MOTION PROJECT 1ST YEAR 4 THIS PROJECT FOCUSED ON THE USE OF A COMMON MOTION AND BREAKING IT DOWN TO UNDERSTAND THE HUMAN SCALE AND THE ENTIRITY OF THE SPACE THAT IS BEING UAED TO COMPLETE THE MOTION. IN THIS PROJECT I USED THE MOTION OF WALKING UP TO A DRYER AND BEIND OVER TO OPEN THE DOOR. I TOOK THE SHAPES THAT MY UPPER BODY CREATD TO MAKE THE MOTION MODEL.

I CREATED A COLLAGE OF THE MOTION OF WALKING UP TO THE DRYER AND OPENING IT. I THEN TRANSITIONED THESE PHOTOS INTO SCALE DRAWINGS FOCUSING ON THE MOVEMENTS OF MY JOINTS AND UPPER BY UNDERSTANDING THE MOVEMENT OF MY UPPER BODY AND ARMS THROUGH THE MOTION I WAS ABLE TO EXTRACT SHAPES THAT REPRESENT CHECKPOINTS IN THE MOTION. 5

6 I USED A GRADIENT OF COLORS TO EMPHASIZE THE DIRECTION OF THE MOVEMENT. I WANTED TO USE A CURVED LAYOUT TO BE ABLE TO VIEW THE STRUCTURE FROM MANY DIFFERENT ANGELS AND GET DIFFERENT VIEWS AND ABSTRACTIONS.

SPACIAL JOURNEY 1ST YEAR THIS PROJECT USED A GIVEN KIT OF PARTS TO CREATE A JOURNEY USING A SMALL WALL TO CONSTRUCT THE PATH. I WANTED TO CREATE A SPACE THAT FELT LIKE AN OUTDOOR SCULPTURE THAT YOU CAN WALK THROUGH. I ALSO WANTED TO CREATE A STRUCTURE THAT BLENDED IN WITH NATURE AND GAVE VIEWS OF THE ENVIRON MENT AROUND IT. 8

I USED A POR TION OF THE PIECES TO CRE ATE FRAMES AT EACH POINT THAT GIVES A GOOD LOOKOUT VIEW TO THROHGOUTCHECKPOINTSCREATETHEJOURNEY. PLAN VIEW EAST ELEVATION WEST ELEVATION 9

NORTH ELEVATION SOUTH ELEVATION 10 I USED THE GIVEN STAIRS TO CREATE A “PICTURE FRAME” THROUGH THE WALL GIVING AN INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE VIEW FROM MANY ANGELS.

FLAMINGO POND 2ND YEAR THIS PROJECT WAS CREATED THROUGH USING A MODEL OF AN ANIMAL AND USING ITS ITIAL STRUC TURE TO INSPIRE THE CREATION OF A HOME/NEIGHBORHOOD. I CHOSE A FLAMINGO BECAUSE OF ITS HEIGHT AND INTERESTING FLUIDITY. I USED THE BODY AND HEAD OF THEVFLA MINGO AS ANCHOR POINTS FOR THE MAIN ROOMS IN THE HOME. THE FLA MINGO HOUSE INCLUDES A KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, ONE BEDROOM, AND ONE BATHROOM. 12

SECTION CUT LOUVERS ARE USED TO SHADE TO INSIDE OF THE HOME FROM EXCESSIVE SUN LIGHT. LOUVERS CAN BE MANUVERED TO ANY ANGLE TO CREATE SHADE IN THE SUM MER AS WELL AS LET IN THE LIGHT DURING THE WINTER. 15

BUS2NDSHELTERYEAR THIS PROJECT WAS CREATED TO ADD A BUS SHELTER TO AN AREA IN LAWRENCE. I CHOSE TO ADD A BUS STOP ON THE KU CAMPUS ACROSS FROM ALLEN FIELDHOUSE NEXT TO THE REC PARKING LOT. I WANTED THIS PROJECT TO BLEND IN MORE NATURALLY WITH THE SUR ROUNDING ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS CREATE A CALMING AREA TO REST WHILE WAITING FOR THE BUS. 16

THESE SCREENS ALLOW FOR AIR FLOW THROUGHOUT THE BUS SHELTER AS WELL AS GIVING SOME PRIVACY BY USING THE FROSTED GLASS. INFORMATION ABOUT THE BUS SHELTER IS ENGRAVED INTO THE FROSTED GLASS FOR VISITORS TO READ AT THEIR LESIURE. 17
