s since reimagined the salon with her own personality, ethos and flare.

FROM STYLIST TO SALON OWNER:
HOW ONE LEAP CHANGED EVERYTHING
“It’s been about breathing fresh life into something established, and having a lot of fun along the way.”
Becoming her own boss has brought growth in every direction, more clients, a bigger social media following, and the freedom to shape her brand exactly as she envisions.
“I have such a mix of clients, which lets me flex my creativity in so many ways. Social media is my window to show that off.”
Inside the salon, the atmosphere is electric yet easygoing. “We’re more like a family than colleagues. We’re all obsessed with quality and education, but we also believe in making memories together. We live by ‘work hard, play hard’ nights out are practically part of the business plan.”
She’s even got a cult-favourite at-home hair trick that clients swear by. “I can’t stand dry shampoo, it dulls the hair and leaves buildup. Instead, I use eyeshadow or loose foundation powder that matches the hair colour. Browns and bronzers for dark hair, lighter shades for blondes, even bright pinks or purples for vivid tones. Apply it with a fluffy brush to your roots and voilà, instant refresh.”
When asked what her proudest career moment so far? No contest. “In 2024, I was a finalist in the Colour category of the SNAP! Awards. Out of thousands of entries, I made the top ten, and my work was displayed at Salon International in London for the world to see. That was a dream come true.”
As for what’s next in hair trends, Danielle’s predicting richness and warmth. “Think deep brunettes with auburn or chestnut hues, and blondes that feel a little more golden.”
And when it comes to inspiration, hers is everywhere. “Nature’s colours and textures are incredible. Social media can spark ideas, but the real magic happens when you trust yourself and stay open to what’s around you.”
From stylist to salon owner, her journey proves that the boldest moves often lead to the most beautiful transformations, in hair, and in life.

CREATING MY DREAM
When I left school at 16, I took my first real step toward my dream of becoming a hairdresser. My grandmother, arguably the most glamorous grandma in the world, frequently visited a local salon and was the one who tipped me off about an apprenticeship opening.
From the very first day, I knew I had found my calling. Watching the stylists at work, I quickly realised that hairdressing isn’t just about transforming appearances; it’s a form of therapy, a way to give people confidence and joy in countless, subtle ways. Throughout my career, my greatest influences have been the incredible
hairstylists I’ve had the privilege to work alongside. Each one brought a unique approach, and I learned so much simply by observing and collaborating with them-their specialties, their signature colour mixes, their creative choices.
You know what, if I weren’t a hairdresser, I think I’d be making wigs and hairpieces; there’s something about creating custom hair art that has always fascinated me. All I knew at the time was my career had to do with hair and buildling others confidence!
One of the biggest challenges in my career was
leaving my previous salon after five wonderful years. I had built a full clientele and worked alongside some incredible women, and stepping away was daunting. But change was necessary, and I was so fortunate that my clients came with me, an act of loyalty I remain deeply grateful for.
Today, I rent a space at Coco Bay, I moved my full client diary there in April 2025, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The salon is flooded with natural light, decorated in calming neutral tones,
and it instantly felt like home. It was here that I was first introduced to Leyton House by fellow stylists, a discovery that has fit seamlessly into the way I work.
The atmosphere at Coco Bay is relaxed and welcoming. It’s a creative space where I have the freedom to work in my own style, tailoring every experience to the client in front of me.
I make a point to book ample one-on-one time for each appointment. Having spent years working back-to-back and squeezing clients in wherever possible, I realised that slower, more intentional sessions allow me to meet my clients’ needs fully while also enjoying my craft to the fullest.
At the moment, I’m particularly drawn to the lived-in blonde trend. For years, blondes were all about high-impact, foil-heavy transformations, but I love the softer, lowermaintenance approach. At the studio, we offer mid-cycle packages like face-frame refreshes and toner touch-ups, Liquid Jewlz are fabulous for these services, which help maintain the look while protecting the hair’s condition.
Staying current is crucial, and our studio places a strong emphasis on continued learning. We recently attended an education day in London with the remarkable Kaine Vakaii and a HairCon event in Manchester, exploring live demos and new techniques that keep us at the forefront of the industry.
Of course, hairdressing has its lighter moments. I remember a client brought a photo of her cocker spaniel’s ear as inspiration, she loved the caramel tones, it turned out to be a perfect match.
