A Very Special Day To Remember

AFC Bournemouth treated our wonderful patients, their carers and families to a fantastic day filled with fun and laughter at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth.

Patients and guests were welcomed by the club’s former Chairman and Lewis-Manning Ambassador, Jeff Mostyn, before taking an exclusive stadium tour. Everyone was treated to behind the scenes access to the changing rooms, pitch, the media room and lots more.

After a delicious hot lunch, the patients were able to take part in a game of chair football and other fantastically fun games, hosted by the amazing AFC Bournemouth’s community team. The room was a sea of smiles and giggles, with the team agreeing to come to the hospice in the future to play more chair football with patients - how wonderful!

The day concluded with a Q&A session with AFC Bournemouth’s rising talent, Ben Greenwood, who let us in on some trade secrets, like what they eat before a match and what a day in the life of a footballer is really like.

On behalf of all the patients, carers, family members and staff, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care would like to say a huge thank you to AFC Bournemouth’s team for such a magical day that we will not be forgetting any time soon.

“On our hospice days, we don’t sit and talk about our illnesses, we talk about everyday life. There’s no doom and gloom, there’s always so much laughter - it’s a very happy place to be.”
