Spatial and Architectural Effect: while it can and may be instructive to understand how to categorise these architectural objects into styles, the focus of this work aims at an understanding of how formal design decisions in architecture produce certain effects: a sense of enclosure, depth shadow and light, scale, rhythm, proportion, generosity.
These terms do not have strict definitions so analysis and close study of the object was required. Central to this project was that drawing and making were the primary forms of questioning at the disposal of the architect.
CUTLERS’ HALL
THE WORSHIPFUL COMPANY OF CUTLERS
After the precise elevation drawings of the rooms were completed, models of the rooms were made using exclusively white card. The purpose of these models was the exploration and familiarisation with form, scale, light, propotions and more, while the gathering and assebly of the other models would create a compilation of interior moments from the Cutlers’ Hall
MIND & MUSE
THE EXPRESSIVE GATEWAY CENTRE
Mind & Muse - a proposal that emphasizes the use of the Arts as a means of self-expression and communication, and highlights the importance of the exprerience within the building as a gateway to better mental health. The project promotes mental growth and maturity to the future adults of Ladywell and Lewisham by teaching them a variety of self expression means.
Journey Through Textures - the entrance to the playtower is dominated by man-made / solid construction materias such as brick, concrete, asphalt, etc. The rear of the playtower has direct access and views of natural textures like greenery, pathways and the river. This contrast is celebrated through the material choice and colors of the interiors.
ARTES
CRUCIS (latin for: art’s cross),
is a proposal made, set to be a public art exhibition space located in the heart of Ridley Road, Hackney. Designed around the principles of density and diversity, the multiuse building aims to bring artists from all around london together. The building accommodates interior and exterior art exhibition spaces, a caffe and sitting areas.