Every day in this industry reminds me why I fell in love with hairdressing in the first place. It’s a blend of creativity, connection, and transformation, a craft I’m proud to call my own.

Toning Blues & Tips
“Hi, I’m Sam Davenport from Hello Gorgeous Salon in Montana, USA. I want to share some of my toning experiences, along with a few of those classic ‘oops moments’ we all stumble into. The good news? Most of them are easy to fix with just a few simple tweaks and tricks. Let’s break it down together… ready to dive in?”
USING THE WRONG SHADE
The Oops: It’s easy to grab your favorite violet or ash shade to fight warmth but then the toner backfires. Instead of a blonde void of yellow with a cool finish, you end up with a dull blonde and some warmth still showing through.
The Fix: Analyze what’s really happening in the hair. What undertones are exposed, yellow, orange, or red? Tone with the pigment in mind, not just what you usually grab. Sometimes two toners are required, one to neutralize and one to refine the final tone. And remember, sometimes a little warmth creates balance and shine.
MY PRO FORMULA:
Level 9 to 10 yellow: For a clean luminous blonde. Mix Liquid Jewlz Prosecco .021T/.NVAT + a dash of Latte .023T/.NVGT + 1.5%/5vol LHP Developer.
Level 7 to 8 orange: To cancel brass without making the hair looking hollow. Mix Liquid Jewlz 8.021/8NVA Mocha + 8.0/8N Caramel (1:1) + 1.5%/5vol LHP Developer.
TIMING TROUBLES
The Oops: Toner timing can make or break your results. Leave toner on porous hair too long and end up with too much ash. Leave toner on too short and the color does not deposit enough, and therefore faster fade out at home.
The Fix: Set a timer or write down the time of application. Watch visually after the 3 minute mark, especially on porous hair. Do not rinse too soon, that can shorten the toner’s longevity.
MY TOP TIP:
by Samantha Davenport
on for the maximum processing time (20 mins), giving your client optimum longevity. For very porous hair I like to use ½ Prosecco + ½ Liquid Gloss (1:1).
For semi porous hair I like to use ¾ Prosecco + ¼ Liquid Gloss.
POROSITY COUNTS
The Oops: After lifting, you apply the toner and it’s patchy. Oh no, why? You did everything right, or so you thought.
Every processing minute equals 1 hair wash (10 mins = 10 washes).
MY PRO FORMULA: If you’re afraid of your toner grabbing too quickly, sheer it out with gloss. This slows down the deposit process so you can leave it
The Fix: Hair is constantly shifting in porosity with every chemical service. Uneven porosity means uneven toner. Prep the canvas before you tone. A porosity balancing spray like Rhassoul 6 in 1 helps level out the hair so toner absorbs evenly.
MY PRO FORMULA:
My go to routine. Rinse out the lightener, shampoo with Rhassoul
Revitalise, apply 6 in 1 throughout, and then go mix toner. This gives the hair a few minutes to stabilize its pH before toning, so your result is smooth instead of splotchy.
TONING THE VISION NOT THE REALITY
The Oops: Your client wants icy blonde but
you only lifted to a level 9. You grab 10.021/10NVA Lavender Tea, because hey it looks close enough, right? Wrong!!
Forcing a level 10 formula on level 9 hair will not get you icy, it will go muddy, flat, or not show up.
The Fix: Tone to the level you actually achieved, not the one in your head. If you did not reach the level
needed, adjust the plan. Sometimes the secret weapon is to PRETONE.
MY PRO FORMULA:
Client is a Level 9 blonde with yellow undertone and wants to be as icy as possible. I like to pretone with Rhassoul Blonde Toning Shampoo before applying the toner. Apply the shampoo through the hair like a conditioner without lathering too much, let it sit for 5 minutes, rinse, and reassess the level. This clears the canvas so you can tone with icier shades and thus allowing a brighter cooler finish than if you skipped the pretone.
USING TONER TO BANDAID A BAD LIFT
The Opps: Banding, patchiness, or lifting demarcation in the hair. You’re tempted to fix it covering up with a toner.
Believe me, you can’t just use one toner! That alone won’t erase lifting mistakes. If the base is not consistent, the tone won’t be either.
The Fix: Toner is not plaster to cover up mistakes, it’s a polish. If the lift is uneven, re-lift where possible. If that’s not an option, tone on level or tone one level darker to create balance.
