The Water Museum aims to inform, motivate and connect citizens with the reality of the relationship humanity has with water. The overall goal for the Water Museum is to share the positive impact water has on everyone’s health and mental well-being. This influence of mental well-being is highlighted through the built sinkhole through the building that is used to form an unique experience.

This concept was inspired by the natural sinkhole ‘Cenote’ in Mexico. The focus of this building revolved around the centre exhibition which features a built sinkhole that flows through each floor, to create an unique experience for the visitors.
Visitors are drawn to the central ‘sinkhole’, which allows them to experience a unique journey throughout the building. Immediately being confronted with this connection with water, which is only reinforced as you continue through the building.
The orientation of the building allows optimum access of daylight throughout the day, whilst also taking full advantage of the views across the river to the south. Positioning the entrance North presents the best possible access to the building from all orientations, allowing the Museum to be welcoming and inviting.

Longshaw Estate , Sheffield
This projects main focus for this project was to create a seed bank/ repository that also includes research and education facility, that invites the public to learn the importance of seed repository. Situated in the peak districts which creates a unique challenge in landscape and ecology that promotes sustainability. The driving focus of design stems from wanting the building to co-exist within its surroundings, essentially making the building a part of the nature.
With the concept of wanting the building to belong with its surroundings, the groundfloor has been submerged into the landscape essentially allows the building to become rooted into the landscape truly co-existing with the land.
Cutting back the high level creating room for a growing space
Cutting the lower form back
Adding stairs and a stone wall
The form of the seed bank became a product of its surrounding environment, following the existing contours of the landscape, in order to truly belong.
The seed bank is a public and private building and this is shown through the floor plan, the building has been separated into public and private.
