WELCOME Dear Families, Welcome to Lexington Christian Academy! We are so happy that your family will be joining our school this year. For some families, this is a brand new experience, for others, you are enrolling an additional student or returning to LCA after being away for a few years – regardless of which category your family falls in, we are excited and look forward to serving you!

This Welcome Guide highlights a variety of information to help you prepare for the school year. Within the guide you find key contacts, “the basics,” lunch information, arrival and dismissal schedules, reminders regarding important dates, and information regarding our advancement initiatives. You’ll also find information specific to each of our individual campuses.

While we each serve our own section of the school, our hope is that you will come to see this place as one big family, each area working with the others to develop a unique community that reaches far beyond the classrooms. Rose Primary Campus (TK-2nd) Teachers will have their rooms open and ready for students at 7:40am.

Parents can either walk their children to their classrooms or use the carline to drop off their children at the campus entrance.

Junior High Parents can drop off their children in the junior high student drop off between 7:30-8:10am. Students should report to the main gym where they can socialize with friends, study for classes, or play. Students may sit at the tables in the gym hallway only if they are eating. At 8:10am, the junior high hallways will open, students can go to their lockers then report to 1st period.

CAR SIGNS

High School

PS-6th Grade

Parents can drop off their children in the high school student drop off between 7:30-8:10am. Students can go to their lockers and prepare for their 1st period. If a high school student is driving his/herself, then he/she needs to arrive and report to 1st period by 8:20am.

Car signs will be provided to each family during the back-to-school open house. Families are asked to write their children’s names on the car sign, then place them in the front window during carline.

7th-12th Grade Junior high and high school parents are not required to obtain and/or display a car sign.

High school students who drive to school must register their vehicle with the high school office by the end of the second week of school or immediately upon receiving their license.

Students may park only in their assigned parking area.

MORNING ARRIVAL Rose Campus Rose Preschool Campus Teachers will have their rooms open and ready for students at 7:40am.

Tates Creek Campus (TK-6th) The Tates Creek Campus offers a before-care program between 78:10am. Families who are interested in this program can register prior to and during the back-to-school open house.

Children participating in the beforeschool program will be escorted to their classrooms at 8:10am.

Teachers will have their rooms open and ready for students at 8:10am.

MORNING PLEDGES Every morning our students start their school day reciting pledges to the American flag, Christian flag, and Bible.

In addition, our students will spend time sharing prayer requests, scripture, and then prayer.

CAMPUS SECURITY Once the school day has started, our entrances are locked and remain locked until the end of the school day.

During the school day, guests must access their student’s campus through the applicable office entrance. Guests are asked to use our intercom system in order to gain access to the building.

Once inside the building, guests are asked to sign-in at the applicable office and obtain a visitor’s badge or sticker. The campus office staff will assist the guest by providing information or requesting the guest’s child from his/her class. Once the guest has completed his/her visit, then he/she is asked to sign-out of the applicable office.

EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS RenWeb RenWeb is LCA’s student information system. RenWeb captures student, family, and faculty information. In addition, it stores grades, attendance, and guidance records.

Parents can log in to RenWeb through “Parents Web” via the LCA website.

Parents and students have instant access to school and academic information, including online lunch ordering, attendance, homework, and more.

In addition, RenWeb Home App for Parents RenWeb Home provides access to the features in ParentsWeb via a mobile app. RenWeb Home is available for iOS (iPhone or iPad) and Android devices for an annual subscription of $4.99 per household.

Converge Learning Management System Converge is a K-12 focused learning management system designed to connect educators to students and their families. Converge allows educators to organize and share information including: class notes, assignments, announcements, and grades. Students and parents can access this system via an online portal.

Training sessions for both RenWeb and Converge will be available to new parents prior to the start of the school year.

STUDENT HANDBOOK At the start of each school year, LCA will publish its school handbook.

Beginning this year, there will be one Student Parent/Handbook for parents to access, with individual campus information included throughout.

Parents can access their students’ handbook by signing into ParentsWeb via the LCA website.

LUNCH OVERVIEW LCA Lunch Program LCA partners with several local vendors to provide a variety of hot lunch options for our students. At Rose Campus, our vendors include Chick-fila, Chili’s, Culver’s, Fazoli’s, Moe’s, Raising Cane’s and Subway (additional vendors may be added during the school year). Our Tates Creek Campus lunches are catered by Immanuel Baptist’s food service staff with Chickfil-a available for purchase on Fridays.

Papa John’s cheese or pepperoni pizza is also an option at both campuses every day hot lunch is served. TK-6th grade students receive milk with their lunch and Junior High and High School students receive a bottled water. If a student does not wish to order from

the hot lunch menu, they can bring a packed lunch from home. Students may also purchase milk (TK-6th grade) or a bottled water (Junior High and High School) to go along with their packed lunch. Junior High and High School students also have the option to purchase from our Grab-n-Go line in the lunchroom which includes salads, gluten-free meals and a variety of other options. The lunch menus are located on each family’s RenWeb account under Student Information > Lunch.

Lunch Ordering Parents pre-order their student’s lunches one week in advance through RenWeb under Student Information > Lunch. The RenWeb HOME app is another convenient option for parents to pre-order lunches on their Smart Phone by navigating to Student > Lunch. Lunch ordering for the week is turned off on Sunday at midnight before the week begins. After this time, lunch ordering will shift to the next week in advance.

