Why do you love using colour?

“I look at colour as a personal thing that identifies one space over another. I don’t do the same colours over and over again.

It’s my signature to show people that they can use colour in a very beautiful, fun and tasteful way. I also play with scale and love to mix patterns and textures.”

Do you have a rule for using colour in decor?

“People put a lot of parameters around colour. And I don’t really believe in those rules. There are always possibilities.

And with colour, like anything in life – even if it’s a neutral – you are going to get sick of it. If after six months you are tired of those pillows, you’ll change it out anyway, regardless of the colour.”

What helps you decide which colour you should use in your home?

“Pay attention to the things that you look at and respond to positively that involve colour. If it’s a flower, an ad, a work of art, a textile... it’s important to pay attention to those clues. It doesn’t need to be bold, red and crazy. It just needs to be a statement of who you are and how you want to live.”

ENTERTAINING PRO TIP Use medium-high heat on an induction range to get a good crust without cooking the meat inside or burning the sesame seeds.

SEARED AHI TUNA – SEAR PERFECTION Andrew’s signature Seared Ahi Tuna with a perfectly-toasted sesame exterior and tender, rare interior is sublime done on an induction range. Here are Andrew’s top 3 tips for fast and easy induction cooking: 1 If a magnet sticks to your pots and pans, you can use them.

Induction cooktops use electromagnets to heat cookware.

2 Induction burners heat up quickly. Best to use medium heat to start. To bring heat down fast, take your pan off the burner for a second or two, and dial down the heat.

3 Clean-ups are easy. Use a wet sponge or paper towel and wipe off.

ZINGY COLESLAW Try Andrew’s easy recipe for Zingy Coleslaw and to save time, prep the veggies and dressing the day before and simply toss together the evening-of.

INGREDIENTS: 1 mango 1 thick carrot 1 small beet – cooked, peeled & cooled ½ cup cilantro leaves

2 tbps. rice vinegar 3 tbps. lime juice 2 tbps. honey 1 tsp. chili sauce 1 clove of garlic

INSTRUCTIONS: 1 Julienne the first 3 ingredients into matchsticks and place in a bowl.

2 Sprinkle rice vinegar over top and toss.

3 Combine lime juice, honey, chili sauce, finely minced garlic and whisk until well blended.

4 Pour dressing and cilantro over salad and toss to combine.

5 Serve immediately.
