Concord Grapes - Local Jewels Concord grapes are a WNY jewel - aren’t we lucky? Concords are grown in few areas, and the majority of our country’s concord grape production happens right in our Southern Tier. Concords are super sweet and deep in color and flavor. The skins are edible but tough. Try popping the grapes from their skins into your mouth for a burst of grape flavor without chewy skins. What more could you ask for in a snack? Grapes are refreshing, sweet, and low in calories. They provide fiber, vitamins, and those highly touted antioxidants. No preparation (beyond a good rinsing) is required, and they’re already perfectly bite-sized! Grapes also enliven dishes. Try them in a chicken curry or a rice salad. A range of colors— red, purple, and frosty green—makes a pretty plate for easy entertaining or an after-school treat.

Cheeses we love with Concords • Aged Gouda • Goat Cheeses • Aged Cheddars, especially Prairie Breeze and Beecher Handmade Cheese There are all kinds of activities along the Concord Grape Belt, a narrow, 60 mile ribbon along Lake Erie, stretching from Chautauqua County, New York to Erie, Pennsylvania in autumn. Visit lakelubbers.com for bunches of festivities during the Concord harvest from mid-September to mid-October. The perfect time for a local drive!

Our local Concord grapes come from Fredonia, NY

Other local favorites Merlot, Champagne (Black Corinth) & Niagara