This has happened to me when a client forgot to mention pre-existing color. The roots lifted beautifully but the ends, well, not so well. In this case I suggest a root smudge. I like using 8.021/8NVA Mocha or 6.021/6NVA Macchiato blended into an end toner that is applied on level for a seamless transition.
MY PRO FORMULA: Smudge the root with a demi one shade deeper, such as Natural with a touch of Ash, then tone mids and ends lighter. This softens demarcation and creates a more natural blend.
MY FINAL TAKEAWAY
Toner is your final kiss on a color service. The right shade, timing, and prep can turn “meh, it’s fine” into “wow, I love it.” And here is the secret. Do not overcomplicate it. Keep your color wheel handy, trust your eye, and play with formulas on swatches.
Toner should be the fun part of a colour service, not the scary part.
When you stop fearing the bowl and start owning it, that is when the real magic and those heart stopping colors happen.

Last MinuteCANCELLATIONS
BY MANDY JOLLY
Oh, I’ve seen some gems over the years on forums from hairdressers. Here are 3 real-life excuses some hairdressers have heard when clients cancel (Yep! The kind that’ll make you want to giggle):
“My dog ate my car keys, so I can’t drive in.”
(Apparently it happens. Vets and locksmiths rejoice.)
“I can’t come… Mercury is in retrograde and I don’t want to risk a fringe cut.”
(Astrology apparently rules hair too.)
“I coloured my own hair last night… and now I need to wait until it ‘settles’.” (Translation: major colour correction next visit.)
The Art of Tackling Last-Minute Cancellations (Without Losing Your Sanity or Your Clients)
By Mandy – Leyton House Professional
Let’s be honest: as hairdressers, we’re not just stylists — we’re time jugglers, diary managers, and occasionally, mind readers. But nothing throws our beautifully colour-coded schedule into chaos quite like a last-minute cancellation or a full-blown no-show.
It’s the salon equivalent of getting stood up on date night… except you’ve already brewed the coffee, mixed the colour, and mentally planned your client’s transformation.
So, how do you handle it without either crying into your foils or writing strongly worded Facebook posts? Here’s my go-to guide.
1. Make Your Policy Loud and Proud
Don’t hide it like the salon biscuit stash — put it everywhere. Reception desk, booking confirmations, website, social media.
Example: “We require 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows will incur a 50% fee.”
Clear. Direct. Impossible to “accidentally miss”.
1. Make Your Policy Loud & Proud
Don’t treat it like the secret biscuit stash - make it visible everywhere, at reception, in booking conformations, on your website, across social media.
2. Master the Friendly but Firm Reply
We’re not heartless — life happens! But that doesn’t mean your time is any less valuable. Try: “We completely understand that things come up! Please remember our 48-hour cancellation policy is in place to respect our stylists’ time. Late cancellations or no-shows will incur a fee as per our policy.”
2. Master the Firm but Friendly Reply
Life happens - but so does wasted time. The tricks is balancing empathy with boundaries
It’s polite, empathetic, but leaves no wiggle room for repeat offenders.
3. Let Technology Do the Nagging for You
SMS or email reminders 48 and 24 hours ahead are your best friends. Add a reschedule link so clients can change plans early instead of disappearing five minutes before their slot. (Bonus: you’ll look like the most organised stylist on the planet.)
3. One Free Pass
Loyal clients are human, sometimes they genuinely forget or face emergencies. Give them a free pass, it builds good-will without setting a dangerous precedent.
4. Give a “Free Pass” — Once
For your loyal clients who genuinely forgot or had a mini life crisis, let them off the hook once. It builds goodwill — but make it clear it’s not a habit-forming offer.
4. Take a deposit
Colour corrections, bridal, full head highlights and smoothing treatments. Always take a non-refundable deposit. A little financial commitment works wonders for client reliability
5. Put a Price on Premium Time
Big jobs like colour corrections, keratin treatments, or bridal hair? Take a deposit. Nonrefundable if they cancel late. It’s amazing how a little financial commitment keeps calendars intact.
6.
Know When to Say Goodbye
If someone is a repeat no-show, it’s okay to enforce prepayment or stop booking them altogether. Your time is worth gold — don’t spend it on clients who don’t value it.
Bottom line?
A well-handled cancellation policy is like a good balayage — seamless, balanced, and makes you look like a total professional. Set the boundaries, stick to them, and you’ll protect both your income and your sanity.
