DeliciousSpruce Syrup

![]()

Spruce syrup, also called pine bud syrup, is a preparation wellsuited for young children because the steps are simple. What’s more, the maceration happens in the warmth of the sun. The syrup can be enjoyed simply as a drink with water, or served with applesauce or yogurt
Materials needed:
Harvest baskets
Glass jars
Good-quality sugar
Sieve or fine strainer
Funnel
Scale (optional)
Glass bottle with swing-top closure (like lemonade bottles)
Supplies to make a label

The warmth of the sun should allow the sugar to dissolve into the “spruce juice.” The contents of the jar should become liquid. If the sun isn’t strong enough, place the jar near a radiator. After about 3 weeks, strain everything. Fill your bottles and the syrup is ready! Step2:Filteringandbottling
