What is different?
Transition2childrenwillbenefitfromasubstantiallylargerclassroomandbetter integrationwiththeReceptionclass,enablingustopreparethemfortransitioninto theirchosenschool.
Ouroldestchildrenwillbeabletoworkonmorefocusedactivitieswithoutbeing disturbedbytheyoungest.
Therewillbeanincreasedchancetoplayalongside,andlearnfrom,theirolderpeers.
CloserproximitytothePrepSchoolmeansthatthechildrenwillbeabletobenefitfrom someoftheadditionalfacilitiessuchasthetenniscourtsandridingacademy.
What stays the same?
Transition2,whichwillbeknownasPre-School,willstillbepartofthewiderNursery. TheywillstillenjoytheirlunchwiththeotherNurseryclasses,andwillregularlycome overtomixwiththeyoungerchildren–especiallyforourmanyevents.
WewillstillberunningasawholeNurseryteamandthestaffwillcontinuetoworkwith alloftheclassestoensurethatthechildrenareasfamiliaraspossiblewiththeadults aroundthem.
TheexistingNurserybuildingwillbeadaptedtosuittheneedsofouryoungestchildren, withTransition1,whowillbeknownasTweenies,movingintothecurrentToddler classroomandToddlerstakingoverthelargerTransition2room.Thiswillenablethem tooperatewithoutthedisturbanceofthemainentrance.
OurcurrentTransition1classroomwillbecomeaflexiblesoft-playandsensoryspace, fortheuseofallthechildrenacrossNursery.
Inthecomingmonths,wewillbefinalisingourfundraisingforthenewNursery climbingframe,andwewillbereplacingouryurtcoverandlining.
Theseplansreflectourcommitmenttoensuringthateverychildhastheverybest possiblestarttotheireducationaljourney.Thechangeswillprovideuswithmore space,moreflexibilityandmoreabilitytomeetyourchild’sneeds.

Whyischangenecessary?
OurNurseryisverypopular,anditcangetbusy.This changewillenableustoaccommodatemorechildren withoutputtingadditionalpressureonourexisting resources.Moreimportantly,itwillenableustobetter meettheneedsofourPre-Schoolchildren,whocanhave theirlearningdisturbedbyloudbabiesormusicwhen theyareengagedinmorefocusedactivity.
Havingtheminamoretraditional‘classroom’willpreventthis,aswellashelpingthem topreparebetterforthetransitiontoschool.TheirincreasedinteractionwiththePrePrepwillbedevelopmentallyadvantageous.
Willthestaffingchange?
No.TheearlyyearspractitionerswhoworkwithourTransition2classwillremainthe same,andourwonderfulteacher,MrsWrixon,willcontinuetoleadthem.Pre-School staffwillcontinuetobepartofourwiderNurseryteam,liaisingregularlywithstaff acrossthesetting.
Willtherebeanychangestotheprovisionofferedforthechildren?
WewillcontinuetoofferthesameexceptionalbreadthofcurriculumforourPre-School children,includingweeklyPE,ForestSchool,Languages,MusicandSwimmingin additiontotheirdailyprovisionforphonics,mathsandliteracy.Inadditiontothese,we willbeextendingthenumberofspecialistopportunitiesforyourchild;addinghorse ridingandtennistothecurrentlistofballetandrugbytotssessions.
Willitbesafeandsecure?
ThenewEarlyYearsUnitwillhaveanewexteriorfenceandvideodoorbellaccesssoit willbefullysecureandsafeforourpupils.Inordertodrop-offandcollectinthe morning,youwillcometotheexteriorgateandringadoorbell,justasyoudotogain entrytothecurrentNurserybuilding.
CanthePre-Schoolchildrenstillsleepiftheyneedto?Wherewilltheysleep?
Yes.Wewillstillsupportanychildreninthisagebracketwhoneedtohaveanapinthe afternoon.TheywillcontinuetousetheNurserysleeproom.
