The neighborhoods of the historic center of Mexico City are homes that meet the social needs of housing for low-income families. This article explores how the changes in land use affect the loss of heritage value and the importance of the street in neighborhoods. The main question of this essay raises the dilemma between the needs and the space that exists in the neighborhoods of the historic center. Do the economic needs of the dwellers adapt to neighborhoods or are the neighborhoods that adapt to the economic needs of the dwellers? This phenomenon is analyzed from a perspective based on the architectural function.