Eagle Account Every student has an Eagle Account that is used to order and pay for student lunches. Parents can load funds to their student’s Eagle Account in RenWeb under the FACTS tab. Junior High and High School students can also use their Eagle Account for purchases in the WINGS Store, Grab-nGo and Concession stand. Parents can view their student’s purchases and account balance in RenWeb under the FACTS tab. All families must have a FACTS account linked to their Eagle Account in order to purchase lunches, concessions or items in the WINGS Store. PARENT COMMUNICATION Wingspan Wingspan is a weekly newsletter sent to all families on Thursday. Wingspan

is the primary means of sharing important information with our parents and students, including: school news, upcoming events, and reminders.

Within Wingspan, families will find “campus connections” highlighting information, not only for the entire school system; but for each campus as well.

Text Alerts LCA’s text alert system is used to notify families of important pieces of information or reminders. For example, LCA will use the text alert system to announce snow days.

Parent Teacher Conferences A parent-teacher conference day has been scheduled for October 27th. Prior to the conference day, all preschool-6th grade families will be asked to sign-up for a time to meet with their children’s teachers on the 27th and discuss their children’s progress. 7th-12th grade students’ families may also request a meeting with their children’s teachers; however this is not a requirement.

Conferences can be scheduled at any time throughout the year by contacting your student’s teacher or through the applicable campus office.

STUDENT BILLING Student billing is done through a thirdparty tuition management company, FACTS. FACTS Management is the nation’s leading tuition payment plan provider for private and faith-based schools and was selected by LCA to manage tuition, athletics fees, incidentals and the lunch payment and ordering process.

All receipts are available to each family at all times on their FACTS Parent Page. By logging in to ParentsWeb from the LCA website, you can access your FACTS Parent Page under Family Information > FACTS > Click to the link to route you to your FACTS homepage.

It only requires logging in once, before the connection is made between ParentsWeb and FACTS. 5|Page

PARENT TEACHER FELLOWSHIP (PTF) The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF)’s role is to serve and support LCA in various enrichment capacities. The PTF works together to enhance the experiences of our students, build community spirit, and provide positive opportunities for our parents to serve together.

We celebrate parental involvement at LCA and appreciate everyone's involvement. Whether aiding in the classroom, praying for our students and teachers, assisting with fundraising efforts, preparing a special treat for our teachers, serving hot lunch, chaperoning a field trip, or working on a special event, LCA loves to see parents on campus!

Volunteering is a wonderful way for new families to get to know the parents of their child’s classmates.

Reminders An admissions requirement for LCA’s preschool program is that each student be potty-trained by the first day of school. “Potty-trained” simply means that your child has obtained control of bodily functions and has achieved independence in usage of the bathroom. Diapers or pull-ups are no longer part of their attire.

All new LCA students must have a birth certificate, current immunization record and current physical exam record on file.

Grade Level Gatherings Each summer, LCA parents organize and facilitate events for families to gather, make new friend connections,

Lunch Requirements State requires lunches to contain a protein, grain (bread, crackers), serving of a vegetable and a serving of fruit.

Families can purchase milk at beginning of the school year or bring their children’s milk or water, no juice.

Lunch Schedule Each of our all-day preschool classes eat their lunches in their classrooms.

Their normal lunch time is 11:30am.

Standardized Dress Code

Chapel Schedule Chapel is held on Wednesday mornings at 9:50-10:20am in the Rose Campus Chapel. The program is developed and led by our elementary spiritual life director, Mr. Keith Johnson, otherwise known as “Mr. Fudd.” Using What’s in the Bible?

Curriculum, we take our students on a journey from Genesis all the way to Revelation over the course of two years. Therefore, primary students will go through the entire Bible twice from the time they enter kindergarten until they are ready to move on from third grade. Along with high energy worship, we use our chapel service each week as a spring board to kick off the Bible curriculum. Students leave chapel with a BIG QUESTION that they have to go back to the classroom to discover the answer to as they work their way through the curriculum.

Parents and grandparents are welcome to join us for our weekly chapel programs. This is a time for further connection and community.

Feather’s Clubhouse (Afterschool Care) Feather’s Clubhouse is LCA’s afterschool care program. It provides care, recreation and enrichment after the normal school hours until 6PM. It is available to all-day students who are attending the Rose Primary Campus in grades Transitional Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Families must register their children in order for them to be able to attend. Fees are charged based upon the student’s enrollment.

Chapel Schedule Chapel is held on Thursday afternoons at 2:10-3:10pm in The Summit. The program is developed and led by our elementary spiritual life director, Mr. Keith Johnson, otherwise known as “Mr. Fudd.” Our Intermediate Chapel Service is primarily led by students. Students lead worship, operate all the sound equipment, manage the multi-media as well as man the video cameras we use to record the service each week. There is even a crew of students that set-up and tear down all 350 chairs each week. The Intermediate Chapel Service is called CRAVE Live! Our desire is for our students to not only CRAVE the pure spiritual milk of the Word, but to also develop a spiritual hunger for the meat of the Word as well. Just like the Primary Chapel we use CRAVE as a spring board for our Bible curriculum. Over the course of three years, our students study through the book of James, the book of Philippians and the Sermon on the Mount.

Textbooks

The high school chapel programs are held Thursdays at 10:00am-10:55am.

All high school students are required to obtain their textbooks by the first week of school. Parents can choose to borrow, buy, or lease their children’s textbooks. The blessings above can only be accomplished through the gifts of our families and friends. Each year, we have a giving campaign, as well as community celebrations to help us reach our fundraising goals. In addition to meeting financial needs, these events provide a time of fellowship for LCA families and allow us to connect with the community. Please plan to attend this year’s primary fundraisers – Peppermints & Pearls (November 2 and 3) and Bluegrass JamFest (April 19).
