‘The
Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.’
Psalm 28:7
Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world. In recent years, civil conflict and drought have pushed millions into crisis.
For most, getting even basic healthcare is a struggle. Many are living in desperate poverty, diagnosed too late to prevent permanent disabilities. Prejudice surrounding leprosy continues to devastate lives. Because of you, the small Leprosy Mission Ethiopia team are changing this. Thank you for keeping them and people affected by leprosy across the country in your prayers.
Pray that each person affected by leprosy in Ethiopia will receive the vital treatment they need. Ask too that people will regain their independence and mobility through ulcer treatment and reconstructive surgery.
Praise God that government health workers are learning to diagnose and treat leprosy. Pray that decision makers and community leaders across the country will gain a heart for those affected by the disease. May they be inspired to work to end leprosy, poverty, and stigma.
Please pray that the Prince of Peace will reign over Ethiopia and give wisdom to all those working to end conflict. Ask that the Lord will protect the Leprosy Mission team as they travel long distances to serve rural communities affected by leprosy.
Please pray for Bel, as she leads the work in Ethiopia. As her small team keep their eyes fixed on Jesus, pray that He will be at the heart of everything they do. May He draw close to them each day, and strengthen them when their mission is challenging.
Leprosy may have existed for thousands of years, but there is still so much about it that is unknown. Research is vital for stopping the spread of this cruel disease, and ensuring people affected can get the best possible care.
Thanks to your dedicated support, we have been at the forefront of research for decades. Today your love is fuelling research that will help to consign leprosy to the history books for good.
Pray that God will inspire scientific innovations in the fight against leprosy. Pray too for an early diagnostic test, so we can find and cure people before the disease causes permanent disability.
Give thanks for our partnerships with universities in Great Britain and across the world. Pray that the Lord will raise up more researchers dedicated to ending leprosy. May He bless them with wisdom, creativity, and perseverance as they seek new breakthroughs.
Please pray for people affected by leprosy who are learning to become researchers themselves. Ask that the Lord will bless their work and equip them with new confidence and skills. May people listen to their findings and be inspired to act.
Research takes time and investment. Ask that the Lord will open doors to funding for research projects. Pray the stories of people affected by leprosy will touch the hearts of funders, and inspire them to invest in ending this cruel disease.

For many people affected by leprosy, the worst aspect of the disease is how they are treated. In Nigeria, stigma and discrimination has left young people battling with depression, anxiety, fear, and shame.
But thanks to you, they don’t need to struggle alone. With your support, communities are uniting to provide mental health support and the help young people need to thrive.
Please pray for young people affected by leprosy in Nigeria who are struggling with their mental health. Ask that the Lord will surround them with His love and give them the strength to ask for help.

Through your kindness, grandmothers are training to become community counsellors. Please pray that the Lord will bless them as they support young people with their mental health. May He give them the right words to comfort, encourage, and reassure.
For many young people affected by leprosy in Nigeria, it’s hard to feel hopeful. Pray for an end to the stigma and poverty that holds them back, and ask that Jesus will open doors to new opportunities for the future.
As 2025 draws to a close, we thank God for your compassion for people affected by leprosy this year. May the Lord bless you as you bless others, and fill you with His peace, joy, and hope.

Every year, more than 10,000 children and young people are told they have leprosy. But many more go undiagnosed, facing the brutal physical, emotional, and social effects of the disease.
No child should face poverty, exclusion, or permanent disability because of leprosy. Together we boldly pray for an end to child leprosy, so every young person can thrive.
As we campaign to end child leprosy, we pray that Jesus will be at the heart of everything we do together. May we be His hands and feet, as we bring healing, hope, and justice to children across Africa and Asia.

Please pray for every child who will hear they have leprosy this year. Pray too that our teams will reach young people who would otherwise be forgotten. Through their dedication and your love, may each child get the cure, care, and compassion they need.
No child should face bullying because of leprosy. Pray for an end to stigma that leaves children isolated and excluded. Give thanks that through your support, our teams are restoring friendships and opportunities for young people.
Sunday 25 January marks World Leprosy Day. We thank God that you are part of a global community calling for an end to child leprosy. Please pray that leprosy will be included in government health systems.
