According to WHO (World Health Organisation) Mobile phone overuse can now be defined as "dependence syndrome”, adverse effects on relationships and in some case even damage hand function. While customer constantly receiving notification/ information from their phone, they start struggling to find a balance between the digital and physical world, finding themselves insecure when unplugged.

Introducing

MP 01 By Jasper Morrison

MP01 NO CAMERA. NO EMAIL. NO WHATSAPP. JUST TALK.

Without big screen, fingerprint sensor, camera or music, minimalist designer Jasper Morrison introduced the MP 01 for Punkt at the London Design Festival in September 2015, a outstandingly designed state-of-the-art device forces its user to ‘unplug’ from the noisy world, while still be able to reach their beloved ones.

Jasper Morrison's MP 01 Punkt’s MP 01, designed by Jasper Morrison, isn’t meant to be nostalgic, but it evokes such phones with its physical keypad, little, mostly monochromatic screen, and no email, internet, camera or apps beyond a calendar and reminders. MP 01’s stripping away of features is designed to address the pressures of modern, always-on life. “It would be a disaster if people thought Punkt was nostalgic,” says Punkt chief executive Petter Neby. “We think technology is great, but the smartphone is centric to everything for convenience’s sake, rather than sanity’s sake.” there is much to appreciate in MP 01’s fine detailing, the result of the hand of Morrison, as well as four years of development. The sturdy casing’s texture and moulding are tactile delights, the weight and balance just so. A faceted humpback tilts the Braun calculatorlike face when it lies on a table and it fits comfortably in the pocket.

Punkt OS “Simple and intuitive. It doesn’t get in the way.”

Monochromatic UI. The MP 01 has an elegant minimalistic monochromatic UI designed to focus on what matters. Unwanted apps icons, animations and colours have been stripped back to lessen distractions.

“Smart” Hard Keys. Clever short-cuts to functions for streamlined interaction on the go: Send a message to a missed call or reply to an incoming message by simply pressing the ‘Message Key’. Press the ‘Contact Key’ to save a new number in contacts.

Notification Center The MP 01 has a useful Notification Centre which enables users to get alerts and missed calls directly from the Home Screen.

“A next generation phone with limited distractions.”

Jasper Morrison The Minimalistic Master

Jasper Morrison (born 1959) is an English product and furniture designer. One of today's most influential industrial designers, Jasper Morrison is known for his minimalist approach, which was formed at an early age. "My grandfather had decorated one room of his house in the Scandinavian style of the '60s—bare floors, long-haired white rugs—and in it was a Braun record player with wooden side panels. I was impressed by the room and the record player," he recalls. Throughout his prolific career, Morrison has strived to create that same simple but functional beauty in everyday objects, from door handles to trays to wristwatches to chairs.

Today, Morrison is one of a small group of industrial designers, together with his former student Konstantin Grcic, Hella Jongerius, Satyendra Pakhale and Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, who work on a global scale by using advanced technology to develop massmanufactured products. His work has been shown in many international museums (including MoMA, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, London design museum etc).

Design Icon: Works by Jasper Morrison Available at Homeless Store Jasper Morrison once spent four years designing a fork. While there’s plenty of personality traits you could assign to someone who spent the equivalent of a presidential administration obsessing over cutlery, sensitive may be the most fitting for the London-based designer. By striving for the “super normal, the softspoken Brit has made noise with his inclusive, intuitive design. Available at Homeless
